Sunday In House Gists - Giving Up Tithes And Offerings In Church

Are you a Church goer? Or you pray from home?

Do you believe in tithes and offerings? Do you give your tithes and offerings up in Church?

Now I want to ask a tricky question..... Do you give up your tithes and offering because you feel it is the right thing to do or because there is a passage in the Bible that mandates you to do so?

How Do you feel when you arrive Church in a commercial Bus with your tithes and offerings in your pocket and the Pastor and his team arrive Church in Bentleys and different exotic cars?

This is a no holds barred conversation!

  2. It is good to pay tithe according to the Bible and offering as your spirit leads.

Seed Sowing with some funny titles is what I don't support.

Tithe paying does not have to be into the church alone, you can pay your tithe to an orphanage,a less privileged person around you etc, give to the beggars, etc.

  3. As a Catholic I have conditioned my mind to pay my tithe to the church and by the grace of God nothing will change my mind about it. When l stand to pay my tithe. I don't see the Rev father or pastor collecting the tithe from me rather l imagine myself paying it to God. I pay because a particular scripture in the Bible commanded me to do so and l like obeying God. Paying tithe does not stop me from giving to the needy
I give offering. Infact l cannot go to the house of God without dropping an offering including weekend programs no matter how small. I have also made up my mind that my money MUST enter every project going on in the parish l attend no matter how small especially on building, evangelism and saint Vicente de Paul.
If the man of God likes, let him drive to church with helicopter or jet. E no concern me. I will do my part and wait patiently for the God who gives seeds to the sower to bless my seed sown.

    1. Matthew 23:23 Jesus taught that we should not neglect tithe.
The early church used it to feed widows daily; Acts 6:1-6, 1 Timothy 5:3-9

I give mine to widows/their orphans

The early church did not pay tithes. Theirs was a communal living in which each person brings what s/he has and then it was shared according to people's needs. So Ananias and Sapphira sold their plot of land but didn't remit all.

  7. Det 14:22 to end. The “Levites” in my assembly have inheritance; even the church and its associated business is “family business”. So I concern myself with my belly, the poor, widows, strangers and anyone with need in my circle of influence or that God sends into my home or my way. Food and financial help is never lacking.

  8. I was a big tither in my local parish I always handed it to same priest . When I needed supporting letter for my sons admission he denied knowing me. I wept like a newborn because it’s the only good school in my area. I said to God to himself as a diligent tither I was in the school matter Lo and behold he was offered admission without the church’s letter. I stopped going to the church tho I attend church online now. Hoping to resume tithing soon to the less privileged

  9. When you give don't let your left hand knows about it. God looks at the heart that gives not what you are giving, why he chose the widow's mite among others I. believe that whatever I have is given to me by God. When I go to church I put my offering with the intention that I'm giving to say thank you God .
I believe that church is a holy place ,I don't give offering because of a priest
Once I give and pray,I go home..
God is bigger than whatever I'm giving.

Deuteronomy 26:12 When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.
Deuteronomy 26:13 Then say to the LORD your God: "I have removed from my house the sacred portion and have given it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, according to all you commanded. I have not turned aside from your commands nor have I forgotten any of them.

  13. Go and watch Myles Munroe on the Power of Tithing.

When you understand what he is talking about, all this talk will stop.

  14. I am not church goer. And I don't pay tithe. But I give alms and help the poor and needy, and it works for me.I don't have any issue with those who pay tithe and offerings, to every man his own belief.

  15. I will never fall for it no matter how you persuade me to give tithe or sow seed. If you like tell me that the Lord said your husband will locate you next week and he will be the richest man on earth but you must pay your tithe/ seed before it will come to pass, you are on your own o. I have come to know the truth, nothing will make me fall for that again.

Someone once said the reason am not married might be because I don't pay my tithe, I looked at him and laughed. I would have felt bad about that statement if I didn't have good knowledge of what the scripture says about these things.

If you have found the truth please don't let anybody put fear in you. After all good things and bad things can happen to anybody. No matter how good you are you will still face life's challenges. Paying of tithe does not guarantee that you will not face challenges in life

