HOT GIST ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Stella and bvs!
I witnessed domestic violence first hand last weekend.

There is this fairly new tenant that lives downstairs directly beneath our flat. She moved in early this year, She is a very fat mature single woman in her late 40s or thereabout, we don't know her history but she has grown up kids that come to check on her once in a while. She has a textile shop in one of the markets here.

So this woman has a man she is dating, he is in the same age range with her, a policeman. He comes every evening to be with her till late at night. We didn't know any other thing about this man until the day they fought.

That night, there was no light so almost everyone put on their generators, everywhere was noisy. Around 10pm, I was gisting with hubby when I heard this loud thud like something heavy fell on the floor downstairs. Before we could phantom what it was, we heard this woman screaming for help, saying the man wants to kill her, neighbours should save her life, we listened to know if any tenant downstairs will knock on their door, no one.

Then we heard sounds of falling furniture and another bang on the wall, I was so scared for her life, I had tears in my eyes. I was telling hubby that is it human being that they are hitting like this? this woman will die pls let's go and save her. I panicked so much that hubby asked me to calm down, that you don't rush into a fighting scene without thinking. We locked our door, called on the next tenant upstairs, they didn't hear anything cos of the generators.

We now went downstairs and they knocked on their door, the woman increased her screams, the man opened and she rushed outside.

Stella and bvs, her mouth and head was covered in blood, her hand was bleeding. I cried when I saw her.

I had never witnessed a man beat his woman like that in real life. I only see such when they beat thieves and I read stories and see pictures online too.

The man was bragging that he will kill her and nothing will happen. Hubby and the other neighbors told him they will report him to a force higher than the Police and he will go and repeat what he was saying. No one knows his name or where he lives, if he kills the woman and runs away, is that not trouble for all tenants?

They started making calls. The man now knelt down and started begging, promising that he will never touch her again. The woman too was even begging on his behalf. Wonders!

They now issued him a stern warning.

What caused the fight was that the man was cheating on the woman. He told us that he has two wives, he now rented this flat for her so that he would be free to come anytime. That what else does she want? I was just shaking my head.

Anyway, she was cleaned up by us the ladies. We asked her to come spend the night with one of us but she refused, went inside with the man and they locked the door. The man stayed with her till the next evening before he went home. He still visits her everyday.

As I type, I still shiver when I remember the incident and the blood on her body.

Bvs whose husbands or boyfriends beat them, is this how they beat you with blood on your body? Then he begs you and you continue with him? Father Lord!

They always go back no matter how much you help them and that is why i stopped carrying their matter on my head... I will never forget the case of BV Flora..... I wonder where she is now and pray to God is OK.

INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD

I am braiding my son’s hair and I have had all manner of things said to me by family, friends, strangers and church members. So many people have called to counsel me on the dangers of braiding his hair.

My son looks beautiful I must admit and I am told he is supposed to look handsome( It simply means even though he is dressed in boyish clothes, most people just assume he is a beautiful girl).

People have approached me, telling me how inappropriate it is to give my children such “worldly” hairstyles as a Christian. I normally don’t explain myself but to those who know me, I tell this story, “as a child I loved those Bible stories with pictures and my favourite pictures were that of David and Absalom. I loved the long hair, earrings, bangles and anklet the men wore in the picture” and also have you seen how beautifully the Bible describes Absalom and his hair, it is said that no one in the land even among the women had such beautiful hair.

You might say why Absalom, he was not a good example of a good son but so is Samson yet a lot of Christians name their kids after him. Anyway to further reinforce my perception a church aunt I admired greatly married and had a son, very hairy and handsome boy later she had a daughter who came out bald, as in very bald, still bald till date. Thirteen years old me told God that if he gives me children and they are born with a full head of hair, regardless of their gender they would make and adorn their hair. Years later my boys are braiding theirs .

After much pressure from the grandparents my husband caved in and asked me to make the boys look more like boys, so I shaved the back and left front, which are braided into nice styles, yet people no dey let me rest. Now the hair is said to look more worldly than before.

I will be cutting off the hair soon, as soon as his textured hair goes back to it’s natural state, not because I am bowing to pressure but because my little pom pom now cries and throws tantrums when its time to make his hair.

Don’t smirk yet, he threw worse tantrums at the barber’s and it took two adults to hold him down, when I wanted to shave part of his hair.

If he ever wants to grow out his beautiful hair when he is older, he has my blessings.

LMAO... mama Absalom how market!

IJEOMAS GIST CORNER

One fine babe in the area got connected with another fine dude in another state (thanks to social media). Like play, like play they got in the 'ship'. Dude was portraying himself as a rich guy, and  to the babe 'Baba God' has answered her prayers '.

Guy invited baby geh over, and truly she met a cool guy in a good house. After spending the weekend with him, time reach for her to come back, guy lock up, e no gree shake body. According to her, he told her he was going to the nearest bank to get some money for her transport fare..

Baby geh waited for hours, guy no show. Hours turned to a whole day going to the next, that's when it dawned on her that she's been scammed cos he wasn't taking his calls and later put off his phone.

