Detailed Information For Those That Want To Migrate To Canada -Part 2

This information is for those who want to travel out of Nigeria and have the money but don't know the first step.

If you also can access the money from friends and relations then you can proceed.

If you don't mind temperatures of up to -40 degrees and paying a lot of taxes but still having basic amenities provides for you with peace of mind, then my dear Canada is for you. All of these information was done by my own research from the government of Canada website and naira***d ( you will have to spend time doing your own research as well)

For study visa, you will need at least N10m as proof of funds sitting in your account or a sponsors account for six months before applying for visa.
But you research for schools first, apply to them with your transcripts (2.2 and below would have to go for a Post graduate diploma while 2.1 and above can apply for a masters direct)

Get admission, then pay acceptance fee, before applying for visa. You would also need to write the IELTS academic and score at least L7,R7,S7,W7.
School fees is about 4m to be paid in two installments. It's best to look for a 2year program so you can apply for a 3year post graduate work permit which will give you enough time to apply for permanent residence after school. Which is the ultimate goal of going through study visa.

PART 2

This is the detailed step by step process for Express Entry (EE) migration.

The truth is that there are lots of ways to migrate legally to Canada but many of us (myself included) usually opt for the EE because it is the easiest (in my opinion).

First step is have your proof of funds(POF) sitting in your account before you start or hopefully like 2 months into when you have begun the process. The reason is that when Canada invites you to submit an application for permanent residence, you will be required to submit your last six months bank statements and if any huge amount that can't be explained has come into your account, they will assume you borrowed that money so you don't have enough to live on in Canada until you get a job.

Important information, if you can, withdraw your money, buy dollars and save in a domiciliary account. E get why. Naira loses value everyday, and while you may have your complete POF when you start the process, by the time you are invited, naira may have lost its value again and you would have a deficit.

I I wish I knew this at the beginning of mine. I needed 7.1M for my size of family, six months later naira equivalent needed was 8.2M. But if I had saved it in dollars I wouldn't have needed to source for extra money. To know the correct amount needed for a single person and other family size just google "proof of funds for Canada migration".

Next step, have your highest degree evaluated with a foreign body. Those in the medicine line, google yours. Law degree will open an account with IQAS or ICES (google the correct spelling) all other degrees can evaluate with WES (which I did)
Create an account with WES (on their website) enter your details, pay a fee of 230CAD (about 80k or so) then go to your Alma mater and request transcripts of your highest degree.

Pay for it. Ensure you take a number of someone there to help you follow up. When the evaluating body receives your transcripts they will acknowledge you, then they will send photocopies to your institution to verify that they actually sent those papers. Some schools, you will pay extra for verification. (I know, the process is tiring. You need a basket of patience and prayers to embark on this journey).

Follow up with your school on the verification matter otherwise time would be going and nothing will be done. This process takes a while(mine took four months, a friends own took one year) so start as soon as possible.

Next step, IELTS. Spend 2-3 months studying the techniques of the exam, the different patterns needed in answering the Speaking part, the grammar they need in the Writing part, how to concentrate for 23minutes listening to various recordings and answering the questions at the same time for the Listening part, and then master True/False/Not Given in the Reading part.

Don't worry, by the time you start practicing you will understand what all these means. I aced my ielts at one sitting with the grace of God and intense practice for four months. My ID name should tell you I was a telemundo fan, but during my IElts practice I never watched TV for one day. The exam is written twice every month and it costs 79k per exam. That is not chicken change so you want to spend a lot of time preparing for it. Some persons I know wrote it 3,5,9 times. Someone I know spent over 700K writing IELTs.

You can practice with IeltsLiz, Crack Ielts with Rob (YouTube) E2 language (YouTube) get practice questions from IELtS British Council website and IDP/MOD.

Someone asked me if the study route favors family.

You get the admission then apply for study visa for only yourself. If granted (the visa officers have to be convinced you are coming back to naija hence you apply for only yourself) you travel, start school then apply for your spouse and kids to join you. Your spouse gets a work permit and your kids attend free school. I don't know if healthcare is free for study visa holder's but it's free for permanent residence. All these free healthcare and kids education comes out of the heavy taxes residents pay though.

  1. I just finished CIMA exams. Prepping now for IELTS. My transcript is still hanging. I just hope proof of funds would not be my issue. My contact who has gone through the process told me you he funded his account at the last minute and wrote a letter stating he got the funds from his parents

    1. This line ...."If you also can access the money from friends and relations then you can proceed"

They must have 100% trust in you knowing you can succeed.
To help these days is like taking a risk, especially when it comes to money issue.

