WildAid works to reduce global consumption of wildlife products and to increase local support for conservation efforts. The organization also works with governments and partners to protect fragile marine reserves from illegal fishing and shark finning, to enhance public and political will for anti-poaching efforts, and to reduce climate change impacts.
Speaking about her appointment, Ms. Linus said, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to pass on the message of preserving the incredible species that live in our natural world. Does Nigerians know what wildlifelse conservation is? They kill and eat any living thing that comes their way.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to her on the appointment but they should start a grassroot education on wildlife conservation if they want to see results not just appointing a celebrity.

ReplyDeleteThe greatest threat to the environment in Africa and in Nigeria is bad governance. I like her for using nollywood to rebrand and get out with her exposed husband but bad governance with no drainage, the erosion of the Atlantic Ocean, lack of city and town planning and throwing plastics from pure water, (no portable water fountains in public places), and other environmentally dangerous stuff out there is the threat. If anybody remembers the Indonesian Tsunami, Nigeria cannot survive that kind of Tsunami as it will wash away the entire Lagos and SS/SE. The greatest danger to awareness in Nigeria is the representation by folks who know little about the subject matter. No offense and in Jesus Name there will be no such Tsunami in Nigeria. Wildlife conservation is only for Oyinbo to come and see animals they wiped out in their countries in Africa. I have lived in states here where a family of deer would come behind my house in winter. They built houses and wiped off their animals as it should be but want us to keep animals and live in huts so they can vacation in our own countries to see the wildlife they killed when they built suburbs on their land. We need houses too in our country. Eating wildlife is here too during hunting season, they just don’t have a lot again.
ReplyDeleteThe hunting season is there to allow them hunt but Google Trump’s son with their game (killed wildlife) in Southern Africa. It’s a colonial cause as our continent isn’t for animals. Why did they kill off most of their own? They preserve their trees but commissioned the cutting of all our timber and trees for their high end furniture. You need city permission here to cut any tree on your own property but they cut ours for pittance, with our own people cooperating. Were they thinking on conservation as animals live in forests and forests have trees.
