Abia Gov Ikpeazu Visits Lagos Gov Sanwo Olu And Talks About The Way Forward After EndSARS Protests

Abia state governor Okezie Ikpeazu who now thinks like an elder statesman after surviving COVID 19 visited his Lagos state counterpart Sanwo Olu on Thursday November 13,2020 and talked about the way forward after the End SARS protests...

''Following the #EndSARS protest, I have strongly advocated for the country to embark on reconciliation, reassurances and confidence building among all citizens as a way forward for the nation.

I stated this on Thursday while on a visit to my Lagos State counterpart @jidesanwoolu in Lagos.

I said it was necessary for us as a nation to embark on these exercises to further emphasise on those things that bind and unite us a people.

I used the opportunity to commiserate with families that lost loved ones and property during the protests, and was elated by the opportunity to personally convey my sympathy to the Lagos State Governor over the attack on the residence of his mother and on the palace of the Oba of Lagos during the EndSARS protest.

As a people, it is my sincere belief that we should aim to learn so much from the supreme sacrifice made by Lt Col Adekunle Fajuyi, then military Governor of former Western region, who defended his friend, Gen Aguiyi Ironsi even with his life. That action of his has elevated the ceiling of expectations of love, loyalty & patriotism between the people of Abia State and those of the entire South West.

Continuing, the Governor said such supreme sacrifice paid for a friend should challenge us as a people to be our brother's keeper.

At the end of the meeting, I expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for providing the needed ambience for Ndi Igbo to thrive in Lagos and assured that Abia State remains home for all Nigerians engaged in legitimate businesses to succeed. I advised Abians in Lagos to remain law abiding and supportive of the Government of the day''.
