    1. Same with me ooo. I don't like anything that will bring quarrel where we'll be exchanging words let alone fight. I'm always on my lane o, just greet and pass.

Though I understand some neighbours can be very troublesome that no matter how much you stay on your lane, they'll still look for your trouble but I thank God I never jam them yet and I don't pray to.

    2. I remember two very well. One atheist African American smallie I shared an apartment with said I should stop playing my gospel songs, that she doesn’t want to feel like she is in church on a Saturday! I said huh???? When I changed it for her, ahhhhh she said “I was only joking”! πŸ˜‚
One white room mate ran out as I was cooking beans, and later told me to stop cooking my beans when people are around that the smell is bad. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„ I gave her the warning of my life!!! I play too much so it makes people think they can be silly, but the minute I show them my no nonsense side, they take three steps back.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    2. @chocolate Noir someone living down your street qualifies as a neighbour. Do you live in the middle of nowhere? Why are you people like this?

      Delete
    3. It means she owns her own house and probably has no adjoining neighbours Sapphire.

    4. Saphire, you're the local one here!

There are people that live in their own buildings, people that lives in detached houses far from other houses, people that lives in apartments where they don't have to deal with anything neighbours.

You think you know everything or how people live their lives but, you know absolutely nothing

      Delete
    5. What Ms A is trying to say dear Sapphire is that she either owns her house or is renting a mansion...ighotago?

      Delete
    6. She has neighbours even if she lives in her own house. The people around her are her neighbours.

I have peaceful neighbours. So we are good.

    7. Stella didn't say a quarell that involves you and your adjoining neighbours Neighbour is neighbour!
that is how most of you fail exam and lie on teachers head that the teacher is wicked.

    8. @Tiana even if you own your house you still have neighbours. Houses might not be next to yours but down your street. Do they live in the middle of a nowhere or a cabin in the woods? That's the only explanation to having no neighbours

      Delete
    9. Ms.A if you live in your own building and apartment you still have neighbour so you are wrong. By the definition of what an apartment is, then you are also wrong. I live in my own building and I have neighbours too.

The only time you don't have which you are correct is, if you live in an isolated house far from other houses. Far from the busy roads. Even if you live in a mansion, if it ain't in an isolated area then you will have neighbours.

      My 2cents.

      Delete
    10. @Ms A, the term "local" is not an insult o. Again check your dictionary. While at it, please check the meaning of neighbour. Meanwhile, it's nice to know you own your house but you don't live in an isolated planet all by yourself, do you? Even Buhari has neighbours who live next door within Queen Amina street in Asokoro. Hian!

    11. Okay guys.... I don't see people that lives in distance buildings from mine; people I have never come across or have any encounter with as neighbours.

Where I lived before, hmmmm I had this neighbor that feels you owe her even when you ain't friends with her.

She comes to borrow money from me and she pays back whenever. On this fateful day, she came as usual to borrow some money me, unfortunately, I was dead broke. I told her I didn't have money to loan her. Na so kasala burst o.

She started keeping malice with me. In my mind, I was like thank God at least one burden is off my shoulders.

Oh wait, when I was a kid and lived in an estate, some new kids moved in and were acting brand new. We the old kids decided to put them in their place and show them who was in charge. Led to a one week water and mouth "fight". We ended up making up and we all became friends lol. That was about it.

  10. There's this neighbour of mine, a lady. She got back from US and became frustrated. So I noticed that she started praying violently and swearing curses at us. That "motor will kill us.
It went on for a long time but I ignored. Infact, she used to mention those of us around here in her prayers. One day, my neighbor who is a doctor confronted her.
On this particular day, I was not in a good mood. I heard her praying....in the afternoon. She called my name while praying and started swearing curses. I hissed and faced what I was doing.
Before I knew it, she had started insulting my parents. I was mad. I went inside to change. Wore a tank top and a short.
Went to her compound and dragged her out. I told her I had had enough. Her elder sister supported me. The show started and her mum was calling me. Her mum was very sick but I didn't listen to her until I finished beating her daughter.
I went to her mums room, kelt down and apologized for disrespecting her. I didn't like what happened but I just had to deal with her daughter.
Her elder brothers from US called toapologize to me for what their sister had done.
Later that evening, I went to town and got the sick mum some gifts and apologized again.
That was how the lady stopped swearing and insulting us. We don't talk anymore, it's been over 4 years now. She's older than me with about 15 years though.

