  1. This one is not new na. They have been charging me for all transactions before. Wait, will they add this #6 to the former charges that my banks charged in the past?

    1. Not at all. It's now N6.98 flat rate. Remember, some Network provider charges as high as N10-N20 depending on the transaction.

      It's a very good development.

    2. I believe it was the banks that were charging and not the network providers. This means that the bank charges have now been reduced to a regulated rate of N6.98. It is a good development.

    1. USSD in summary is Those number you dial on your phone example *894# So you can transfer money or pay bills or other transaction on first bank(other banks have their code)..

It's been free all these while and they want people to start paying per transaction..

    2. Martins permit me to correct you. It has never been free. You see all this started because of the greed of our banking sector. The ussd service is provided by mobile network, the bank has always removed charges without remitting to the service provider. It didn’t sit well with service providers as they too started removing it from customers sim balance. Glo used to charge 5 naira then , dunno about now. CBN got wind of it and stopped this broad daylight thieving by banks. So now for each ussd transaction a fee of 6 naira will be deducted from your account and remitted to service providers. It’s actually a good thing, rather than pay double you pay once.
