Nigerian Govt Alleges That IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu Denied Being An IPOB Member...

Shuaib Labaran, the lead counsel to the Nigerian government in the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, alleges that Kanu denied membership of the group.

According to Sahara Reporters, Magaji stated this while speaking with journalists at the court premises after the trial was adjourned to February 16.

The lawyer, who brought two prosecution witnesses to court on Wednesday, expressed disappointment that the trial could not begin immediately.

According to him, the defence team ambushed the court with an application for bail and another application seeking to quash the charges against Kanu.

Magaji added that Kanu “vehemently” denied being an IPOB member.

He said, “One of the charges suggested that the defendant, Nnamdi Kanu is a member of IPOB and he vehemently denied being a member of IPOB. That is very curious and we urge Nigerians to see us through how we are going to prove all those charges against the defendant in no time to come.”

Kanu had on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to the 15-count amended charge bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism, brought against him by the Nigerian government.

He said he was innocent of all the allegations the government leveled against him after the charge was read to him in the open court.

The Buhari-led government had filed fresh terrorism charges against the detained IPOB leader before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday.

Consequently, the action increased the initial counts against him from seven to 15.

During his trial on Tuesday which was held amid heavy security presence, Kanu objected to the fresh charges. The case was then adjourned till Wednesday for him to take his plea.
On Wednesday he entered his plea to the fresh amended charges against him which borders on his alleged commission of acts of terrorism, felony, incitement, unlawful importation of a radio transmitter, and headship of an illegal organisation.

  8. It is better to deny so that he can be free. My own they should proscribe ipob. I don't see the good these people are doing.

    1. They should proscribe or they already did and a court threw it out that IPOB isn't an unlawful society. I believe you aren't following events in the country.

Following events in which country to be precise? The same one you guys call a zoo?

I am following real issues in my country. Yours is a distraction, menace, and threat to society.

  11. Nnamdi Kanu didn't deny being an IPOB member rather Nnamdi Kanu was asked if he is a member of the "proscribed IPOB" member and he said "Nope!" that he is the leader of IPOB..

Nnamdi Kanu is technically telling you that he is a member and leader of IPOB and not of any PROSCRIBED group..

This is a man with brain and sophisticated knowledge. If he had accepted yes on the charge, it will be him assenting to the charge of IPOB being a terrorist group. So he technically answer them that he's not a member of the 'proscribed' IPOB but a member and leader of IPOB. I hope you understand the difference.

Pls, no matter what happens in life, never admit or accept a negative remark affixed on your name for any reason. Just like someone asking you if you criminal James? Of course you will say no but you are James.

    1. Teejay,

I see that you have "stolen" though you'll call it borrowing the explanation I used from the previous post on the "technicalities... "

You posted Mr Kanu's lawyer's response in the previous post, I tackled it, you kept mute but slithered here to adopt it.

      Phew!

    4. Do you see how black people reason. Now you're asking for a video before you will believe what I reported according to Kanu's lawyer's narration. Did you ask for a video before believing the statement from the prosecuting counsel? You believe your government but need a video inorder to believe someone's narration.

    5. Anon 13:03 , did you also see the video of Kanu denying being a member of IPOB? If you did , also send the video to Stella.

    1. Wrong assumption. If that was the case, he would have come out long before now. Last week or thereabouts, the presidency made a comment that they won't go into political solution anymore that Kanu is misbehaving. Have you ever ask yourself what is the 'misbehaving' all about? Kanu have vehemently rejected offers brought to him and it was termed misbehaving.🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣

    2. Teejay,

Please stop!!!! Enough of putting out false/incomplete/misconstrued information.

The FG did not accept to resolve this politically. Some SE leaders went to see the president, they asked him to consider a political resolution so that the destruction of people's livelihoods and killings can stop/reduce. The president openly responded, that he will "consider" their request.

In Jan 2022, as Aired on channels, the president said he will NOT interfere, and Mr Kanu and Mr Sunday Igboho should have their days in court.

For those that are interested, please use your search engine. Check newspapers or channels. It's all there except Teejay was part of the delegation that went to Abuja.

      Teejay, jeez! Na wah!

    3. Anon 14:48 if I drop the link where the presidency said they will no longer engage on political solution that Kanu is 'misbehaving' Stella won't enable it. It was after that statement the presidency now said the duo case won't be interfere.

  18. I've said it countless times that Mazi is not qualified to be Biafra leader, I'm not for Biafra and I'm not against Biafra, but I know that he could have fought the battle to secede in a legal way instead of the barbaric method he used.
Igbos ve so many educated and exposed people who could be at the forefront but it's a pity they chose a mere troublesome Dj, who was captured on his way to collect Biafran money for himself.
