Abia Govt Earmarks N1.8bn To Offset Arrears Of Salaries Owed Workers

This is great news.................

On Friday Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, disclosed
during a radio program on BCA Radio Umuahia that his government has earmarked the sum of 1.8 Billion naira this December for the commencement of the offsetting of arrears of salaries owed to workers in some parastatals.

Some of them include ABSUTH, Abia Poly, Abia College of Education Arochukwu, College of Health Aba and Secondary Education Management Board.

According to Governor Ikpeazu, “They will get between two and three months this December. We will continue from January.
Let me make it clear that these workers must be prepared to present themselves for verification and authentication. The funds we have provided are for real workers and not ghost workers.

“I will hold the Heads of Finance and Accounts of these institutions personally responsible for the proper management of these funds, he added.

  1. You did well if it is not political statement.
But you leaders should always pay salary to workers because the annual salary of each worker is not even a quarter of money you pay a session for one of their child school fee.

  6. I don't believe anything that comes out of BCA radio cos they themselves are being owed months in arrears too but u can't complain or you lose your job.

Teachers were employed by this government in 2018 and this year were told their employment was in error and that they should all go. These people were yet to receive any dime at all upon they worked for these two years.

I was born and brought up in Umuahia and I can categorically say that Abia is a shit hole country.

  11. Why not just pay it like yesterday. Why announce it like you are doing them a favor. Its only in nail you owe months of salaries and expect folks to show up for work. Its pure wickedness!
