Author Chimamanda Slams The Southeast For Agitating For Biafra But Cant Unite For Presidency

Award-winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Adichie, has condemned those from the Southeast pushing for the actualization of Biafra, yet cannot work towards the actualization of an Igbo presidency.

Adichie in a recent interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu said it is ironical that people of the Southeast who can’t unite to ensure a Nigerian president of an Igbo extraction, are pushing for Biafra actualization.

"Igbo people cannot unite. We have a terrible leadership. For example, we say we want an Igbo president, why then are we talking about Biafra. There is a lot of political work we need to do in the Southeast. We need to do a lot of rethinking on how we can strategize politically before we can talk about Biafra.” she said.

  2. Are we not confused, we keep pursuing both without unity. Let us continue moving around, I am sure at the end we won't even get any.

      Hausas don't agree with Fulanis.
      Idomas don't relate with Igedes.
      It is everywhere nne.

Pray they don't stone you with bottle water when next you attend an Igbo function in some place.

  3. She said what she said.

Igbos are so divided. Anambra feel they are the real igbo. Abakaliki and Afikpo cannot marry peacefully despite that they are from the same state, some people call others Osu, thinking they are superior, etc.

Even during election, you'll see over 20 igbos coming for the same position.

A key reason the northerners and Yorubas are ahead politically is that when it comes to achieving a particular goal, they put aside their differences and unite to achieve it.

  4. I watched the interview.
She is right tho, ndi Igbo need to change their mindset and mentality on a lot of things before thinking of independence from Nigeria.

Can it happen? Maybe, but not anytime soon.
    One love

Everyone wants to be at the top without considering others too.

  8. Please shut up with the generalizations! Igbo people cannot unite Igbo people cannot do this and that! Yen yen yen. Crazy morafuckas. Just shut up. Have you suffered a genocide before? Do you know the effects even 60 years after? The one they United and packed their bags to go were they not butchered and killed by their neighbors for 3 years while the world looked on? Do you know what damages that has done that is being passed on? How can we unite for a president while all around us are back biters and saboteurs. Can we forget what the brown roof republic has done over and over by selling us to the north? What is our business with an Igbo presidency that we know won’t be feasible because the Hausa man has been ingrained to hate the Igbo man more passionately than the south western, what hope lies for us in a country where the other tribes open mouth and yarn opata. Should I show u a northerner killing his brother? Or a south westerner killing his kin! So how does that now translate to Igbo people having no love? People that have to work twice as hard to get political appointment in the same country? U people should go and sleep. Chimamanda you have spoken out of turn, please go and sleep. Talking about agitate for a leadership like we don’t know the south westerners are sell outs. Na the north wan vote Igbo presidency? Go and write another book my dear as I totally enjoyed zikora. Don’t come and talk here, writing suits you

    2. You want political appointment so you can carry Nigeria and sell to your brothers and still play victim. Una think say God dey sleep? The blood of those innocent children enlisted and killed in the Biafran army, is crying out to God. Go and organize yourselves and stop being silly here.

    5. @olomo Olomo put what sentiment aside? What was said here that is not the truth? Sentiment is that the north will never vote Igbo presidenncy? @ nonsense. See how u managed to vomit nonsense from your gutter.irresponsibile twat telling me the blood of young children recruited during a war by a people who had no choice but to take up arms is crying? U are a very stupid person. The blood is crying in the north and that is why they are being killed like cattle. It is crying in the middle belt because my father told me while they ran from the core north Nd got to such places thinking they had escaped they were still killed ln their numbers.

    6. @ 19.05, I think this lady should have done an igbo version for some of you who lack comprehension. Do you even understand what she is saying? What has North got to do with Igbos uniting? Forget other tribes and let there be unity amongst the Igbos for a start.
Speak with one voice, be on the same page!!!

  9. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie when it comes to Nigerian politics and Igbo leadership, YOU ARE A BABY.

You think Igbo presidency is achievable amidst two major tribes that always scheme Igbos out? THINK AGAIN!

Better still, go read the memoirs of Dim Ikemba Odimegwu Ojukwu.
