ReplyDeleteHe was armed during the robbery so the offence attracts the death penalty. Doesn't matter if he was armed with a gun, a knife or a cutlass.

ReplyDeleteThe penalty for Armed Robbery under the Criminal Code in the South which Ekiti falls under is the death penalty.
Also know that the judge in delivering its sentence will not prescribe a punishment that is outside what is provided for under the provisions of the criminal code.
Armed Robbery is such that it is committed with the use of a deadly weapon with the intent to dispossess property(ies). What if in the course of the act of the Robbery, the deadly instrument is used.
Another scenario: You are witnessing a Robbery going on and the robbers are brandishing deadly weapons. Won't you be afraid and hand over everything to avoid being killed or injured.
It is for this reason that Armed Robbery attracts the death penalty.
Fayemi, Bubu, Asiwehin, woluusan, all of them with their cronies and armed police whose arms their using to commit their own robbery should join him as they stole and still are stealing more than this man.
