Experts Team Up To Usher In A New Era Of Fibroids Treatment Without Open Surgery..

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors in women of reproductive age and one of the commonest reasons women undergo surgery. 

But as research advances and new approaches to care are implemented, open surgeries are becoming less necessary for treating fibroids?

In the spirit of innovation and expanding treatment options for patients, Physicians Round Table (PRT) in conjunction with Nordica Fertility Centre is organizing a one-day fibroid conference themed “LATEST TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT IN THE TREATMENT OF FIBRIODS.”

The conference which is the first of its kind in West Africa will have Dr. Raymond Setzen, a renowned expert in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Director of HIFU, CHBA hospital, South Africa as the lead speaker.

To be showcased at the conference is a revolutionary technology called HIFU (High-intensity focused ultrasound). HIFU is a non-invasive surgery that uses focused ultrasound to generate highly localized heat to threat tumors either benign or malignant.

According to the conference host, Dr. Abayomi Ajayi, Managing Director, Nordica Fertility Centre “with advancements like HIFU, women do not need be “cut open” to remove fibroids...as open surgeries may sometimes damage the lining of the endometrium, thereby affecting the ability of such women to conceive…. We are organizing this conference to contribute to the advancement of medical practice in the country.”

The conference would hold on Friday, 21st February, 2020 at the Grandeur Events Centre, 17 Billings Way, Oregun, Ikeja, by 4:00pm.
