Gov Sanwo Olu's Okada Ban In Lagos -Your View

The Governor of Lagos state Mr Babajide Sanwo Olu has banned Okada and keke Marwa in some places in Lagos..

This Ban has greatly affected the movement of Lagosians and they are grumbling and have allegedly resorted to using horses to play the roads..lol

What is your view on the Okada/Keke Ban?

I think the Ban has to do with too many Robberies with Okada....If it will stop, then YES!!!
Horse to replace Okada? If i hear!....That is animal abuse please!!!

    3. The trekking is real all my muscles ache, when I finally got to a bus stop no bus. Bus drivers are hiking fares. I think they should have thought of a replacement before taking this drastic decision. The soles of our shoes will suffer.

    6. I think the okada ban is a good idea but I really don't understand why tricycles were banned.

Those bikes are doing more harm than good but Lagos state should reconsider the ban on tricycles.

Then again Nigerians should learn to walk, a 5 mins to 15 mins walk is good excercise for the body.

    8. Really!!!!! Walk under that hot sun in Nigeria? Use Bicycle on that Nigeria road that is so bsd even vehicles find it hard to ply it,or is it the reckless drivers on the roads that will just be killing bikers.Nigerian leaders are dumb heads,do they want these people to go hungry when you have taken away their livelihood without creating a job for them as alternative.

  2. The trekking today eeh was on another level Stella. All the Lagos slayqueens go soon get muscle for leg.

The truth is that! this govt dnt care about us. Is more politically motivated Dan we see it. They obviously want to sweep out the northerners from the south west. Becos the rate at this aboki use trailer to offload bikes and keke into Lagos is alarming. Population is growing. Reason for the Amotekun movement.

But at the same time we working in Lagos are suffering. U cnt just wake up this new year and ban okada and bikes without alternatives. With Lagos population how many people won reach work early. Stella it has bad and good effect. Obviously many people will lost their jobs in their office becos employers cant keep up with late coming. They would rather hire who stay close. I swear people are suffering. The few buses price went up ×3 of previous price. VAT have started and both browsing data and all as been increased. Sincerely is not cool.

Are we going to be trekking like this???? ORIDE and others that were issued licence to operate wat happen to the riders. Investors?? They lost their jobs already. Is crime rate going to increase?? Though the aboki guys have started using trailers to move their keke and bikes out of Lagos already.

  6. Stella the ban is not the issue, let them clear the containers on the road first, imagine a person whose office is at apapa, buses cannot access the road because container has take jare than half of the road, only bikes can access it.

  8. Stella it was not a well thought out policy at all!! Look Lagos has changed a whole lot if it is in the area of robbery, it is a very lazy way to put it as Lagos state should have been registering Okada riders and make it structured...Stella Gov Sanwolu publicly said that there were plans to regularize the Okadas and structure them like Opay, Gokada and Max..A lot of people have invested in these hailing companies and have been given a license so what is the reason for the license..This is a lazy approach as our government has always been..You didn't put any measures in place to cushion the effects..Most of the road are bad and death traps, your only option is to use bike or keke. Sanwolu should have gone round Lagos, carry out a survey..The places that he banned keke and bikes, he should have implement the new buses for test run, make any adjustments if it turns out successful and then ban okada and kekes...This is not how to go about the GREATER LAGOS he is preaching..Please dont enter any private cars.its better you trek then use Aboniki massage your legs at home than hearing WAZOBIA!!

  9. They would have banned okada first and get all things in place before keke. But we have stupid governor that did not think of this.

Bode Thomas is too free. Before you look left, right, left again to be sure if you cross the road.

It is affecting leggeddez Benz people

  10. The policy is just being wicked and selfish. Can everyone afford Uber and Taxify? Regulate it if you must but an outright ban is just being wicked make we no lie. See the stress and pain getting to the office na? Smh.

  14. It's a welcome idea if you ask me. The whole of my area is so peaceful now, you can walk peaceful on the sidewalk without being harassed by Okada riders who leave the road to share the side walk with the pedestrians.
One can cross the road peacefully.
I have been looking forward to a day like this in a very long time.

  17. Banning bikes perfect idea, but keke? that's the height of wickedness and cluelessness. This Govt doesn't just care for the masses, this country is a mess mennnn.

    ReplyDelete
  18. They should have provided alternative transport system before the ban because majority of lagosians don't have cars and can't afford cabs.

I am enjoying the peace driving in Lagos. Okada and Keke won't allow someone have peace on the road. They also cause majority of the accidents on highways.

  19. Fantastic idea. The okada at ikotun will reduce. 👏👏👏

  20. its really stressful for us as a family, bike and lake is really helpful in my area, it's a 20- 30 minutes walk from my house to the bustop or market, with bike it takes 5 mins...on Saturday I had to trek to the market with and trek back home with heavy load on my head and a baby on my back, 'twas stressful..if you stay around ebutemetta you'll understand better, the streets are very long

    ReplyDelete
  21. That and also high rate of okada accident is the reason for ban.
Lagos is a fast growing city where Okada riders storm in from other parts of the country. They believe they can make more money within a short time.
But alternative should have been provided before the ban.
If proper training, registration and check is carried out regularly on okada riders, then there won't be a need for the ban.

  22. What is in the best interest of the public? sanity on our roads. Okada was becoming a nuisance on the main roads. sebi Abuja did same nd they r still alive. Besides too much aboki nd foreigners will now leave lagos 4 us in peace. is it not okada they use for crime. All those making noise shld go buy bikes and get fit. oyinbo man rides bike to work

  23. bus fair has increased, imagine on Saturday the price of oyingbo to orile increased from 50 naira to 500 naira and u say its a good move, the rate at which crime will increase run, some streets in lagos can only be plied with bike during rainy season cos of bad roads, people park their cars somewhere else, imagine trekking in the rain for 30 mins when you could gave entered keke and u get to your destination under 5 mins, some people use keke to take their kids to school in the morning, some pretty traders use keke to carry their goods from market to their house or shop, u expect them to take a cab , how much is the gain..imagine sitting in traffic for hours and u get to the bustop where u can take a bike and get home under 5 mins, u start trekking for another 30 to 40 mins...its not a good move at all for me

    2. Lol, @ sleep. Got back home after the long trek, the kind sleep I slept, I never enjoy sleep like that in a long time... For me regulation should be key. Ban okada completely, any form of okada. Tricycle should be regulated for easy movement. I should be doing another trekking tomorrow, make I fit sleep like person way take pills.hahahaha.

  25. I don't even know how to explain my experience today. The government should have made provision before the ban. If you see the rate up to 4 or 5 Alaye people they attack one bus for money ehh at every point. Today is still Monday, lets just be wakaing in peace for now.

  26. Abeg! they should have a rethink.
Okada yes, but keke capital NO!
To think I trekked miles on Saturday with the stuffs I bought from Oyibo market on my head and hands because I can't get a single Okada man to take me home.

yes! I ate the #150 for bike fee but am still taking painkiller until today. Reason nam now, abeg who gain? and who loss? #freekekenapepemrgovernor#.

  29. The only reason I support this keke and bike bam is that these keke land bike men are crazy drivers. They scratch cars mercilessly. You will be driving peacefully, by the time you get home it’s new new scratches you’d be seeing on your car. It’s annoying. And the scariest part is they even operate on the express these days. A bike drove recklessly into the express one day I was driving. Bashed me badly. Imagine the money I had to spend to repair my car. I cried that day.
On the other hand tho, I think this is just a way to reduce northerners in Lagos. They are becoming too much and they don’t even know how to drive the keke and bike.
I only hope they bring back keke cause people actually need that to commute to short distance.