If you tell dem to hold vex money, some no go hear. The only money she had was her transport fare to his house hoping he'll give her money to pay back and even extra as a rich guy that he portrayed himself to be.

She searched the house, saw army uniforms in the wardrobe and took them (soidier cloth na better valuable na). Babe did "runz' to gather transport fare back to the area with her soldier cloth trophy wey she carry come back ..

After some days she started getting calls from the dudes brother asking her to return his clothes that she took. She actually sent the guy an sms, cussing him and his generation for lying to her and also told him she took the clothes as compensation.

Dude's brother pleaded with her to return his clothes and gave her the whole gist. He went to outside work and left the house for his younger brother, younger brother portrayed himself as house owner and lured fine babe to his bed for days. He ran away because he didn't have money to give her.

She felt the ball's now in her court, it was an opportunity to make them pay for the days she spent in their house. She named her price, forwarded acct details. He paid and even payed for waybill. Naso 'ship' take stop for middle of sea, e no sail again.

But of all things in the house, na soldier uniforms she see collect?

Sebi the soldier uniform that she collected made sense last last... If the brother had not gotten his uniform back, maybe they would thought he sold it to criminals and he would get into trouble......

  3. Old age and youth age

The issue is that old age (with helpful, and not destructive experiences) is profitable. God surrounds Himself with elders, not youths. So old age is important. However, what the olden generation is sitting on are the privileges of the youths. Many aged have the gift of counsel, but not the gift of vision. Vision belongs to the youth (Joel 2:28). It is this vision you need to ply the destiny of the nation. There are a lot of sensitive positions the MUST youths occupy--research, science, technology, enterpreneural, etc. These are very important positions that require the insights of the young, but what do we have? Clueless people fill such places. What we lack isn't old men in power, but the young and visionary...who haven't been assigned yet! And of course you know:
Proverbs 29:18 - Where there is no vision, the people perish...
The old should sit in positions of counsel, of advisement; and the youth should sit in position of power for vision!
Proverbs 20:29 - The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head.

    1. When you watch the movie "DESIGNATED SURVIVOR" You will come to understand that some things in government do not just happen by accident. There are orchestrations and high-powered machinations and power play at work. These politicians are ruthless, they do not give a fuck if anyone dies. The heart of man is desperately wicked. There are questions without answers if you look closely. Nigeria is a joke!

    10. Anon 14:54, have you asked why another Engineering firm took up the job after the other one left? Who signed their papers? Which government agency or regulatory body signed the dotted lines for work to continue as "business as usual"? You think things just happen? In government/business especially in Nigeria, i keep harping on Nigeria, there is always collateral damage. And THEY always know before it happens. To the discerning, nothing is black and white. In this case, culpability is that of the government. C'est fini.

    11. If govt wanted to take him out, there are a thousand and one ways they could have done it, including assassination. Why would anyone go to the trouble of bringing down a whole building? Btw, this collapse doesn't reflect well on the govt either.

    13. Anon 16:00 have you ever wondered why a state government would orchestrate chaos in their state just so the federal government would notice and give out financial security votes to that state? Or you want to pretend this does not happen? In Nigeria,if you are privy to some of the happenings, you would understand the dynamics and how these monsters operate. Many lives are lost in the course of these chaotic situations. My point is, the guys in government do not care about loss of lives. It is us, the citizens who will cry and moan over deaths, these guys do not give a hoot! Anon 16:05, that mantra you just used "....that is not new in Nigeria" is the major reason why ineptitude in positions of authority and disregard for human lives is a normal thing in Nigeria. I still insist that this wicked act is a failure of governance and leadership in Nigeria.

What causes those quarrels that leads to those fights in those homes of "married people, married virgins?" Have you also considered statistically that most quarrels in marriages emanates from issues of infidelity (sexual immorality) or finances? Of course, the Scripture says that both sexual immorality and greed is idolatry. Col. 3:5...and that is what it means for "devils to be on the throne." One of the spouses, the culprit, has invited them to occupy the throne in his/her heart by these actions. So beating the spouse or further cheating is the rule until such a person repents and submits to Christ.

She still followed the guy to his house that night. As far as I know, relationship continued cos I still saw them a few weeks later in the hostel together.

  16. Good day BVs. Please I need your advise.
Yesterday was Open Day in my daughter's school and I attended on our behalf. I was ushered in and showed my daughter's progress report. She is doing very well but I was not surprised because my husband and I actually put in the extra work as we're both educationally conscious and hold our end of the partnership between parents and teachers.

The issue is that I noticed her classmates are not so active, and were just sitting and looking. My daughter did the introductions and basically is the "life of the class". Further probe showed me that the teacher usually has to prepare a separate lesson plan for my daughter because she already knows most of the curriculum(home schooling).

At this point, I should state that she is 2years and 8 months old while most of them are 2 years and probably a month or two which means she actually has a head start. She recently asked me to feed her with a bib. I took this as an adverse effect of being in a class with kids who cannot feed themselves or express themselves.

