Saturday In House Gists - Addictions You Conquered / Cannot Conquer

Do you have weird addictions that you have tried to conquer but cannot? This topic is a must read and must comment because we all have or have had addictions....

For some, it could be s#x, for some food, for some drinks or something else never heard before....

What addictions have you been able to conquer and which ones still hold you bondage?

I stopped drinking Coke 5 years ago and it still feels like yesterday.... I feel good about this because when i was taking Coke, I NEVER drank water.

I stopped smoking 5 years ago also and it still feels like yesterday... I still have a pack somewhere in my Wardrobe and smile whenever I run into it, its my proof that i gave it up and won..... Sometimes i crave to smoke one but the feeling goes away again in seconds......

What are you addicted to? Gbenshing? drugs? food? stealing? lying? love? You can comment as Anonymous if you are shy but ''why shall you shy'' ? You no kill person!

Let's gist!

  1. I am addicted to COKE.
My parents don’t like it when I take it. What I do? I buy and hide in my wardrobe or box.
Same way I was addicted to Mountain Dew back in the Uni. Infact, I used to buy the crate and hide under my bed. God help me.

    1. It's a stimulant addiction. Funfact...coke is made from Coca leave extract, so it's addiction potential is quite high

  4. I'm so scared of addictive behaviors because I lost a brother to alcohol addiction (cirrhosis) last year.
My niece who has been living with me for the past 11yrs (her mum is late) and is presently in the university told me yesterday night that she wants to sell some clothes to a thrifts clothes seller to raise some money because she's broke. Meanwhile, her bring broke is because she wasted her monthly allowance on frivous stuff(her needs are met by me). I was really bothered and I couldn't sleep at night because I know someone who started like this several years ago and till now sells mattress, gas cooker etc anytime she's broke to the embarrassment of her husband and family.
Imagine my disappointment when I mentioned it to my daughter and she didn't see anything wrong with it. I feel bothered because my belief is if it becomes a habit, and since being broke now and then is part of life, she will always look for what to sell to raise cash and could start selling household items/jewelry or my clothes sef

I came back from vigil around 2am this morning, went straight to the freezer and brought out egusi soup, made semo and devoured it immediately. Hubby wanted to give me side eyes but I gave him evil look and he faced front. When I finished eating I crawled to the bed and fiam!

Back in the day I smoked weed.

I stopped weed one day after I almost went Craaay. The guy that sells Skunk to me must have laced that last wrap I took. My brain was charging at 1000amps per second. Flashing lights errwhere, I couldn't sit, I couldn't stand, I ran out of that lounge by 1am. How I drove home without any accident is still a mystery to me. That is how people run mad oooo. The next morning I woke up and decided never ever again! I can't use my money and buy stuff that will kill me . That was my last smoke.

I think I'm still addicted to coke. I take like 4-7 cans in a week.

Sex, I've got that under control...... Alcohol once in a while , a bottle of wine or a few bottles.

Las Las self discipline is key., In almost all areas I've mastered myself.

      Apart from indulging in Coke/pepsi...

Madam Stella , I greet you.

      On 2 the Next!

  8. Hmmmmm.. used to be a smoker, right from university days, all my girls i dated both then and presently also smoked. 4 years ago i gave it up. stopped smoking, and its been a journey cos its not been easy. The major issue right now is that i work with British American Tobacco right now, and GOD has been faithful. imagine quitting smoking and getting a job in an industry where you are fighting your addiction and by GOD i have not smoked a stick since i said No to it, even though i work there now. A proof that GOD was in the matter for me.That's a huge miracle. Also, i used to take coca cola a lot, trust me every meal there had to be coke on the side, then my sister told me if you want to stop , and you have to, just tell yourself anytime you feel the urge to take coca cola or any soft drink, just say this is poison and i will not drink it. Funny enough it worked! 2 years now, i am no longer a soft drink addict. Lastly, i am trying to deal with the fact that i like older women, its a crazy addiction, i just find them smarter and i am comfortable having conversations with them. i kinda like single older women . they stimulate me mentally and i kinda pick their brains. i find that attractive. i need to deal with that.

