DeletePls my people kindly educate me on this one. The people that owned twitter before selling to Elon were they not making money from it? Because twitter has been free since inceptioj so how were they making money then and now the new owner wants to start charging.

Ads on Twitter or any social media platform costs money.
Business resumes, money must be made.
