Chronicle Of Blog Visitor Narrative...

STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
SCARY EXPERIENCE.

Hello Stella, thank you very much for this platform. I have a little problem, and I'd like to get a few inputs from bvs.

2 weeks ago, I started bleeding, at first I thought nothing of it cos my period that month hasn't come. But after 4days it became so heavy and accompanied with thick blood clots, I became worried. By that time, I was on the 2nd pad. But I relaxed and decided to watch it for a few more days, before going to the hospital. The day it got to 1week, I started losing strength .....

I went to one private hospital around my place. When I got there, I was told to take a personal card before I could see the doctor. I did and I was led to his office. told him what my problem was and he asked to see for himself. When he did, he started shouting. The way the blood was pumping out was much. That was when he said he's suspecting fibroid.

My soul left my body immediately I heard that.

Immediately, he asked for abdomen scan, I paid and was asked to drink water until I felt very pressed, so they could ascertain what the problem was. I was there until i almost peed on myself. Then we did the test. I was so relieved when it wasn't fibroid as suggested earlier. The scan just showed small pus, and I was asked to do hormonal profile, and some infection tests.

Then, the doctor decided to check my BP and sugar level and weight. My BP was very high, sugar level above normal. The doctor said the bleeding was as a result of accumulated blood not leaving the uterus and it was high blood pressure that triggered it. That it will stop, I should allow the blood flow, but, I should be taking more vegetables and good food so I don't faint. And then, I should avoid carbohydrates for the time being.

The bleeding finally stopped at exactly 2 weeks, and guess what? I was on my 7th pack of padwith only two left... Stella, I lost weight by Force. The experience wasn't funny at all, I was beyond terrified cos I've never seen anything like that before.

Please, has anyone gone through this before? How did it and go? Should I be worried?

Thank you Stella.

*Pus in your Uterus?High blood pressure?Sugar above normal?..You need to do serius tests and go for that Fibroid scan again properly....

  1. Poster, I think you need to go to another specialist hospital and run some more tests to ascertain what is really wrong with you.

Please, don't let it happen before you cry out!!

    1. Poster. take this advice. See a gynaecologist.

If Stella would post, I would have mentioned the hospital and doctor your would see in Lagos. She's a German trained gynaecologist in her early 60s.

I recommended her to my friend who actually hid from me that she had fibtoid. The day my friend fainted in the office, she told me it was ulcer.
Well, I'm happy her fibroid surgery went well and she got married soon after. She has two children already.

    2. That pus is as a result PID that has lasted for too long. It has happened to someone I know. She was even operated upon to drain out the pus because her stomach was swelling up and she was in serious pain.

You need to see a specialist.

  2. I agree. Poster. You need to go for a proper test. This are deadly signs. Did they put you on insulin? are you taking drugs to suppress both the blood pressure and sugar level? are you checking your BP and checking your sugar level daily? have you cut your cab intake etc etc. I am not a doc but you need a specialist care. Last one: did you have an abortion?

    1. Yes Doctors do examine female genitalia. this may entail putting in 2 fingers and trying to feel the neck of the womb.
I disagree with your doctor however about the high blood pressure being the cause.
Any bleed not due to menses should be taken very seriously. I do not intend to scare you but that is how some cancers present. I would like you to go to an FMC or teaching hospital. I wish you a very long healthy life. Dont worry

    3. I pray you read this!! Please go to a good hospital and request a Pap smear immediately. The f is abnormal request a colposcopy please. I say this because bleeding like the one you described are triggered from cervix abnormalities. I am not saying the doctor is wrong but you need to do more investigation, I know that is not the last of the bleeding. I know exactly what I am talking about.

  5. I once saw my period for a month, went to hospital and was just given antibiotics. I was around 16yrs then and still a virgin. Then in my mid twenties, after my flow, I woke up in the night to see cuddled blood on my bed, it was much, I used my hands to scoop it three times and I went on to see my period again for a week extra, went to the hospital and was told it was hormonal imbalance, was given primolut and had no problems. Then I wasn't a virgin. When I got married in my early thirties, I saw my period every 3weeks, went to hospital and was told it was hormonal and a lil fibroids. Got pregnant and the fibroids show me pepper by degenerating which left me in serious pains. My husband then turned to a monster, beating me up and taking my money leaving me wit nothing. I put to bed and he finally left. This covid time, I didn't see my period for 3months, I went to hospital and the doctor told me to just allow my body bring it which it did on Thursday, bright and shiny as usual.

  8. My dear go and see a Gynecologist as fast as possible. i'm very sure there is an infection. if you have has misscarriage or doen abortion some months ago, you need to do that fast. i lost a pregnancy of less than 4weeks in June and was told that it would bleed out by itself since i was not far gone. the bleeding stopped but I decided to go and see the Gyne as per routine visit and was scanned , only to be told that there was a lot of blood cloth inside my womb which would have later turned into infection had i not come for the check-up. immediatly a D&C was done to prevent any damage. three weeks later I began to deveop ovarian cyst that was arrsted too.
Do not take this lightly. See a profession fast to avoid stories that touch!

  9. Yes i have experienced it before. It was during Covid I bleeded for 3 weeks I can't count how many pads I used because it was an heavy flow, couldn't go to the hospital for fear of Covid and to be honest no money for hospital bills.

What I noticed was that 2 months prior to that my period didn't show up so I thought it was an accumulated blood that was flowing. It stopped after 3 wks and since then my period has been flowing normal ( it doesn't exceed 5 days) but to be honest I was scared that period to think that my mum had fibriod before she died.

