CACOVID Set To Rehabilitate 44 Damaged Police Stations In Nigeria

The Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has said the Coalition Alliance Against COVID-19 will rehabilitate all the police stations that were damaged in the country as a result of wanton destruction and lootings that followed the recent #EndSARS protests.

Emefiele spoke during a press briefing in Lagos on Wednesday at the office of the CBN.
He also disclosed that CACOVID had so far spent N43.27bn on the acquisition of medical equipment and supplies, and food palliatives for the vulnerable, among others.
The CBN governor said the alliance planned to spend N150bn on youth empowerment.
He said, “CACOVID has committed to fully rehabilitate all 44 damaged and destroyed police stations nationwide in a bid to restore provision of security in affected locations.
“To further strengthen the security apparatus in the country, CACOVID has committed to provide over N100bn to procure equipment and gadgets for the Nigerian Police Force over the next two years; as our contribution to fully modernise the Nigerian Police.”
He said its preliminary analysis indicated that unemployment, particularly among the youth, was a critical factor behind the unrest.
As a result, he said, CACOVID had committed to create a high impact youth development programme that would provide technical and vocational education to over four million Nigerian youths over the next five years.
“Over N150bn is expected to be deployed towards the set up and implementation of the youth development programme, which will be available at select training centers across the country,” he said.
Emefiele said selected students on conclusion of the programme would be certified by the appropriate standards board and would be eligible to receive loans to support their entrepreneurial pursuits.
So far, he said, over N25bn would be domiciled in a fund to support these entrepreneurial pursuits, which would also include acquisition of related equipment to conduct business activities.
According to him, these efforts represent some of the essential steps that were important in rebuilding trust and preventing future unrest within the communities.

  1. Hahahahahaha, Stella, which one be pinchnewspapers again??
This is a good move but I always feel they have ulterior motive of embezzlement. Let's watch and see.

  2. Benefits of the protests!

Thank you to everyone who supported the protests, directly or indirectly.

To those killed/murdered, your killers/murderers(those that pulled the trigger and those that ordered/ enabled the order), will not go unpunished. They will never know peace. They will be afflicted in double measures what they did to you and your families.

To those that lost their businesses in the midst of the chaos, you will rise again.

So, our billionaires saw first hand what years of hunger, and anger can do to their businesses when they keep quiet because of their corporate gains from different governments!!!

Wealth in the midst of abject poverty.

"When the poor shall have nothing more to eat, they'll eat the rich
    -"Jean-Jacques Rousseau".

Let us not think that the protests happened for just a set of people. It was for every one of us.

    The demands were/are simple!
    -A right to life.
    -A right to live.
    -A right to "feel" safe.
-A right to find my daily bread since my government has refused to make provisions for certain things, the least government at all levels should do is provide an enabling environment for us to take our chances without intimidation from those that are meant to protect us.

And at the end of it all,the same institution that have harassed, maimed and killed us, are the highest beneficiaries of the reforms.

    Enough said. For now.

  3. What about rehabilitating their brains.

  4. 150 Billion on youth empowerment, when not even one youth has been empowered?
Billions on food palliatives to the vulnerable when the foods are locked down
in poli-thieves warehouses? Was it not the #ENDSARS protests that opened cacovid
nyanshes? Just continue chanting "billions, birrions," on the pages of newspapers
as if you are a bullion van siren. 😏😏😏😏😏😏😏😏

    1. Hahahahahahahahahahaha πŸ˜‚
You got me @ 'bullion sirens'
      Naija politricks...

  5. Was the protest against COVID-19 or why is cacovid 19 is the one shouldering the responsibility of rehabilitation.