How do I have this conversation with the school head/classroom teacher without sounding overzealous or something like that? I feel that she is presently not being challenged by anyone in her class and it is not encouraging.

I should state here that her school fee is not cheap but it's a sacrifice we chose to make because of the value we place on her education. Should we pay high for something we are not getting? Should we ask that she be moved to the next class(nursery 1)?

PLEASE HELP. I will be meeting with the school head tomorrow.

A lion in the midst of sheep will eventually start thinking like sheep.

If you feel she is ready intellectually and EMOTIONALLY for the next class, by all means ask that she be moved up.

Let her go where she will be challenged and inspired.

You will need to firmly and politely prove to the School Head that she is already well versed with the curriculum for that class and show the advantages of your daughter moving to the next class; at the very least a separate lesson plan won't be made for her.
Don't forget to speak well of her present teacher.

Have you seen the curriculum for the next class? Is it something she can cope with?

Continue to support your daughter in everyway possible and be intentional about looking out for opportunities to build and explore her strengths and talents!

    1. Lol. I am a 43yo married man with a pony tail, a paediatrician in UK n no one cares. I saw a backward comment up there saying braiding a boy's hair will make them turn out like princess of Africow or what. That is one of the most archaic statement I've ever heard. Who did this to Nigerians? Can they stop reasoning like people who didn't go to school?

  27. Most women going thru DV have complex issues, otherwise how do you explain that?

The woman going thru motherhood, morality is relative. If you are tired of doing the hair of your boys; you can cut. Don't allow people push you to conform with their look of a boy child. Because looks are ephemeral.

The lady is lucky she found something to hold on to anyway, but women should try an do better abeg.

  28. Chai that domestic violence case really got me,some of these people over time become masochistsπŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯they begin to think pain is normal and actually believe true love involves you hurting them....they derive their self esteem from pain.

This mainly happens to people who were seriously molested or maltreated while younger.

Fertility treatment can drain one financially, emotionally and psychologically eh, and relatives will be asking you for money with the mindset that since you don't have children yet, then you should be able to give them each time to request money from you. The whole thing is just tiring, God please answer us speedily with children. End of rant. Una good afternoon BVs and Stella.

  35. My neighbour just packed his things and left the house. He left his wife. Just one year they moved into the compound. I think they just got married. The lady came into the compound with about 2 months old pregnancy. The pregnancy got really big and then all of a sudden, it was no longer there and there was no physical baby. Over the weekend, i saw a very beautiful wardrobe outside our compound and was wondering who owned it. Our security man later gisted me that it belonged to the couple and that time i saw it, they were looking for buyer. They were selling their things. Inshort, it was the woman selling their things becos the guy already left. He didnt even tell her where he was going. I also got to know that the woman gave birth but the baby died almost immediately. Very sad. I am sure the young couple couldnt cope with that. If you see when those two came into the compound, the way they were professing love to each other, always chanting "tweetat" "tweetat" (SWEETHEART, the guy is yoruba), i bet you, if you dont have a partner ehn, you can go and jump into the river because of oppression. Always showing PDA here and there, but see now, small temptation for marriage, they fell apart. The woman is relocating to Lasgidi. It is well.

  41. Africans need to start doing better regarding sex education.
Being & feeling sexual are natural causes, but could lead one astray without proper guidance/information especially as a teenager who is experiencing puberty.
She’s 16 and not 6, you should have had this conversation with her latest, on or before she turned 12.
The world is evolving! Of course she would masturbate, are you going to say you never touch(ed) yourself?? Don’t you feel horny after seeing your period?? Now she has gotten misleading information from her peers instead of her mum.
I’m not trying to shame you, but pretending that sex isn’t part of life is ridiculous.
Sit her down, find out what she knows and then educate her. Be blunt and factual, teach her about safe sex but also explain why it’s best she waits. Most importantly, teach her about consent, STDs/STIs and how they are transmitted. Teach her intimate hygiene too(how to clean, trim, use panty liners for post period discharge & to hide camel toe when wearing leggings).
You can get more tips on sex education online!

    1. Thanks for speaking my whole mind πŸ‘ŒπŸΏπŸ‘ŒπŸΏ
Sexual urges is nature’s way of ensuring procreation once puberty starts. It is the creators way of ensuring continuity of all species and keeping the circle of life alive.

We zealots (especially Christians) have formed a nasty habit of shaming people who have God given impulses and demonising body urges

Little wonder why the average Nigerian woman is sexually frigid and low key is scared of sex as we only sees it as a means to an end. Sex in our minds (especially in marriage) never equates to pleasure, stress relief and deep bonding. It is impossible for the human mind to demonise sexual urges and turn around after 20-30 years to start loving sex so we set up our kids for sexual failure and discontent their whole lives.

This is also why Nigerian women are so angry and struggle with climaxes because of this stupid mental blocks that have been set in our heads.

Poster, your daughter is on the right path, she understands that she has sexual needs and has found a sensible way to manage them. Can you please not judge her?

Pls do not demonise that girl and turn her into a frigid, sexually prude!!
