The FAQ Post on Stella's Blog attends to serious questions that require proper answers..... So we say ''Ask and you shall be answered'' if there is an answer.

One Blog visitor asked..

''Dear BVs I am thinking of starting a bespoke fashion line for corporate and trending outfits(online store on IG). The challenge is that I live in the North and my target market cuts across all states, including Lagos and the likes. Will it be possible to capture the Lagos market even though I am in the North? Also will this line of business thrive?''

Another asked....

''Hi BV doctors in the house, please what causes severe Jaundice in infants and how can it be prevented?''

    3. Poster one, let me not lie to you. It will be very challenging. Once I see that a seller lives just in Ibadan, I leave their page. I live in Lagos and I believe a good number of people are like that too. Except it’s a very scarce item. Shopping online means comfort and convenience. My attitude to you will be “don’t stress me pls”.
If you’re ready to try, give it a go. Or maybe focus on the Abuja market.
You might not conquer the whole Nigeria at once. Know that and know peace. Focus on target markets or be a person chasing after numerous rabbits and catching none.
      All the best hun.

    5. Ask of Chukwudi in plastic line at Utako market, they have so different varieties and sizes of containers.

  2. Like I always say, be good at what you do. When people see your work and are impressed, they will patronize you from wherever they are.
    Endeavor to use good/quality fabrics.
Also, when venturing into this business, do not expect to sell out once or expect to make so much profit. You’ll need patience.
Be consistent and try to be spontaneous. And yes, it will thrive by Gods grace.

    4. I drank cold water a lot when I was pregnant. My baby was very healthy when she was born to weeks ago but she has cattarh now though which I believe is as a result of exposure to AC and not the cold water I drank when I was pregnant

      Delete
    5. No bad effect. U crave for cold water because of the hot amniotic fluid where d baby swims in d uterus, making u feel warm inside.

      Delete
    6. Drinking cold water while pregnant, will not affect your baby. Drink on.

      Delete
    7. I drank cold water all through pregnancy and after. Nothing bad happened.

      Delete
    8. Cold water will not affect your baby though my mum will always advice, once you enter your 9th month, you should cease drinking cold stuff and rather take warm water instead. You should also be taking your bath with warm/hot water. Her reason is that cold water delays labor, I don't know if this is scientifically proven but I do adhere to it once I enter my 9th month.

    1. Ask your doctor to recommend saline nasal drops for babies. Also him if you can use rubber bulb syringe or suctions.

      Delete
    2. Don't give any thing else. Just intensify breastfeeding. Breastmilk have a lot of antibodies that will help the baby fight infections like cold, cough and catarrh. Cover baby well, especially d feets, chest and head. Avoid dusty environment, do not keep baby directly under d fan or AC. U can get eucalyptus oil and add little drops to baby's bathing water. If it persist, see a paediatrician

    3. Like Phoenix said, get the bulb syring and nasal saline spray (I use calpol saline spray).

    6. @Spanish na mama dey determine size of her son penis not father.

    7. Phoenix how?

      Delete
    8. At Phoenix, NO not always. Per google based on y(male) and x(female) chromosome, If size was entirely from the Y chromosome, men with the same father would all have essentially the same penis. But if size is largely due to the X chromosome, then it’s possible for one son to inherit penis size genes from one X chromosome, and one from the other.

Our journey is in 3 months time...

    1. Babies less than 1year do have special discounts and can even be free dependingon the policy. Baby will need a seat.

      Delete
    2. You will pay a token and you will be seated at the front role with adequate leg space. Your baby will not get a seat. But you will be very comfortable through out the trip. When I travelled with my 1 year old back then on Arik to UK I carried her throughout but I was very comfortable through out. And she played while walking in the plane through out the trip. The air hostess saw something that day. She scattered everywhere. And they gave her so much to keep her busy.

  13. Bv with child with Jaundice: It is caused by excess bilirubin in the blood-a yellow pigment in blood. Also when a baby's liver is not fully developed it will be unable to break haeme a byproduct in the synthesis of haemoglobin.

My advice during pregnancy eat foods rich in Vitamin D, Omega 3, Fruits, legumes and vegetables.

Frequent breastfeeding of your newborn will help baby reduce excessive bilirubin. Phototherapy or early morning sunbathing of babies between 8am - 9am for 2 days is enough. Follow up with your doctor to check progress and follow tests as well. Excess bilirubin is dangerous and can affect the brain. All the best

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There are many causes of Neonatal jaundice and some may not be avoided. Like in d case of blood group incompatibility. When d baby takes after d father's blood group, that is different from the mother's, it may spark up reaction, causing excessive breakdown of d baby’s red blood cell, leading to overload of bilirubin which d baby’s liver may not be able to eliminate. The high concentration of it in d baby’s body results in jaundice. My advice to mothers is that they check baby’s SB after birth. Dont always be in a hurry to go home. And if baby have jaundice, await and get it treated. Dont go and sun d baby at home

      Delete
    2. Exactly, mine was caused by blood incompatibility, he took after his father's blood group. We found out on day 10 and he was given blood by his dad. This is my experience

  17. Dear bvs please how can I cure this constant UTI that's been tormenting my life. I have it on and off for more than six years now and it's causing so much discomfort, I'm barely able to sleep well. Please help me I'm tired of taking antibiotics and it's not sex causing it cos I've had sex in more than 4 years, neither is it hygiene or lack of it. Pls

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Poster go and see a doctor. And please stop self medicating. I say this everytime on this blog. Now the microorganisms will build resistance against antibiotics. Go and see a doctor. Self treatment will not help you. UTI is not something you keep to yourself.