    2. 🎤🎤Any family member who can declare such amount in your account must have total 100% trust in you. Be grateful if you find one.
🤔Not many people even leave cash lying in bank account, mine is invested in assets. But u have manged to stake and invest in people in the past(not now anymore).
Secondly, please and please folks, check your attitude, behavior and manner of speech so that it is not the stumbling mountain between yourself and your glory.
🙏🙏Be grateful to those who take chances, borrow you something and believe in you.
Above all, you must have to drop that mentality that anyone(family and friends who have not bought something in credit from you, or actually collected your cash as loan) owes you money to travel abroad.
🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I don't know who needs to hear this and free their heart of bitterness.
Just work hard and trust God.
      Ask questions too???????

Hopefully, they'll start issuing COPRs now and then work on piled up applications.

    1. Yes you can. ND and HND gives you 2 or more certificates which is higher than BSC in terms of score in the immigration process

    2. HND and OND gives you more points than Bsc sef. They would both be evaluated as Two or More Certificates.

  11. Canada increased pof yesterday and a single applicant will have to show like 5.2m compared to 3.4m that it was 2 years ago. The poster gave the best advice, just change to USD. 2019 when I applied, I had more than the pof, I was to show about 12k Cad but I had over 18k cad. Today that 18k cad in naira is like 11k cad. I don't know who we have offended in Nigeria. Naira has no value. Can they please go to Ghana and ask how the Cedi was revamped and resurrected? At this rate, a pound will equal 1000 naira by December. Better still, Bubu go for check up and give Osinbajo free reign for 3 months. The last time Osinbajo managed to bring dollar down to 360 naira may he can do that again.

    1. Your application is locked down with the exchange rate that was used then. I don't think you need to update the money if you don't have.
The increment applies to people who are still awaiting ITA.
Not sure it applies to people who have ITA but haven't submitted their application.
Family of 3 now needs about 6.8M, naira is messing people up big time.
If you convert your money to dollar sef, it might not be enough by the time you're applying, except you withdraw the dollar (if its in a dom account) and then change back to naira. Remember the conversion rate is not dependent on black market dollar price.

  12. Best to change the money to forex as suggested but I'm sceptical about domiciary account. This Buhari's government is crazy, they keep putting restrictions on dom accounts before your money go hook. Unless you can plan I advance, as at May when I went to the bank, I was told I could take out 2K usd monthly. So if you can plan and br taking it out in bits or maybe you can get traveller's cheque. Just make sure Buhari Buhari doesn't hang your money

  17. Thanks for this info. I have a question.

My hubby has an OND and HND while I have a B. Sc. My sister lives in Canada with her family. I saw some comments up there saying ond & HND will give a higher score compared to Bsc.

Will it be better my husband be the primary applicant using my sister as family member since he has more certs? Or I should use mine since she's my sister? We are considering the PNP route. He's in his 40s while I'm in my 30s.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Your husband can not claim sinking points from your sister. It has to be a direct relative.

      Delete
    2. @reasonable doubt, not true. Her husband can claim sibling point from his sister in law if the sister (his wife) is accompanying.

@ poster,he has the educational point advantage with his HND over your B.sc, however such things as the person with the best ielts scoring potential, age and work experience are also things to consider determining the PA.

      Delete
    3. This is wrong, your husband can claim points from your sister. Points can claimed from siblings from each spouse.
However, considering your husband's age, claiming points from your sister won't be sufficient, so PNP is the best option if he were to be the Primary Applicant.

If you're in your early 30s, have upto to 3 yrs work experience and willing to write an additional certification eg CIMA, ACCA, BCS or esp learn and write the French exam (TEF, this will give you the highest chance as Canada is bilingual) as your bsc will not give you sufficient points.

Google CRS calculator, fill it out using your hubby and yourself as the PA and weigh your options. All the best

    4. @reasonable doubt that is not true. Her husband can claim point.

Depends on your husbands age. The younger the better.

  22. I have my WES evaluated already but it took me over 1yr that even the IELTs test I wrote expired. I'm afraid my age is only why I had to sit back now am 43 already and I heard they consider age in Canada when it comes to education and the last time I checked point for the skilled immigration it's nothing to talk about. What advise do you have for me? Thank you

    1. Do you have a partner? If your partner is younger and has the qualifications (ielts, degrees), it may work for you.
Another option is to go the study route. Study in canada, get your 2 years post study and apply for PR
You can also explore other countries
