 'These are Crazy times!''

Crazy Times
Whenever I see children playing unsupervised, especially around the neighborhood, I panic. Sometimes I stand to see, if anyone is looking out for them, or not.

There was a day I was running an errand, and saw a young boy walking along the road with me, alone. I started looking out for an adult in front or behind taking note of him, I didn't see any, so I stopped the child in a loud voice, asking for his guardian, till someone ran to meet us, indicating that they were together. I cautioned the woman on allowing the child to walk so far away from her in these crazy times that we have found ourselves.

I have developed this habit of taking note of children that seems to be alone, to make sure that someone is responsible for them. I wasn't this paranoid before, but crazy stories in these crazy times turned me like this.

How can a mother be sleeping with her 3 months baby in her house, and someone carried the baby from the window and proceeded to rape her, spilling out her intestines, in the same neighborhood?.
When he was caught and interrogated, he confessed that he has been doing such to children in the neighborhood and enjoyed it.

An 18year old was arrested for raping his neighbor's 2 year old. The child was left with her older sister, by the mom, who went to buy something from the nearby store.

34 year old Adeshina, was arrested in Bauchi, for luring and raping a neighbor's 3 year old, and he confessed to have raped 4 minors in the neighborhood.

20 year old brothers Bright and Uchechukwu were arrested in Imo state, for raping their 13year old cousin. The said cousin was sent out of the house by their grandfather, for coming back late from an errand. Her cousins told her to come and sleep in their house, where they proceeded to rape her, through the night.

Or, is it the man that was convicted of raping a neighbor's 2 year old to death?
These horrible stories go on and on, and it's important to create awareness and call attention to them. Parents should be weary of some "neighbors" and be mindful of how they allow their children to play unsupervised.

Please, let's all join in wagging this war, against the evil targeting children.
A lot of people have lost their humanity and many have allowed the devil to take control of their reasoning, and actions.

These are Crazy Times, Beware!!!!!

Juliana's Opinion -  Nursery in Organizations

Companies should consider having a nursery in their organizations in order to give mothers a level playing ground at their work places. Moms can work knowing that their babies are next door and safe.

This idea will also promote exclusive breastfeeding among women and be an added avenue for job creation. The good thing about having a nursery in an organization, is that new moms will be focused and productive without being distracted by the thoughts of their babies welfare. I believe it will be a win win situation for both the moms and the organizations.

Many women had to resign after childbirth because they couldn't handle the stress of taking care of a newborn with work especially those that do not have a house help.

EFFECTS OF EXCESSIVE ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION

1. Causes temporary complications such as memory loss and coordination.

2. Long-term consequences of excessive drinking may include cardiomyopathy, stroke and sudden cardiac death.

3. Prolonged and excessive alcohol consumption are alcoholic hepatitis, fibrosis and cirrhosis.

4. Long-term alcohol abuse can eventually cause the blood vessels around the pancreas to swell, leading to pancreatitis.

Short term effects;
*Slurred speech
*Vision impairment
*Lack of coordination
*Extreme shifts in mood
*Memory lapses
*Slowed breathing

Tips on how to Overcome Alcohol Addiction

1)Evaluate the costs and benefits of drinking.Weigh the costs and benefits of drinking to the costs and benefits of quitting. Take a decision.

2)Set goals and prepare for change. Once you’ve made the decision to change, the next step is establishing clear drinking goals. Be more specific and realistic. Work with your goals.

3)Get rid of temptations.
Remove all alcohol, barware, and other alcohol-related paraphernalia from your home and office.

4)Announce your goal.
Let friends, family members, and co-workers know that you’re trying to stop or cut back on drinking. If they drink, ask them to support your recovery by not doing so in front of you.

5)Be upfront about your new limits. Make it clear that drinking will not be allowed in your home and that you may not be able to attend events where alcohol is being served.

6)Avoid bad influences.
Distance yourself from people who don’t support your efforts to stop drinking or respect the limits you’ve set.

7)Learn from the past.
Reflect on previous attempts to stop or reduce your drinking,it worked? What didn’t? What can you do differently this time to avoid pitfalls?
