DeleteThere is no means to actually verify that you are a Nigerian when you are registering..
Your name,LGA,place of Birth and other things to fill;and all those details can be gotten online..
Now with #5000 or less you can bribe the NIMC staff doing the registration;so they fill those details,capture your image and take your fingerprint..
That's all;your NIN is ready and you just go home..

Minister of Communication and Digital Economy and you are thinking in an analogue manner...Instead of making life easy by creating an app or make people register at the comfort of your homes! Something wey dey don dey collect money since!! The whole exercise has been defeated because some people already have the fake NIN no be Nigeria! Everything is a racket!!

ReplyDeleteI am wondering the same thing. Meanwhile, Why are Nigerians not asking government critical questions. How is the authority assessing who is a Nigerian? In a country that insurgency and terrorism is rife and the government admitted that foreign elements are in the country, is not possible that this exercise to capture these rogue elements as citizens?
DeleteI watched a programme in Channels TV where a guest was saying that all Fulani's in Africa are Nigerians and they have started a project to give them identity in Nigeria. I am sure someone watched the programme. I am very concern about the procedure of rolling an identification card in a short term manner without adequate mechanism put in place to assess who really is Nigerian.
This process should have been long term in a way that the system gradually build a database that integrates someone's personal I.D number to his/her national passport, bank, school, etc. I do not understand the type of people who manage these institutions and their level of competencies. I weep for Nigeria because the country don't even understand the mess terrorism has on its image. Apologies for any error! I was typing out of frustration.