    1. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with older women. Prince Charles, Prince William and Harry all have that in common. You can stop if you don’t feel okay with it for the long term but I don’t think it’s a bad thing.

  10. I was addicted to maturation, but made a new year resolution on the 1st of January 2021. Its been over 4months now! Anytime I feel like touching myself, I feel disgusted and d urge just disappear immediately. I now enjoy excellent sexual relationship with my husband, as against d selfish one I once had with him. Those days, because I could pleasure myself, I could allow fights last for long, I can stay away from him, even when we share she bed every day and night. I didn't care if he doesn't come to me. But now, its so beautiful sharing something as beautiful as love making with my husband.

  11. I was addicted to a drug that ends with 'cine'. Each time I feel down or angry, I go for it. But I know it is bad. So I told myself that I don't need substance to help me cope. It's been a very long while now, I haven't had a dose. I made sure I don't have any, so that whenever I crave for it, I just deal with my issues without d drug. I cope better now, and relate well with people, instead of always withdrawing each time I an confronted with a difficult situation.

  16. It's masturbation. Sometimes once every 6 months and other times 3 months. Not addicted. Its just good to feel an orgasm after a long dry spell. Husbandman never has a clue how to give me one, so I help myself on the rare occasion I get the urge.

  18. I am not addicted to anything per se, but stories on sex or sex related scandalous stories (like the chronicles of yesterday) trigger me to watch porn or seek out another scandalous story e.g how a person is having an affair/sex with a priest, how a person became a lesbian etc.
It is when I am bored and can't be satisfied by any scandalous story, that I seek out porn.

Now the funny thing is that I don't like porn, I google porn and when videos come out, I scroll and scroll through, looking for the one to watch and I never really get to watch anyone. If I attempt to watch any, I usually can't go past 2 minutes. So I despise porn, I don't enjoy it, yet I go searching for it. At least once in every two months,3 or even 4 months, I go seeking porn.

It doesn't even really arouse me, I try to arouse myself mentally and since I don't know how to masturbate or touch myself, I try to drag myself on the bed (it is usually a futile effort).

Why I go in search of something I abhor makes absolutely no sense to me. It even fills me with disgust, yet I can't seem to help it always. I still did it yesterday and my last episode was sometime in January.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that I haven't really experienced deep arousal, since I haven't had sex yet and haven't really explored sexually. I will be 30 by June.

I just want to stop totally.. God should please help me.

  20. I had an addiction of gambling in b**9**. I would borrow heavily from loan apps just to gamble, I mean the casino games. Whenever I start, it's like a spirit has taken over me and I won't be able to control myself anymore. My hands would be shaking terribly and I'd still gamble. I won't be able to eat or do anything.
After exhausting all the monies I borrowed and also my salary, it then dawned on me that my life was in shambles. I just gave myself brain and decided to close my account with them and face my remaining life. Now I'm in so much debt and having a constant chest pain from being in fear everyday but I'm glad that I took that step. At least I am no longer a slave to gambling and once an account is closed, you won't be able to open another one. I get so glad whenever I see the screenshot I made when closing the account cos it reminds me that I can actually take a firm decision in my life

    1. You have to stop it. It's very harzadous to your health. My mum chews like#500 nzu everyday.she got soo addicted to it that it brought issues between she and my dad. She started hiding it in her pant basket, in the oven, in the freezer. And whenever she noticed that my dad has found it, probably thrown it away(she won't ask him)she will change the location. This continued until she had pile. After d treatment, she continued again. Until she developed a sickness that was linked to the tearing of her uterine wall or something.she went ahead eating it. My dad had to call my grandpa who cautioned her soo much that she cried. After that incident, she stopped it. Thank God she survived the sickness and she's in good health now. But she moved to taking soda. Ah! My mum can easily get addicted.
