The Adventures Of Oko Ashawo The Uber Driver - 57

On New Year’s Eve as I was about dropping off my passenger on my last trip for the day, the unthinkable happened. As she opened the door, a bike man rammed into it and fell down with his bike. I quickly ran to assist him but he lay on the floor motionless. .....Wahala!!!

In a few minutes, lots of bike men gathered and I was almost rough handled. They mandated me to take the ‘injured’ bike man to the hospital for treatment and I would also bear the cost of repairs of the bike. Meanwhile, on a closer look, there was a minor scratch on the door of my car and there was no damage on the motorbike at all. The year that was to end in a few hours now started to look like it would end in a decade. 


I had to put on my thinking cap really fast and prayed to God for the wisdom to handle the situation. It seemed to me at that very moment that the bike man was trying to play a fast one as I suspected there was nothing wrong with him. I also discovered that my female passenger that caused the issue in the first place had left. 

An idea came to me and I acted on it at once. I ran forward and shouted … “trailer is coming”. Immediately, the bike man that feigned injury got up and ran to the side of the road with some other bike men that had gathered.

It was then I changed it for them saying the guy was trying to extort me as absolutely nothing happened to him. When they realized the game was over, they took their bikes and left one after the other.

I thank God for the wisdom in handling this situation. Na so person for go enter last minute gbese for last year.

I had planned to attend the cross-over service in my church but opted to participate online instead.