      Delete
    2. UTI is not caused by sex. When you touch your anus & touch your vulva(urine hole) at the same time, bacteria from your anus getting there is what causes UTI.

Now, stop washing your anus towards the front, wash from the back(your bum) & wash your hands with soap & water immediately.
Secondly, repeated UTI is very dangerous.. you need to see a doc for proper treatment because prolonged UTI can lead to kidney issue, back pain, PID etc.
Got to the hospital right now & complete the dosage of whatever drug you're given!

  18. Please can a three month old baby take custard/pap?
And if she can.please which milk can I use in feeding her with the pap/ custard?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you cannot breastfeed exclusively feed her formula until she is 6 months before you introduce pap.

      Delete
    2. Please don't give a 3months old pap/custard. Just get a baby milk for less than 1yr and give d baby. U can give this and also continue breastfeeding, except u are not breastfeeding.

      Delete
    3. I hate custard with a passion!..
Please dont feed your little baby that poison!..
      Pap is better!..
You can start from 6 months with any follow on milk..
The only meal the baby need now is breast milk or formula!..
During my child bearing time,I used SMA gold..
      That was several years ago..
I dont know if the milk is still in existence but you can ask other mothers what they use now..

      Delete
    4. Homemade pap is better, too much preservatives in custard.
You can add Nan or My boy formula to the pap. No sugar please.

      Delete
    5. We were told not to feed baby anything but breastmilk or formula for at least 6 months because their digestive system is still developing and can't handle it. Pls don't give ur baby yet.

      Delete
    6. If you do not want to do exclusive breastfeeding, yes, a 3 month old can take pap(not custard pls). If possible, please try and process the pap yourself as your baby is still very tender. Also, when preparing the pap, make it slightly watery.
For the milk to use, there are many in the markets but the ones I have used are NAN and Peak 0-12. So either you buy NAN 1 or you get peak 0-12( not peak 123) ooo
      All the best.

      Delete
    7. Please don't give your baby anything else apart from breast milk or age appropriate milk to avoid digestive issue till he/she is 6 month. Home made pap is even better and cheaper than custard. God will provide for you.

      Delete
    8. If the breast milk is not enough for him, you can give the baby pap with milk no sugar o.

      No shaking.

    it difficult

    ReplyDelete

    1. D secret to getting a high band score in listening is constant practicing. Know more synonyms and the different forms in which word can take. Practice spelling correctly, if possible, put off ur prediction option on ur phone, concentrate and pay attention to word limits. Short word answers are somehow similar for Reading and listening . As for speaking, practice talking about ursef to people u can talk freely with, using idioms, and words that express how u feel.d speaking test is mostly about u, and maybe trends sometimes. Know how to talk eloquently about ur work/school, environment, ur house, whether, experiences etc. When u practice offten and very well, what u will see on d exam day will be a walk over.

      Delete
    2. For map reading, which u may not even be given on that day. Before the audio starts, note all sides of the map, that is, north, south, east, and west. Look out for labels like main entrance, door, street, 'start here' etc. Take note of the labelled places before d adios starts. Pay attention to instructions. Also pay attention to directions and relationship between two things, eg, A is behind B, etc. Just practice more, and always go back to redo the ones u didn't get correctly. I wish u success

Try schooling in UK with scholarship.

Try US Visitor visa (but this is very tricky because with 3 children, it will be difficult for you to maneuver your way without papers)

Continue saving but start Canada express entry now.

Go to Scandinavian countries to study for free (but cold weather and language barrier may be a problem for you).

Australia also has express entry, a sound economy and very friendly weather. It’s very good there. Google and study it and try it.

    1. I don't think anyone can prescribe a drug over the internet especially since you're currently nursing.

Try and gargle your mouth with warm water and salt or peel garlic and squeeze the water in the hole.

Best bet is to remove it.

  34. Pls I have a career question. I hope you respond. Thanks

I’m a lawyer of well over 5 years but I want to go into core business in the corporate world now. Starting at MBA at Lagos business school looks almost unrealistic because of the very high costs.

I’m pursuing my LLM at Unilag (just for the degree)and some other law related courses but I really want to change careers to Branding/Strategy/Business process improvement etc in a multinational.

    How do I start pls???

    1. My advice will be. Why not take up major on branding/Strategy/Business side of the Law. Check out any professional courses that also specialize on what you want to venture into since you don't wanna do MBA.

Intl professional course will give you an edge. I hope this helps. You can check certedgetrain on google for more info.