  16. It is wickedness for you to have people around you who needs financial support and you pretend as if you are not aware of their predicament but the moment they mention tithing and seed sowing you don't hesitate to pay.
God does not need your money for anything. Give them to the poor and they will apprentice it. Give to the sick who have no money for treatment and they will be very happy. Save a life with your money. Those places you call church are not church, they are denominations or religious institutions formed my man. No wander the GOs of those religious organizations wanted to run mad when the government wanted to introduce KAMA last 2yrs to watch over the cash inflow of their denominations. Such development wouldn't have bothered them if they had nothing to hide. A church has no human founder. A church is founded my Jesus and he is the General overseer. If you like pay, pay and pay what you pay. Jesus and his disciples never paid tithe. If tithing was that important Jesus and his disciples would have emphasized on it the way they emphasized on sin. The only way to please God is by true worship. The bible says, a time shall come when the true worshippers will no longer worship the father on this mountain nor in Jerusalem, a time shall come and that time is now! when the true worshippers will worship the father in spirit and in truth... check John chapter 4. That is to say; it is no longer compulsory that believers must be members of either redeemed church or Catholic church or Apostolic church before God will certify them as true worshipper. It is true that God says we should not forsake the gathering of the brethren. We can gather anywhere and discuss the word of God no matter the number. You and your family can gather anytime of the day to discuss the scriptures and God will be present in your midst. You could gather with other believers around with nobody as the general overseer. Make every body equal, don't oversee anything. If you have anything to teach please do and let your teaching not be final. Nobody has monopoly of the scriptures. When you are done for the day everybody leaves for other business, no need for tithing. Lol,but wait o, supposing tithing is compulsory and me and my neighbors decide to be conducting service in our compound now, who will be collecting the tithe?

My dear when you give to the poor you have given to God. What so ever you do to the least of my brethren, that you do unto me says the Lord. Na bible talk am. Funnily, the most important thing for these church organizations is to preach seed sowing and tithing, forgetting the weightier matters of the the kingdom of God which is true repentance. They can never tell you to make peace with God before paying your tithe. To them, If you like let your life be full of sin, the moment you pay your tithe your sins have no meaning anymore. No wander there is much atrocities even in the church organizations today because people no longer feel the need to repent. Just sew your seed and the Lord will bless you even after the atrocities you committed. Make dem rest abeg. Our mumu son do

    1. You are very secure in your faith. When my dads business was booming he never missed a day but when his business went down the started going to the Redeemed near our house and no longer the Headquarters branch he’s been at for over 20yrs. I was so shocked so I asked him and he said he didn’t have money for the offerings and he didn’t feel comfortable going if he didn’t have money to give. Pastors should be calming with the shaming language they use around tithing

    2. Eniola, if your dad maintained fellowshipping with his first church after what happened to him you will see that the church will no longer recognize him like they used to

  19. I don't believe in paying tithe but it's a command in the old testament but now it's no longer active. My family doesn't pay & we do a lot of charity work & God has been God in our lives.
Most people pay tithe out of fear & blackmail that they will not progress with paying it. When people have problems the put fear into them that it was because of non payment of tithe that they have such problems. "You will hear something like I pay my tithe why should this happen to me". At his command both good & bad take place. You cannot bribe God. Some pay tithe because the mark tithe cards in their church & if you're are not paying & you want to do child dedication or thanksgiving you will not be allowed. In my colleagues church the ask those that are not paying to stand up. If one is doing it for God as most churches wants one to believe they wouldn't have been blackmailing people or instilling fear into people rather let the people decide since it's supposed to be for their own good.

  21. Tithe is poor people tax. It is of no benefit to the giver except the recipient.Any moron that wants to give his or her peanuts to a pastor in this present day Nigeria should please go ahead. Destiny is destiny. Whether good things or bad things will happen to you have nothing to do with tithe. People don't know the difference between charity and tithe. Other religions concentrate on charity(helping the under privileged) while Nigerian version of Christianity is centered on tithes(giving money to pastors to live flamboyant lifestyles)

    ReplyDelete
  22. How can someone be so brainwashed to believe that paying tithes is what's opening doors for him/her. Those of us that haven't paid for more than 20 years, what opened our door? Success comes from skills, experience and perseverance. No amount of tithe will open doors for you if don't possess the skills in demand.

  23. The only people pushing for tithes are the primary beneficiaries. Go figure! Even after the collapse of MMM, some people are still falling for pyramid schemes. That tells you the mindset of an average Nigerian. No matter how much you educate them, there are unlimited supply of mugus who believe that their lives depend on tithes. Hahaha.

  26. I used to be a faithful tither but so many attitudes I noticed from church leaders and ministers discouraged me, I have stopped going to church, I'm still a faithful Christian and I worship online almost everyday. I now tithe to the underprivileged and stranded friends and family members around me, been doing so for 3 years now and God has been faithful to me. I noticed that giving always bring results, whether you are a Christian or not, whether you call it tithe or charity so I'll always be a giver.

  27. I have never paid tithes in my almost 40yrs! It’s too much of my income to give anybody when bills full ground. The money is better going into things that will provide for my retirement. This is the time to work for myself. Not for any pastor. Church collections is enough abeg. Then I help people who need support.
