THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF CARTOONS



Cartoon is an inevitable part of the lives of our children. Whereas previously children spent their time in outdoor activities playing with their peers and enjoying different games now they prefer watching their favorite characters on TV for long hours. There are several adults like me who also enjoy watching such interesting animated films. 


The positive impacts of cartoons on children include education of children, learning additional information about the world including our ethnicity, enriching their vocabulary and interesting entertainment.

These animated feature films however contains images and storylines that are clearly inappropriate for a child’s viewing. While watching cartoons children often identify themselves with the characters, however these characters are usually aggressive or have supernatural powers to fly, run faster than the wind or jump from the top of a skyscraper on the buildings. Kids begin to see these characters as role models without parental supervision. Children gradually become aggressive, disobedient, cruel and angry when they become addicted to these films

Parents actually are not aware of the severity of the negative impact of cartoons. When they are stressed they choose the easy way out to entertain the kids so they can rest. Parental supervision is extremely necessary when the children are glued to the TV set. Children who watch cartoons full of violence tend to be nervous, aggressive and disobedient.

Moderation is key to the training of a child. Children ought to have a balanced lifestyle, therefore the number of hours allowed for viewing cartoons daily ought to be controlled. We must explain to them that contrary to what they watch violent behavior is not the best way to settle conflict. 


Cartoons should have age limit. It is important that parents have the prior knowledge of a particular animated film before allowing their kids watch it. When we cannot understand the impact of the film, it is unnecessary allowing our kids watch them. It is better when parents watch and discuss the character of cartoons with children as proper monitoring can be done.

If ever there was a thing I also needed in life while growing up, I think it was contentment and inner peace that could only come from being truly happy. Being untroubled about unnecessary worries of life, is one thing I've always looked forward in life. Peace with oneself is one feeling you'll never trade for anything. Believe me, not even money can buy that. I've seen wealthy and influential people, yet unfulfilled. Sad but so true.


Growing up, I stumbled severally as a result of some wrong decisions made that I almost got it all lost in life but for divine providence. In retrospect, I wish I had done better and never took some of the decisions I made at the time.


Mothers are great carriers of blessings and more also destiny builders. I make bold to say, my survival in life and some of the success I celebrated are anchored on Mom's prayers of intercession.


Looking forward now, I only but smile and realize that, my past failures and frustration were actually laying the foundational knowledge for the understanding I now have that have created the new person I've become in life. I conquered my fears and battles.


Sometimes, you need to get to your lowest point in life not cos you wish to be there, but life happened in order to appreciate success when they finally come. It's the defining moment of life. If you've never been at the rock bottom, you will never know the importance of holding unto success so tightly that you don't wanna lose it when you finally found it.



Believe in yourself. Whatever you go through in life, keep hope alive and dreams at heart. For dreams do come through when we strive so hard towards it and never give up. Dare to Succeed, for you can't conquer that which you can't confront. Only YOU can change the narrative.
