Bayelsa State Gov Elect David Lyon Sacked By Supreme Court...

The Supreme Court has nullified the election of Bayelsa State governor-elect, David Lyon and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.

The apex court led by Justice Mary Peter-Odili on Thursday directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to the All Progressives Congress’ candidates who were earlier declared winners of the November 16, 2019 governorship election in the state.

The five-man panel ordered INEC to immediately issue fresh certificates to the candidates of the party with the next highest votes.

Justice Ejembi Ekwo gave the ruling after disqualifying the APC deputy governorship candidate, Degi-Eremienyo, as a candidate in the election.

Going by the new judgement, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP having scored 143,172 votes has, therefore, emerged winner

  2. I saw this coming.... Lyon is so unfortunate he used a man with issues over his certificate that has pulled him down. This was an election he won hands down. I knew this will happen to him.

    3. Teejay, pick a struggle. You saw it coming. Yet when the sack happened in IMO, you also saw it coming but with the reason being that it was a FG directive and the judiciary was compromised in favour of the ruling party.

What has changed? See secondly, you believe Lyon without a certificate would do a good job but you swore down from day one that PMB can't based on his alleged lack of adequate education.

Sir, please pick a side. You talk from all sides always claiming "inside info".

    4. Aww,,Teejay from today i see that you are a man of truth ..i use to think you only support what favours PDP irrespective of the circumstance ..even me that have more connection with apc than pdp i was angry at what the supreme court did to ihedioha because he won that election and it was unfair ...its good to say truth no matter what

    5. @16:54, get off Teejays's dick you moron. Where was it written that Lyon doesn't have a certificate?

    6. Anon 16:54, you are sick in the brain. Who told you Lyon didn't have certificate? This is to show how daft you are over happenings in your country. It was his deputy that has certificate issue. Don't bother thanking me for giving you this info. Yes I saw it coming, forgery is a criminal offence. This case is quite different from the rubbish we saw in Imo state.

    7. Thanks for the compliment 17:04. The truth can't be hidden. I support individuals and not based on party affiliation even though most times party influences their actions.

    2. Don, I just responded to Teejay on the basis of their last comments re:IMO.

So, has the judiciary become the hope of the common man? Is democracy dead in Nigeria? Y'all must answer.

    3. Ms. A, I am with you in that camp. They are all thieves! No need to lose one's peace over these thieves.

    4. DON, but on your own what would you have judge over that certificate issue? Keep sentiment apart.

    5. The error an judgement is so glaring. You don't argue blindly. OR would you see light and still say "give me the flashlight"?.

    6. Survivor, don't mind them above they just love supporting nonsense. Who doesn't know forgery is a criminal offence? How does this case relate to Imo state travesty of justice? Very sentimental lot.

    7. Let me take time to dispel your ignorance a little. Apc took Apc to court citing the deputy has forged certificate, no PDP in this equation now o. Supreme Court sacked Lyon based on this and awarded the runner up with the HIGHEST votes which happens to be PDP the governorship sit. Then let’s come to where the rape of justice you people want to do comparison with. APC took PDP to court saying some votes that should be credited to them wasn’t added which made them come fourth. Supreme Court declared someone who came fourth winner adding imaginary votes to him from God knows where. Cause I know even if one didn’t finish school addition isn’t too hard to solve. When the total number the Supreme Court awarded after the miraculous number was added is more than the accredited votes casted every sane person with conscience will definitely raise eyebrow. You compare like with like leave sentiments out of this

  6. I believe with PDP coming in, Timi Alaibes' case would come up again and Douye Diri would eventually be sacked on the grounds that he didn't win the primaries.
Well, let me just sit back and watch how things would play out...
