After days of #EndSARS protests across Nigeria, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has announced the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) nationwide.
End SARS protests has ended well............Well done to all who risked their lives.

ReplyDeleteNigerian youths, even though this is a small victory, it clearly shows we have a voice and have power to change our destiny and create a bigger world for the next generation.
ReplyDeleteTime to demand from national, state and local authorities things are every day norm in other countries. Good road, electricity, jobs, salaries, infrastructure in our hospitals and schools, securities, youth empowerment programs and the list goes on and on. Even if you cannot go out and protest, social media is our power, use any platform (tweeter, Facebook, Instagram etc).

If the real SARS were doing what they were meant to do, we wouldn’t be in this situation.It seemed a leader at the top must have empowered them to go on this harassment and extortion spree and they went overboard. Robbery on the increase,yes but then they were not helping matters.

As a people we are power drunk and get rich quick is a factor in our everyday living. For me, this is not victory. There are no saints and angels anywhere in our nation. ReplyDeleteI would have called it victory if we have good governance,security and decent economy. If Nigeria was a developed world, i will call it victory but this, i disagree.
Crime will skyrocket
Armed robbery will go up and God forbid you call the police for rescue. These SARS will be rebranded with another name. We need police reform. Total police reform. We need good governance in Nigeria. Good leadership should be paramount. A vibrant economy that is suitable for all to thrive including entrepreneurs. We need good justice system that is fair and unbiased. Its not time to rejoice yet.
People living in areas prone to robbery will not sleep well again. Some people will use this opportunity to start their unholy night trade.
It's a start but is it enough?
Is that all we want?
