NorthWest Governors To Shutdown Schools For 30 Days Over Coronavirus Alert.

As the noble coronavirus continues to spread across the globe, Northwest Zone Governors Forum have converged in Kaduna and resolved to close down schools in their states for 30 days.





In a communique read by the Chairman of the Forum and Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, after a closed-door meeting with security chiefs at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, to review security strategies and fight against banditry, he said the decision to close down the schools became imperative, to prevent the spread of COVID 19 disease across the northwest.

Governor Masari said the closure will take effect from Monday 23rd of March 2020.

He said the governors will meet with examination boards go discuss the school’s closure.

They also advised the general public to avoid unnecessary gatherings, urging them to maintain good respiratory hygiene.

Present at the meeting is the governors of Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kaduna, and Niger States, while Kano deputy governor Nasiru Gawuna represented governor Umar Ganduje.

Also among the states to implement the closure is Kwara state, whose governor was absent at the meeting.

  1. That's the way it should be. My nieces have stopped going to school too. Though their school is still in session but we had to do what we had to do when we realised even their proprietor hasn't been to school since February.

    2. This is a Funny question. They pay their kids school fees so obviously they also work too. They probably have househelps that their kids stays with while they go to work.

    3. Anon 19:26 there are 365 days in a year. Your children don't go to school round the clock do they? They have midterm breaks sometimes three months long holiday around June till September. Please during that time where do you keep them or do you go on leave from work the moment your children are on holiday?

      Stop hiding under the excuse of work and admit you don't see anything wrong with the situation and that's why your children are still in school. Not that anyone is forcing you or blaming you for your decision but stop feeling inadequate as a parent and looking for cheap excuses up and down. Her family is doing what is best for them so you too do what is best for you and stop asking childish question.

  2. Lol...those people hate school hen... fast fast shut down school. North West lohun lohun...🤣🤣🤣🤣. Even Lagos state that is a port of entry has not so quickly shut down education. Have the north west shut down mosques? That's the one the will be last to do.
