    1. I think this is where I and Tonto share common feelings.

I seriously don't know how to attend burials or send condolences. But I grieve on the death of people and pray for them. Any time I see or visit a bereaved friend or family or call them on phones, I lack words to bare my emotions.

And funny enough I'm pretty okay if you don't call me to sympathize with me. It's okay if you decide to pray for me on your own but keep the condolences to yourself.

    2. Na wa. She stated her reason, but as her account officer, you know she doesn't have money to do an elaborate burial. The same you would have criticized her if she decided to do an elaborate burial.

    3. Ah, momey to do burial is small now. The big issue is "paying" back all those that supported you. I regretted making my dad burial big... the people that came and supported me eh...now I am having to travel far and wide to "pay" back in these times of insecurity and all. I feel like I owe them and i must pay. I think people should just be buried quietly with family only. I have learnt a lesson and with my mum it will be different...

So i kinda of see reasons with her.

  7. I can relate these few days, it's a hard pill to swallow, I don't even wanna hear the word sorry, it takes me back to rock bottom, left for me, no body would cook or party if the person ain't up to 75 atleast.

    1. This comment of yours just reminded me of when I lost my dad. I hated it when people told me sorry. I honestly wished they could just leave me alone! Once they call to say sorry , my tears will start all over again.

Even though he was past 75 , I still wished there was no party. Just do the burial , give people take away and let everyone go home. But of course the naija factor set in. We did a big party by force.

  16. We were only 14yrs old when the school took us on excursion to what... a burial. My first burial. Of a man we don't even know but he was a chief or big man in the city. We even went into the room where he was lying in state. First time seeing a corpse and you know how it looks in the coffin. The trauma eh...

    1. Without parental consent???
The things some schools do eh.
There are so many adults who can’t bear the sight of a dead person, talk less of kids.
      Sorry about that
