Has Society Placed Birth Control Responsibility On The Wrong Gender?

What do you think about the responsibility of the birth control pills falling heavily on the woman? If she does not taken precaution, she can be doing one every nine months while he walks around without protection......

  1. It's unfortunate. Society have always been against women from time.

    1. I disagree with the logic.
Before the era of modern contraceptives, the burden lay on the males. Women were at the mercies of their partners. They had very little control over when and whom to get pregnant for.

Then came the miracle of female contraceptives. Medicine came to the rescue. The female gender was now free. There was finally a great degree of control over their own bodies.

Who carries a child for 9 months? The woman. Who is responsible for breast feeding and nurture? The woman. This is a nature assigned responsibility by reason of one's gender, and not imposed by society.

In summary, women therefore should be free to own their bodies in every way. The ability to use birth control measures to decide when to get pregnant is a liberty that every woman shouldn't be deprived of.

    2. Noc-tonal please read again. Or maybe you are addressing some other issues but clearly not on the subject at hand. It's only saying, men are population hazard and not women. A man can father thousands of children in a life time not a woman.

  2. I agree. There's also the fact that when a woman gets pregnant out of wedlock, Nigerian society lays all the blame on her and little or no blame to the male responsible.

    1. Because the one who carries most of the responsibility is expected to have extra common sense.

She will be the one to get pregnant and carry it for 9months probably stop school and have carryovers that is if she plans to keep it or go for abortion and feel the guilt alone that is if she is lucky to meet a good doctor who is not a quack and her womb gets damaged and at the end she will still be the one to get asked by these same men who they freely give their body to what is your body count I hope it not more than 2. Despite being aware of all these shameful situation someone somewhere is still going to open leg freely tomorrow for her boyfriend so that they get blamed the most when they get a child outside marriage because it is like they saw fire and still open their eyes to go and shook hand inside.

    2. Timely sex education will help.
Don't just tell her to abstain.
      Tell her the truth.
Tell her sex is natural and sweet BUT she the weight falls on her more than her male counterpart.
      Tell her about contraception.
Tell her about curable and incurable diseases.
Tell her that her desire for male companionship is natural but she should be wise.
Give her examples that she has seen or heard about.
Lay all her options open before her, step back and pray for her.

  4. There should be more contraceptive for men instead. No wonder women age faster than the men due to these hormonal pills the body absorbs

    1. You think men will answer easily. They like themselves too much to agree. If these men were women they won't have premarital sex and won't be popping pills into their system anyhow and after marriage and childbirth will not even accept skin to skin. The man will be forced to use a condom till old age.

  7. Everybody knows this but the truth is that the burden is on the woman because it is her body that houses the baby and goes through all the changes. Nevertheless, let's teach our men to be more responsible about birth control.

  8. 100% correct. My aunt refused every form of birth control. Told her husband he should get a vasectomy, guy man mo gree🤣🤣🤣. She was afraid of cancer and the rest of them.

  10. The analysis up there is true but I still prefer birth control responsibility to be on women cos I want to be in control of how I birth kids. Pregnancy is not come and chop.

  11. If you think about it logically, men are the ones that are supposed to wear skirts to free the gbola while women. Should wear trousers cos it even rhyme with the shape of their pussies..

But when you think again.. it's easier for a man on trousers to ease himself and it's easier for women on skirts you ease themselves unlike when they're on trousers..

If these feminist are smart enough to understand the above, they wouldn't be asking this dumb question. No be everything dem dey use do power tussle make una no go shoot una selves for foot

    1. help me tell, all power struggle, general anti men, misandrist agenda wont change anything, we should be working on better education, equal job opportunities, equal pay, then enlightening our daughters, on self and mutual respect, these talk of men are the problem is all nonsense, both genders equally need each other, you will see women been brutalized in their marriages, some, it is their mothers and sisters that will still encourage them to fight for their homes, some will start pushing for the woman to suffer her husband, for laws in which she should be able to pursue the husband out of the house, strip him of all his assets, instead of talking about also empowering our women, so immediately there is one episode of DV, she has the individual ability and capacity to say, I am leaving, without any fear of, how will I cope, then again what all these feminists want is for them to be put in charge in position of authority, and purnish men or put men down, without talking about using such positions to effect change in our society. Sorry for any typos

  12. I think the responsibility should be on the woman because she has to bear the brunt of everything.

Besides, the children welfare are also more important to women, na we carry children for head pass.

    So let's protect ourselves.

  14. I agree. Men feel superior eventhough their contraceptive methods is safer than those for women. You will see women become very fat which could lead to high blood pressure heart disease and diabetes because of the birth control they are on but the men will condemn them to have let themselves go, unattractive and giving them license to cheat. What of women that bleed to death? I know more than 5 luckily they had it removed before it killed them. What of the hormonal ones that causes various types of cancers in women? What of those that give women crippling pains and crippled some of them? I can go on and on.

Nigerian men are simply selfish some will even say they cannot use condoms with their wives. Some won't agree to work with the woman's ovulation so they know when to have sex and abstain from it.

Stella posted something about the development of birth control pills for men and we all agreed men won't use it. I shared the story of my dad's friend who is a tiller, no education or anything and this man has been on monthly injections that kills sperm since 2011 because it was complications from birth control that killed his first wife so he is not putting the new wife through it. Prior to him disclosing it in 2013, I never knew such existed and most people are still ignorant of it in 2020. Their must be awareness and Naija men must change their mentality. I told my husband and his response to me was that he can not give up the thing that makes him a man. So to him the ability to impregnate a woman is what makes him a man. He told me frankly that he doubts men would willingly do something which they know makes their sperm just water. Enough rants I'm angry.

    1. where is the research, if any contraceptive method is proven unsafe, dont you think, FDA will have withdrawn approval and the information will be out there, contraceptives should be used by anyone who wants to enjoy the fruit, but does not want bear the consequences that may result irrespective of their gender, this is the message which should be passing to upcoming generations boys and girls, and the need for commitment in relationships, so if pregnancy come, they both take responsibility. Why should a guy be having sex without condom, without thinking of his partner fertile window, when he knows she is not on any contraception. sorry for any typos

  16. I have a friend that got pregnant and started living with this man( husband). She got pregnant the second time and went through hell. The man wasn't working then. It was after that that he then got a 15k job. Next thing I know,my friend tells me she is pregnant again. I wan mad.🙄🤔😠
The first child missed two terms cos of no money for fees. The second one now that's up to school age hasn't started cos of no money. She is nursing that third child now and as at last week when I went to her house, she was telling me that the husband is telling her to get pregnant ( she is still nursing a three month old child) that he needs a son and not a sister's convent and when she tried to make him see reason why they shouldn't have another child just yet he begin vex o say him go go impregnate person outside 🙆 Mogbe!!!

I just begin para for her o. To feed is a problem. Rent is an issue. Living from hand to mouth and from charity yet you want another child so when people don't get you help you say they are stingy.
This man beats you, embarasses you everywhere, when your friends visit and gives you money,he steals it and denies etc.
I am just writing out of anger. All these you endure because your parents marriage failed and you do not want people to mock you.
I told her to go do family planning without his knowledge and if he asks her why she hasn't gotten pregnant make she just say that she is still expecting a miracle. Shuuuuu

Anyways sef,I won't be putting my mouth again in their ish before tomorrow now person no go tell me say na because say I be single mom na why I wan make she follow dey like me.
Not like my own life is perfect

I'm sorry if I went off topic abeg
