Driver Attached To Covid-19 RRT Has Been Sacked For Unprofessional Handling Of Patient He Picked Up..

The Driver was sacked because the Press release says he did not wait for Rapid Response team members to arrive and thus disobeyed coronavirus safety directive....
What about the people that helped him carry the man?Should they not all be Quarantined?or also sanctioned for disobeying social distancing?
Those trying to save face with this press release should do the right thing please!!!

In a statement released by Rafiu AjakayeChief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kwara state on Wednesday May 13th ,Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has directed the sack of a government driver that single-handedly attended to an unkempt person who was evacuated with a COVID-19 ambulance in Ilorin.

He also directed the issuance of queries to top officials of the state ministry of health for failing to act with necessary caution and expertise in the handling of the incident that was recorded in a video footage that has since gone viral.

The statement read;

“The Governor totally condemns the shoddy handling of the gentleman who was clearly going through a hard time.”
He has directed that the driver be fired immediately. As the investigation revealed, the driver failed to heed clear directive not to take any action until the Rapid Response Team (RRT) arrives the scene. He evacuated the gentleman with the help of members of the public without waiting for the arrival of the RRT.”

The Governor further directed that members of the RRT be queried, while other steps are being taken to ensure this incident does not repeat itself. Involving just anybody in the evacuation of a suspected case, as was seen in the footage, was a clear and dangerous violation of COVID-19 safety protocols. The government equally finds it quite distasteful and unacceptable that the driver, who had long been involved in such operations, made unethical comments to somebody in distress.

“That incident was avoidable, and we sincerely apologize to the gentleman and to the people of Kwara State for the embarrassing development. We assure them this will not happen again.”

Rafiu Ajakaye

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kwara state.

    1. I saw the video online. It was not funny at all. No nose mask or hand gloves. And they way they dragged the man in the stretcher was inhuman.

  2. What? handling a suspected covid 19 patient without his face mask and hand glove. The government of Kwara should have quarantine him before sacking him with those in contact with the patient.

  4. Maybe he got tired of waiting for the rapid response team to show up and so literarily took matters into his own hands!
    Anywhere, no excuse suffices for the breach of the standard heath protocol and so it's goodbye to him
