  5. The same Lagosians will still complain about the ban in 2 weeks' time. Those who prefer bikes because of the traffic and those whose source of livelihood is tied to it will complain and the government will allow them operate so they can vote for them. Everything na politics and initial gragra as usual. On the other hand, if the ban stays, is the government prepared for the rise in crime that is sure to follow? Let them look at the problem and solution in 3D o. Hmmm...

    1. I agree with you Amebo. First it was check points on highway, people kept complaining that they want the check points off the roads, i know it’s mostly people that are always in a hurry to reach their destinations. Nigerians are always in a hurry to go to nowhere. When the pressure became too much, the govt. took them off. What people don’t understand is that, the check points might not really be checking anything in ppl’s opinion, but it served as a deterrence for some crimes. Secondly, the response time for rescue missions became longer, when something happens on the highway, before the military or whoever is called to start coming from air force base or army barracks, the team would have reached the place had they been in check points, because they would look for the deployment closest to the affected location. Now the same Nigerians have started asking for check points back.

    2. The safest interstate road now is PHC to Uyo. I literally doze off knowing no armed robber will be on the road. Every 100m is a checkpoint from saakpenwa
area till you enter the first village in Uyo. So I actually like checkpoints on the roads. The main city of PHC has no bikes, and Keke has been banned from plying some routes. So ban or no ban, crime will always be in cities. Let them ban the bikes, let those bikers go and look for other means. If they are caught in the line of crime, they should be shot or taken to jail.

    3. So the question is - is it better for crimes to be perpetuated by criminals or for crimes to be perpetuated by officers - who you should feel safe with. We forget so soon the atrocities those police men carried out at checkpoints. We forget so soon.

    4. Thank you anon 12:38. I was wondering as I ws reading anon 11:09's comment. Were you not aware of the endless atrocities committed by the security forces at these checkpoints that led to their removal from some roads???? People in a hurry to reach their destinations indeed!!!
      Truly we forget so fast!!!

  6. Right!!, in just about 3-4 months the task force will start collecting money from okada riders to continue plying their routes and in six months the "tactical operation" will be forgotten. naija my country, I hail thee!

  7. Very great news. Soon they will find a way and come back. Create a law that binds this decision.

  10. Hope the where informed before this raid let it not be they were taken unaware. There should also be other ways to coordinate this people without just confiscating their bikes.

  11. The most painful part is nothing would be done to them...when the cell becomes too crowded they will let them go.

  12. Ms Abroadian, you are right.

Lagos State government has been so inconsistent in banning Okada riders. This is the third attempt.

Other states banned them from the get go and have sanity on the roads.

Okada is not a means of mass transit or transportation.
