Mrs Dee's Corner - Quantity Matters

For some Quantity matters a lot.................

One sure way to offend me is to heap a mound of white rice on my plate and then sprinkle a dash of stew on top that won't even go halfway.

This used to serve as punishment for me when I was still a house girl. My madam then would serve me enough rice with very little stew and warn me never to ask for more stew , I would end up eating the remaining rice without stew.

The same thing happened with eba and soup and the soup was hardly enough for the 'swallow'.

As weird as my prayer may sound, I used to pray then to get to a time where I would eat my rice with enough stew.

But I've also discovered that unlike me, there are people who can't eat food with too much stew or soup. If it's so much, they'll end up pushing it to one side of the plate and at the end, it'll just be a waste.

I've served guests who didn't finish up the remaining soup after their eba finished and when I inquired if the soup was not tasty, they revealed they can't eat the soup when the Eba is finished...

I enjoy my stew and soup in abundance and even go as far as eating only soup as a meal.
It's always a delight when I have guests who do justice to their meals and even ask for more.

***
If i want to eat Eba and soup,i measure 10 teaspoons and make but i need a pot of soup to finish the small eba with..
When i used to cook Nigerian soups frequently,i finished anything i cooked same day...lol

  5. different strokes for different folk, some like plenty soup/stew while others like it just enough for their meal. Mrs D you are just one of those that eat plenty soup/stew. I'm sure your madam puts just enough for your meal.

  7. I love having a little amount of stew on my rice, too much of it makes the meal uninteresting.

As for soups, I love having more depending on the type.

I can manage eba with small soup but I can't manage rice with small stew.

My husband use to waste my soup before. He would eat and remain some no matter how small. When I started storing it for him to eat on his next swallow meal, the guy buckle up begin lick soup. I hate wastage biko.