  16. Well that was when I married newly...my neighbor then always disturbed us of wanting to watch television when we just came back from work.I was pregnant and enjoyed being naked/just under wears while cooking. They did this till we got tired and decided to always pretend we were leaving the house and they just leave(husband and wife o).We were in two bedroom while they were in one bedroom.
I didnt know the wife was jealous and angry that we didnt allow them to watch television like before. So one day,my younger sis knocked on the gate and when he saw it was her,he hissed and went inside.I met the husband the next day that why hissing when he opens the gate that we dont do that to his visitors. His wife came to fight me and next she started abusing me,well we exchanged words and she went back to her house.
After few weeks, she started rearing chicks..she built a poultry house and positioned it in front of my own flat. When I looked through the window and saw it,wanted to speak but the spirit of God told me to hold my peace that this may lead to police case.Well after two days, armed robbers came to our compd entered thru the ceiling and made away with our money and wedding ring, the neighbor's television they later managed to buy.Tho we just renewed our rent,we sourced money and packed out after two weeks while the lady n her hubby ran to the village to live.Heard the thieves came back and met empty building.
Well after 6years of her jealousy and wickedness, met in seeking fowls in the market and had to patronise her...nothing dey this life.Is it my fault I work in a federal university while you in a state govt staff?

    Sorry for this long story...

This one hurts me and I've made up my mind business henceforth.

I met her in the compound as we are new there. She kept coming close for us to be friends as her flat is opposite ours. I told myself that I'm not going to form any closeness with anyone there as I don't want issues. She kept on helping out in any way possible e.g carrying our clothes in when it's about to rain cos hubby and I don't get home on time from work sometimes, I appreciated it and politely told her not to bother, she gave us baby items when our baby came and was giving advice as she's a mum of 2 as at that time. I told her not to no bother, she insisted and I appreciated her kind efforts.

I observed that she was carrying her face and was behaving like I did something wrong. I was feeling uneasy about her new behaviour and couldn't take it anymore so I had to meet her and asked her what's happening.

She said she greeted me when I was coming back from work and I didn't respond which I didn't recall at all. So she decided to keep to herself. I said, "you should have called me cos due to Lagos stress and traffic I might be lost in thoughts". Her response was she doesn't greet people twice, if you don't respond once, she will cut you off.

I then told her that if I'm your sister, won't you try to at least call me back and also be sure that I'm fine?

The response she gave next made me say ok, I'm done! Make everybody mind her business. She said I am not her sis as she knows how many children her mum gave birth to (she said it in Yoruba) and I am not one of them, besides she's from the west and I'm from south-south, only my husband is her person cos he's also from the west (though it's just hello and hi he does with her and her family).

I just said ok. I apologized and minded my business henceforth. We are cool now with hello and hi, that's just it!

Sometimes, when I notice he is outside playing, I dont allow my children to come out because of this boy.. I have reported severally to his mum but na "sorry" she go always tell me.. Saying "they are children, they don't know what they are doing" I struggled it off. This thing continued yet my children enjoy playing with him despite he maltreats them. I have always told my son not to fight back but reports to me whenever he starts his trouble.. Mind u, the boy is older than my son with more than a yr..
One day, I called my son and held his ears.. I told him anytime "Goodness beats u, u should beat him very well.. dont ever come and complain to me again" did u hear me? He answered "yes mummy". To me, I can't imagine the way my first son beats d younger one at home yet he can't defend himself from this neigbor's son..
One day, my 2 sons went out to play in d compound and dis boy collected my second son's toy and he started crying.. My first son asked him to give him back but the boy refused and slapped my son. I heard my son crying cos I was inside, when i came out i saw my son giving him several blows while he was on the floor and my second son joined him too before I asked him to stop. I have never in my life seen my son so furious..In my mind, I was very happy eh..
The mum came out and wanted to beat my son, na so I change am for her o.. She shouldn't just try it.. I just told the son sorry o and I told his mum" they are children na, they dont know what they are doing" nonsense!!!

I was neighbours with my choir mistress. She will be forming holier than thou and speaking in tongues in Church meanwhile choir boys used to sneak into her room every night(it was a face my I slap you house so we all had our noses in each other's business) So I connived with my other neighbour to get a sim card and send her a stinker.

He bought the sim, I bought airtime, wrote a long msg on how I was going to disgrace and expose her if she doesnt stop her kukere moves with the boys.

