  15. I saw the eyes of the murderer and thought "say no to drugs". This man was never safe for her or anyone, just expedient. Perhaps after the horrors of the desert, she craved a sure thing but a sure thing is not always safe.

I've seen too many of these "marriages" where one partner is too broken to mend and simply because of the benefits of his/her status, the other person thinks they can be a miracle manager. His age wasn't the problem but his mind. He had no business marrying anyone as he was already committed to the bottle or whatever influence is peering from behind his eyes. Imagine such a man during the lockdown when sale of alcohol was controlled and she couldn't escape to work.

  26. can we as Africans be truthful to ourselves for once. Some go there to marry white with ulterior motives and plan of dumping them when you get what they wanted through them; some for papers, another for the sake of having biracial kids. Who won't be annoyed when such happens after they've invested their time and emotions? you don't dupe people and expect them not to react. Ordinary boyfriend/girlfriend relationship some attempted suicide. These people have emotions as well, can we just be straight, this is not to justify his action though
    Rest in peace beautiful lady.

One thing I have to point out is that I did not see "peace" in this lady's story and I am not surprisingly reading a lot of Rest in Peace.
A lot of Nigerians do this marriage for papers while they prepare the ground for their spouses, boyfriends (or girlfriends) in Nigeria to join them. They call it "survival," and see nothing wrong in it. We should all learn not to do to others what we wouldn't like to be done to us. Marriage is a sacred institution of God and not something to be toyed with.

    1. Honestly now that am reading so many comments,am beginning to see the marriage for papers thing differently,I honestly tot they usually have an agreement or contract to this, like d Immigrant pays the person he/she is getting married to and agree on d nos of yrs to spend with them.
I never knew it was wayo wayo o. Like never. Hmmm

      Delete
    2. Qs, there is agreement one where the man or woman is aware that it is an arrangement thingy and gets paid, others prefer to decieve the person, some even give birth in that sham marriage before filing for divorce.

      Delete
    3. @ Q.s, there are different arrangements. Some of these marriages are strictly transactional and both parties are aware it is arangee, no deceit involved, you just pay the person and they act like your spouse, provide the necessary documentation for you to file etc while the other arrangement is pure deceit. The other party is totally unaware and thinks it is for love but the motive Is papers. Once they get the papers after 3 to 5 years, the next thing is they file for divorce and move on.

      Delete
    4. Whether transactional or not, both options are an abuse of the system. Haba, Nigerians! Why must always be found in kurukere things?!

      Delete
    5. Why are most Nigerians this wicked? Will you like your brother who is a citizen to be married to a lady who will have kids with him, get the papers and divorce him? Why are all these ladies here supporting evil. It goes to show that you all will behave like this lady.
      What a shame!

      Delete
    6. And who says it is not an abuse of the system? Did I justify it? Abeg vamoose, the response was to Q.s not you.

      Delete
    7. @15:26, thank you dear. Both are wrong. The transactional one tricks the system while the non-transactional one tricks both the system and the spouse who is being deceived. Both are illegal and hence sinful, let us tell ourselves the truth. For both, if caught, you will still go to jail. Just that deceit is ingrained in Nigerian culture.. from expo (exam malpractice) being the norm, jamb special center to sorting courses in Uni. So most people are used to being deceitful, but it's still wrong. And the worst is we are hypocrites. We quickly point people's sins without acknowledging our own. I once met a guy here in the abroad who overstayed his visa and was trying to do arangee or whatever for papers. I don't care what you do with your life but don't come preaching to me like I'm not a Christian too. Cos visa overstay too is a sin. But they'll never acknowledge that cos everyone is doing it. That everyone does it doesn't make it right๐Ÿ™„

    9. Abroadian,
In your own words, you said "no deceit involved.... while the other arrangement is pure deceit"

BOTH are deceitful. Don't even try to twist your words. No wonder you are getting all defensive.

      Delete
    10. Understand where abroadian is coming from. One is deceitful in which case one party isn’t aware that he/ she is being used. While the other non deceitful one, both is aware that it’s for citizenship and the other person gets paid

      Delete
    11. Twist my words for who? You? Lol. You play too much. I said what I said in clear terms and stand by it, how you understand it is absolutely your problem not mine.
Anon, leave the trouble maker alone oh.

    12. BOTH are deceitful. Eod.
There is no interpretation required for that. ๐Ÿ˜

  34. I wholeheartedly condemn what this man has done. He shouldn't have killed her!

Whilst condemning his actions, I need to also condemn this trend of using people to attain residency/citizenship. It's wickedness!

Unless you and the person have clear T and C's, and money has been exchanged...then please, stop deceiving people into thinking you're in love, and with them for the right reasons!

The foreign spouse goes into it thinking they've reached their "last bus stop", meanwhile the conman/woman is just counting down the days until they can dump the person, so as to bring in their Nigerian spouse+kids!

It's evident from her path of immigration and the timeline, that she only married this man to legitimise her stay in Italy. It's not easy to find out you've been used - emotions, finances and time have been invested!

Anyways, may she find rest and peace.

  38. It is funny how so many ppl saying she used the man for papers. It is highly likely that he is the one who used her because of her vulnerability. Do any of you know how the poor and vulnerable are preyed upon. Even those in refugee camps, the rapes and abuse. How does a refugee even find someone to manipulate into marriage, especially in a country where she barely spoke the language at the time. Without a doubt it is he who forced marriage on her seeing her vulnerability and saw an opportunity to use a poor woman who has no protection living in a strange land. Then when he locked her down the beatings started and then she filed for divorce to escape the domestic violence. Let us not act like domestic violence is not a prevalent issue in Italy.

I have been to that Italy and once was enough for me. That place ain't no bed of roses and I can tell for Black people who live there another hell. RIP my dear, you tried for a better life, you tried and it just did not work out in your favour.

I am begging anyone who thinks going to some of these places will be a bed of roses to reconsider. Please look at all angles before embarking on these treacherous journeys. At least get your education, get a trade before leaving home. Set yourself in a way that you do not have to be at anyone's mercy.