I still don't have the money to visit the hospital for thorough checks hopefully I will when I have .

    2. Had similar experience in 2014. My period lasted for 2 weeks and the blood flow was heavy and abnormal. Infact, I had to stop using pad. Unfortunately, there was no money to run any test but I asked a nurse what it meant cos my friend was hospitalised then and she just laughed and said if I didn't have an abortion or do anything unusual that it was normal and would stop on its own. I took a drug(can't remember the name now) cos I was told since it's past 1 week, it was necessary to stop it. But since then, my period has been normal but that was a scary time. Though I've done a couple of tests few years later and the results were fine.

  11. Please go to a teaching hospital or a federal medical centre and see a gynaecologist for professional evaluation..high bp causing massive bleeding from the uterus, unlikely.
More likely to be a fibroid or retained products of conception if you have recently been pregnant.
Also the scan should be repeated and a PCV to check your blood level.
    Take care

  12. Poster do a comprehensive test but it looks more like the bleeding is caused by fibroid. May God heal you

  13. Please see a good gynecologist please, there's nothing like accumulated blood..
The same thing happened to me,my gynecologist told me it's inflammation of my uterus, that it happens to some women,if they under serious stress..
I was placed on drugs, after running various test..
To get a good scan result,it's better you do it again when you are not on your period..
So I'll advise you to go for the scan again, this time let a sonographer do it,after which let a gyneacologist examine you..
    You will be fine..

  14. One thing that can make pus be in someone's womb is sti; gonorrhoea, Chlamydia or abortions.
Did you do it? You were silent on your sexual habits.

  15. Retained products of conception was the first thing that came to my mind. It happens 3+ years into my marriage I think my daughter was 2+ I went to work as normal that Monday morning but I noticed the bleeding was heavier than normal. It became heavier and heavier by the minute until I had to take an excuse to leave. My boss asked her driver to take me to the hospital, by the time I got there I told the doctor I couldn’t sit because of the gushing blood it was like a tap. It was a female doctor and she knew exactly what it was... She explained that the bleeding won’t stop until everything is out, that’s how the female anatomy works. They put me on drip immediately and scheduled a D&C for the next day. I felt like life was leaving me... take your health seriously pls go to a teaching hospital and get checked out ASAP. If you’ve never been pregnant it might be fibroids but you need to be sure.

  17. Poster, next time please summarise. There's no need telling us how you got a card and all that. It makes the reading boring, just go straight to the point.

That said, seek another opinion in a more advanced hospital.

  18. This is scary, please go to a teaching hospital for proper medical check up.

  21. I have gone through this, for close to three years, mine was like the woman with the issue of blood. I was almost slipping through depression, visited different hospitals, different tests -till a name was pined on the bastard. The day I knew about the real cause of the bleeding was the day I got delivered from polycystic ovaries. Though it can be manage but not life threatening. Please world people help me thank my hero, Dr Omololu of Island maternity hospital, Lagos.(Always a bit teary whenever I think about my experience).Am a survival.

  22. I have PCOS and I usually bleed like that for 2 months because of hormonal imbalance and insulin resistance. Started taking some supplements, watching my diet and reducing my weight and it went down to 2 weeks light bleeding(big deal for me since I usually bleed for 3 weeks + and heavy). I think you should check another hospital and see a gynaecologist

    ReplyDelete
  23. Since you say your sugar level is above normal, and you have hypertension, my first diagnosis would be that you might have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). It usually presents with damn heavy bleeding and then some periods of no menses. You might also have metabolic syndrome.
You need to visit a gynecologist in a teaching hospital or good private hospital for conclusive diagnosis

AnOther reason could be retained products of conception

    ReplyDelete
  24. You must see a gynaecologist as soon as possible. Please don't play with your life .

  25. Are some of you afraid of going to teaching hospitals and federal medical centres. It is cheaper to see a doctor there and they have the best trained doctors in our federation. I haven't gone to any private hospital since 1996. I got to know that once it gets tougher, states specialist hospitals and private hospitals will refer you to teaching hospitals, even federal medical centres would refer you to the closest teaching hospital. I told myself, if they would eventually refer you to a teaching hospital, why not just stick to the teaching hospital.

  26. Please visit Lagos Island maternity if you're I'm Lagos Poster. The cost of treatment is relatively okay and they have beat gyneacologists in Lagos. Go on Monday.

  27. Im a Dr, i'd suggest you get a pet a pap smear done, could be cervical cancer. If you also have pelvic infection, I.e pid, then treat it as well

    ReplyDelete
  28. Poster you need to get to general hospital to run proper checkup and get treated biko.

  29. You need to go somewhere else. I am shocked the doctor did not even prescribe iron for you considering how much you were bleeding and even you said that you were weak. The doctor you saw does not instill confidence in me. He should have referred you to a specialist.

You need to go to a gynecologist and a good one too.

  30. The exact same thing happened to my sister. It was ovarian cyst. We went to Iyienu teaching hospital for operation. It was removed by another means, but she has a baby now. Nothing will happen to you dear. The scan should be sonogram to ascertain the size of it.

  31. This story doesn’t tally with hematometra(blood accumulation in the uterus), if it was , the scan would have shown it. And high BP doesn’t cause hematometra. What’s the result of your hormonal test?
Conclusion is you need to see a gunaecologist. There are many causes of heavy menses

  34. You probably have polyps, it’s treatable. But to be sure you need to get a proper ultrasound and maybe a transviginal scan done. They can operate on you and remove the polyps. I don’t think it’s an infection.
