    1. It is you that is ignorant. Many of the cows are owned by businessmen/politicians. Many of them launder their money that way. Imagine a politician with say 10,000 cows @ N150,000 each that is N1.5Billion! If he builds houses or buys cars with the money of course people will petition EFCC. So he buys cows which are scattered all over the country and he gets Fulani or Hausa herders to take care. The cows feed freely and the owner pays no tax to government!
Why do you think they are so against ranching? Because then their cattle population can be easily identified and government can now ask the politician how he acquired the N1.5b to buy the cows and even ask him to pay appropriate taxes and in addition he will even get to feed his cattle instead of their feeding freely in people’s farms!

  4. We might have not have Yoruba or Igbo herders but we do have Yoruba and Igbo business men. Who do you think gives the herders the cows to herd?

  5. On a serious note, why can't both the YORUBAS AND IGBOS start herding cows like their Northern brothers and maybe show the Northerners how cows are herd? The south alone (Lagos) eats 80% of all the COW meat that comes from these herdsmen...Onions and tomatoes all come from the North. Tell me, if the North stopped all these from being delivered to the south, how would we in the south even survive?
We keep shouting Fulani herdsmen all the time (Not that I support what they do to our land) but what do we feed ourselves with when all the able bodied young men are all into yahoo and money rituals and our women slaying on IG and sleeping with their grand fathers for G-wagon money?
Perhaps it's time to change strategy and start raising, herding and ranching our own cows to show the North how's it done?

    1. Good contribution, last week some Fulani were caught in Ondo state mining gold in their forest, the state government did not even no, meanwhile most of the people are in the city struggling to be okada, or doing rituals and fraud like you said, we abandoned our forest to foreigner and we are shouting I think we need to have a rethink and re strategizise. Igbe lowo wa.

  7. People who rear chickens have poultry, there are others who rear goats and pigs but we don’t see them destroy farms or kill people to feed their animals, why can’t the government find the cow owners and hold them responsible for the herds destructions? The cow owners are rich business men and the herders are only employees so they should work to know the owners of these cows and hold them responsible! The government should hold the cow owners responsible if pig and poultry farmers can buy land and contain their animals why can’t cow owners do same? Now they are saying government must provide ranches for them did the government provide poultry and pig farmers any land? Cow owners must buy land to ranch their herds instead of making their personal business problems our national problem and causing so much insecurity in the country.

  8. A Yoruba Man is not a name

    What is his name?

  9. Anon 04:16, Thank you! The Yoruba men have no names? A Yoruba proverb says “a child is given a name so that when he does something he or she can be called out”. This is the typical fulani tactic of divide and conquer. No wonder some are abusing Sunday Igboho! We know the cows do not belong to the herders who wear dirty torn clothing and live lives of poverty when one cow can be up to N200,000. We know a rich man whose cows are in Daura. We really don’t care who owns the cows since they are nameless. All we are saying is that we cannot call “Cows Senior Brother just because we want to eat beef”. It is the responsibility of the owners to house (ranch), feed their cows and develop operational framework for those they employ as herdsmen. It’s a business. There is no debit without a credit and no business generates revenue without expenditure, using people’s farms while employees share kidnapping proceeds.

That was how the mafioso operated here before they were all taken down by the feds. Southerners, they take cow do una for village? It’s red meat and it’s not good for your health. Owambe will not kill us in Jesus name. Boycott purchase and use of cows and watch them leave. On a very serious note, climate change has dried up the entire lake chad, forcing Fulanis of all countries to southern Nigeria. The south has also sold all its timber’s and deforestation is affecting the south. The little farmland is being eaten by cows! If we had a Goverment, they will pump water from river Niger, river venue and river gongola to create more Sam Issa and return cattle and herdsmen to the north. Global warming is in Nigeria just look at satellite pics of lake chad. The south can adopt Thailand’s measure to carry out a massive reforestation project using airplanes to dip seeds in areas where sale of timber has damaged the forest. May we never see a tsunami or hurricane in Naija as the country won’t know what to do and all the mansions and islands will be gone, God forbid. It’s a little more complex but Sunday and his followers are treating the symptoms, the root cause needs a cerebral government together to work instead of abusing him and those happy to see someone stand up to the empty headed bullies in the corridors of power.

  10. In not investing in ranches and doing things properly, they cheat themselves as the cows look as malnourished as the herders. In other countries including Africa, the same cows produce fresh milk for the populace. I did my NYSC in the late 80s in a hospital in Oyo State then ( now Osun) and bought fresh cow milk (Wara), daily. The cows can generate millions of gallons fresh milk if ranching and feeding/hiring vet doctors is done properly. Nigerians drink bad milk, powdered, canned milk has bad preservatives. In many countries, fresh milk which expires within a week to 2 weeks is the healthy way to go. In all I blame ALL politicians and those close to politicians for not telling the truth, Reuben Abti types, Reno Omokra types, side chicks etc.

Politicians and their co sojourners have taken Nigeria back to 1940. We post used regular cars and purses mainstream as gifts when those are not what makes the places you travel to, great. The same oil money that built UAE, Dubai, was stolen from Nigeria leaving the people poor and admiring those that de-feminize their womanhood to get crumbs they could have bought on their own. There are no real feminists in Nigeria. Feminists fought for women to vote in America, fought for women to have a right to WORK outside the home, fought for FMLA or family leave to care for children and loved ones with pay. If you eat crumbs of air headed politicians and their cronies, you are culpable in turning Naija into what it has become. “Though hand join in hand, the wicked will not go unpunished”.

If there was good governance, you can buy a Mercedes or infinity or any car by practicing your vocation. My hairdresser drives a Mercedes C class and my cleaning lady drives a Ford SUV because she has a large family. She works hard and with no education, she collects $80 + $20 tip from about 40 houses per month. The hairdresser went to a beauty school for some months and charges $65 for relaxer, $15 to trim and shape afterwards, $150 for braids or sew weaves etc. Naijas will come here and be doing it inside the apartment for only Africans and don’t bother going to beauty schools for 3-6months, getting licensed, and being exposed to a more affluent clientele. They remain where they are, in the underground economy., not paying taxes or contributing to SS & Medicare for retirement. Demand good governance. Bullies get scared easily. See the fear Igboho put in their hearts. Demand a better Nigeria if the MLK by vocation types will not do it. Don’t just go to malls when you travel abroad.

There are artificial lakes in every subdivision in the Midwest or prairies that water is pumped into from every home there when it rains to prevent flooding in homes. I show it to my guests as they even put ducks there to make it look real but there is no intellectual curiosity to transfer permanent good policy ideas to naija. Shopping upon shopping. Why don’t we learn from visiting these places? It’s more than designer bags. They will set up Louis Vuitton, Ferragamo, Gucci, Versace, etc shops if we get our Naija house in order. Nigeria once had Greyhound buses plying its roads in the 70s, we once assembled VW, Peugeot, in Lagos, Mercedes buses in Anambra etc. What went wrong is greed. Greed destroys a nation, it’s a reproach to any nation. We lack Statesmen and women looking out for the common good. Nigeria is like a beautiful lady with no serious suitors that every man wants to taste but not marry. Prof Soyinka called his generation “a wasted generation”, back then. We now have 3 wasted generations. Is it yahaya or Makinde representing any generation? Or FFK, or El Rufai or Ganduje? We have brains of youths wasting away with Youtubers who don’t practice before recording bad English and wondering why they don’t have subscribers. I pray for Nigeria to be great and to be in peace.