I refused going for practice the day I sent it. I think she was very close to the house when the message delivered cos I heard the commotion when she entered. I now sent another one "I'm glad you've seen it, I'm watching you and I will disgrace you....bla bla bla" Another round of noise. I went outside, asked if there was a problem cos I heard raised voices and she said no ooo, she's just gisting with her roommates😁.

Like play like play madam started midnight prayers ooo. Crying and speaking in tongues. That God should punish the people behind it. My accomplice said he was scared, that he wanted to confess. I told him to discard the sim and forget it afterall she was guilty as charged.

Months passed, nothing happened. My accomplice's roommate(Peter) saw the sim card, and started using it for whatsapp( the mumu didnt discard it) He later moved out of the house sha.

Now, we were preparing for NFCS end of the year party. Somehow Peter and the Choir mistress were merged as friends to exchange gifts on the D day. They exchanged contacts cos you're supposed to keep in touch with your "friend". Peter started chatting with choir mistress on whatsapp with that number and choir mistress already had the number saved on her phone! Na so party scatter!! After questioning Peter explained how he got the sim.

Long story short my accomplice confessed and I denied him!!! They asked me if I could swear and I told them I couldnt swear bcos I'm a Christian and my yes is yes and no is no al this while keeping a straight face😁

  27. I like to mind my business, stay on my line. I HATE drama, so I try to avoid it as much as possible. I haven't had issues with any neighbour, just one that was looking for. I spread my clothes on the line, and then she came and removed it, saying she wanted to dry her clothes. Meanwhile her own line was empty. She was lokking for a fight, but I didn't say pim. Just took my clothes. I saw her looking at me, but I just shook my head, and smiled. I moved out of that flat.

  28. Our landlords son and another tenants daughter were both in a secret relationship. Both families were very not in support of the relationship when they found out. It was quite messy. Both are married to other people now.

  29. Another one oooo. Still in that face me I slap you house. Our neighbours on the other side of the fence was a family man. One evening there was no light and we were outside gisting about chickens. The next thing the man knocked on our gate, called the eldest tenant and said his chickens has been missing and this our conversation just confirmed his suspicion that we've been stealing his chickens. When we heard it we cussed the man and his family till day break, no jokes.

The next day someone washed duvet and spread it in the fence. The duvet wasnt well squeezed and the water dropped on the other side of the fence. We were gisting outside as usual(we normally spread mats close to the fence bcos there is a tree on his own side of the fence that gives shade on our side) next thing dirty water was splashed on us from over the fence. The eldest tenant went to enquire and he said he retaliated for the water he saw. That was how we began our dirty water fight ooo. It was bloody! We invited people from other lodges to help us. It took the intervention of our landlord to end the fight.

I'm glad I moved out of that razz house sha.

  30. I didn’t rest during the lockdown. I never knew that my other neighbors quarrel in such manner until the corona season that made me stay home. The actual couple that do quarrel before the lockdown didn’t even quarrel for one day. It seems the lockdown repaired their relationship. The ones I thought no dey quarrel, hmmm....I did not rest. The first day I heard them quarrel was because the man saw his wife in a dark corner chatting with a neighborhood brother. His mistake was that he asked the woman What she was doing there in a tone she didn’t appreciate. Omo, quarrel started from there till they got into the compound not minding that people could hear them. That was the beginning of world war 3. From that night till divine intervention came maybe 3weeks ago, it was a battleground. The man never touched her oooo but he was always talking, nagging and basically frustrated maybe because of the lockdown. In the morning, Afternoon and night, quarrel. At first i was shocked to realize that they could quarrel, raise their voices and exchange heavy words without shame. Then I found it entertaining because I was also bored and later I had to pray for peace in their home. That was when the quarrels stopped oooo. The man started going out in the morning and returning at night. Even when at home, no one really knows. I thank God because it was beginning to affect their little ones. I just love the first. She would start her own drama when they start by crying hysterically that they would focus on her and start insulting her.

I don't see the big deal here, that name is not owned exclusively by your son..
I am sure that your son has many namesakes and will you resent them for bearing the same name as your son??

    4. Na wa , lol.na wa for this razz quarrel. You better name your son what you like, Wetin concern you. If she like she should name all her children like yours it shouldn't concern you. If that is the name you want for your child give the child that name, it concerns no one. Na you dey answer her. If she wants to spite you she would succeed if you give your child another name.

    5. That is painful sha. Don’t give her the satisfaction of seeing you unhappy with what she did. Give your son the same name, you’ll not always be in the same environment. Next time keep certain things to yourself.

