  3. Stella is not easy, honestly. Even we the average people is pushing now. Pay school fees, pay house rent, fuel car, gas, feeding.
Is pathetic, we have not talk about clothing and other little things. And my pain is how they reduce quantity and increase prices. Fufu ₦100 can't be enough for a child. Indomie super pack is now small pack.
Please I need a business as side hustle but I don't know how to go about it. Any business advice will help biko.
I need to build my family, not just my man.

  4. To be honest, at this point I am ready to leave this country and that’s saying a lot coming from me. I have always been team I cannot leave my country. It’s the inhumanity of Nigerians to Nigerians. Granted, cost of things have gone up but at this point people are deliberately hiking prices for undue profit. It’s wickedness

    ReplyDelete

    1. Nobody is hiking anything for selfish purposes. The woman selling pepper must increase price cos her rent and transport has increased, the landlord and bus driver must increase price cos their food and consumables is now costlier

  13. Nyanya Market, Abuja is a bit fair for food stuff, especially on the market day, which is Wednesday. Garri, Cassava Elubo and all other NORMAL things that people truly need are still ok. They even tie milo and milk in nylon (like oshodi market those days) for those who cannot buy the big ones. Sweet potatoes still dey try small small too for we area. All these only happen on Wednesdays in Nyanya Market, Abuja.

    3. Which nyanya market?. Biko no allow me vex this afternoon. I went to the market last Wednesday and could not buy anything. I left with tears. A mudu of brown beans is N1300. Did you price that Milo and milk they tie. It is from N200 upwards. Something they sell N50 before. It is not even good for health. It's for industrial purposes but those women are busy selling it. I went to where they sell yam and was told 5 tubers of small yam is N3k. Meat is N2200 per kilo. Even orange market in mararaba things are dam expensive. Small basket of Irish potato is N1500. I avoid going to market theses days because na tears dey follow me go home because of how expensive things are. No item is cheap. but what can l do. I must eat.

  14. The rate at which prices of food items are increasing is alarming. To eat three meals a day in most average family home is now a thing of the past.
I litre sachet king vegetables oil is now #1200 unlike the #600 I used to buy it. Beans is more expensive than rice now, noodles nko, the pasta we buy for #250 is now #350, sardine is BTW 500 and #600.

    1. I was just on a US blog site and one of the blog post was about food price increases. Ppl on the post were lamenting just like everyone here on the skyrocketing food prices. Some even concluded that going vegan was the only thing left for them to do. There was a package of beef displayed for $56, someone said they had bought 4 lamb chops for $40. My connections in the Caribbean are all talking about higher food prices too. Eating meat and fish is obviously now a luxury.

Seems like it is a global thing. Folks need to pool resources, come together and survive together. This is not the time to do independent and going it on your own. Maybe you have to pool gas money to drive a little further to buy things in bulk on a farm, or buy directly from the chicken farmer. Maybe you have to come together to do a communal vegetable garden together. Maybe we have to go back to brining things, freezing, smoking and other preservation methods.

It is essential to understand how to survive and survive strong.

      Delete
    2. 16.48 you are right about it seeming to be global, it's the same situation in the UK too, rising prices and low consumer confidence, though I think it's more related to brexit effect than anything else.

  28. It is so sad and pathetic, the worst is that if you close eyes to buy some of the items, they are mainly substandard and inferior. I bought small morning fresh for washing of cooking utensils not only that the price has skyrocketed from N250 to N450 the thing no gree foam, I have to buy a bar soap of N100 to substitute it. Nigeria is gone

  31. Why has the government not put in any place price control measures?

Basic food items should always be on price control so ppl can survive. A loaf of bread, milk, sugar and all essential food items should never be at a price that those earning minimum wage cannot afford.

I use firewood to cook beans and rice in large quantity but even firewood sef has joined.

  35. This inflation is caused mostly by covid bcus shipping fees have tripled and with high dollar rate now, u can imagine what is going on. All these food stuffs like sardine, wheat to make flour and co are all imported. Shipping a 40ft container that used to be 3k dollars before covid is now 9-12k depending on the shipping line causing price of food stuffs and other products to rise. This is the worst we have ever had it in Nigeria.