  34. Plenty drama happened in that house sha. I moved out a year later. The new house sef came with it's own plenty drama but I wasnt directly involved in any. I was just a silent observer.

Now to this present house, which thankfully is not a face me I slap you,few weeks after I moved in, there was mo light and I was sitting in the varendah one evening, my neighbours were outside the gate gisting.I wanted to go join them so as to familiarize with them but something held me back. Before I knew it they started bad mouthing some really crazy girls in one of the rooms. The funny thing was that one of the girls they were badmouthing was at home, also sitting in her varenda. They kept mentioning the girl's name and I kept wondering if they didnt know she was around or if they were two people bearing that name in the house. Small time madam began calling her roommates to come home. Me I jejely entered my room and took position at my window.

The gossips quickly took cover when they knew their game was up. They kind of dragging they recieved ehn. That was when I told myself that in this house ehn, you will behave or they will behave you! I stayed on my lane till those set of of tenants left. These new set of neighbours are cool sha. We bonded during this lockdown period even though I've never stepped into anyone's room. We're cool from a distance.

  35. I once had this neighbor, she is a widow with 4 kids. It's a flat but her kids will bring water out to pour down stairs(they live up while we live on the ground floor). They won't bother checking if someone was coming or not they just pour water down. My husband went to meet her and told her to warn her children but they didn't stop. My husband had to report to the landlord, I think he called to warn her she started carrying face. Shouting in the compound that they are children, they don't know anything. These children have blown groundnut peel on my heard, poured me water but she sees nothing wrong because according to her they told me sorry. My husband will have none of that and warned her and her children. Is it the one of occupying my clothe line on Saturday i want to mention, they didn't put clothes line and will be dragging mine with me. I go to work and only do laundry on Saturday. Before I wake they will fill my line with clothes till I politely told them not to put clothes on my line on Saturdays. She got angry again and was ranting. Me I no Sabi talk to much, the next time they put their clothes I nicely went to knock their door to come remove their clothes. She is always shouting I am a widow oo, God will punish anybody that troubles her, Human right will fight for her as a widow.

The mad neighbor that rears as these dogs that their head looks like bull(make una no vex, I no know the name of the breed). He doesn't chain them nor put them in cages(tenant like me oo). The dog almost attacked my husband one day, he warned him. They got chain and cage but still let the dogs loose sometimes. The one that brought the matter to the peak was my son of 3 yrs was outside with me( I was spreading clothes on the baby hanger)when I just saw the dogs coming towards us. I threw away the clothes and pick my son with one hand and threw him towards the door and ran in. I hit his head on the door out of fear and panic. My husband went to the police station to report, they can but didn't meet him. They took pictures of the cage with the dog( they returned the dog to the cage when my husband was shouting.)
The next day I went to work and came to meet the cage taken out of the compound.

  38. I remember mama Ifeanyi as far back as 1995. We were still young then. This woman was fond of singing derogatory songs anytime my mum was passing. By the way, it was face me I slap you house then. If my mum put pot somewhere, this woman will shift it and put hers. It got so bad mum could not take it anymore so mum waited patiently for her to enter her trap. Devil woke mama Ifeanyi up one cool morning and mama ifeanyi started singing her yeye song insulting my mum. Mumc enter house, wore short and short. Dad was busy reading Newspaper and asked why mum dressed like that and she said he should not worry, that she wanted to do exercise.
Mama ifeanyi sighted mum's attire and quickly ran into her apartment . mum pursued her and dragged her out and beat the living day light out of her, dragged her hand and bit her. Mama Ifeanyi screamed and started saying nkea bu nkita oooo. O tagbo m. Her husband with his glasses came out and tried to separate fight,e no work. He now went to our apartment and dragged the newspaper from Dad's hand and said he should go and control his dog. Mum was like I will show you the bingo I am today. She dragged his hand and bit him and he screamed and ran inside.
That was the last time mama Ifeanyi tried that. Anyday she saw my mum she will be like "mama Chima good morning ma".

    1. My neighbours were terrible, diabolical and evil. My Pastor came to my house once and said i should park out as soon as possible. That there is evil everywhere. My second naighbour the first day I moved into that building hung a calabash in front of their house and one evening I heard something hitting the side of my room window outside, when I peeped through the window I saw her hitting my wall with a calabash and reciting an incantation and I asked her Mama Fausa what are you doing there. This woman in a bid to kill her neighbour killed her daughter. A neighbour upstairs was always saying it in form of a parable. Some neighbours are the devil incarnate.
