  1. 2nd week of new job and one of the managers (Asian) is already behaving funny, condescending and short with her replies even though she is supposed to be the one training new staff, to the extent that one of the older employees noticed and came to talk me me afterwards that I should not mind her and shouldn't feel bad, but I should feel free to report her to the other manger (white) who is her boss if she hurt me with her words.

Let me just sit back and observe, if she continues with her rude character, I'll document and escalate the matter. Thank God these oyibo people get small sense. By the time I start talking about mental health and discomfort in the workplace, I'm sure she'll be warned.

    Anyway God help me sha.

    1. Keep observing her in the meantime and then you can go on ahead to report if her bad behaviour becomes too much.

      Delete
    2. I wish you good luck as you do what is good for your mental health

      Delete
    3. Be careful with the advises the old employees give you about another. They might have their issues, let them not use you to get to each other. Observe for now and don't be hasty.

    4. Asian? indian, chinese, japanese or philipi?

    5. Dear poster, I'd advise that you confront her politely. Tell her with the lowest of tone that you do not appreciate the way she treats you as it is affecting your mental health. Reporting to her superior shouldn't be the first thing to do. Most Nigerians have strong personalities and other minorities are intimidated and start acting out in defence. So be kind and gentle but definitely confront her. Thank me later

      Delete
    6. That’s obviously the easiest way to get fired. She’s only two weeks and she wants to start taking about mental health??? Sometimes in life you ignore in the beginning, prove your worth to them then the respect will surely come.

      Delete
    7. This is not about Nigerians having strong personality. It's a gimmick to possibly kick her out. It's possible the person she recommended/referred for the job wasn't hired for the role. It's a strategy and why you find many of them in companies; once 1 person enters, they will bring their people.
She will start by making anon uncomfortable to put her off, which may affect ther performance, and then start complaining and highlighting any mistakes she makes which ordinarily shouldn't be a big issue.

Anon 20:10, my advice is to remain professional and learn as fast as you can. Avoid office gossip and don't say anything bad against anyone. Keep your eyes open and observe the office dynamics.
If she is supposed to be teaching you and isn't happy doing it, find a colleague who can teach you or allow you to shadow. It's important that you don't rely on this manager to teach you properly. She may start reporting that you are difficult to teach while deliberately trying not to teach you everything you need to know or making it confusing. You need to learn how the job you are employed for is done WITHOUT her help. If you rely on her, OYO be your own.

If the attitude continues, ask her if you could have a chat and ask if she has any problem with how you do your work. If she says yes, let her tell you what you aren't doing right. If she says no, tell her that you noticed that she raises her voice when she speaks to you (or whatever it is she does that is unprofessional) and would appreciate if she will have a chat with you instead of embarrassing you or putting you/your work down in front of others. Listen to what she says and what she doesn't say.
Only do this if you are 100% certain that you will not raise your voice or lose your cool. It's important to have this chat with her so that if the attitude continues and you have to escalate it to the other manager, you can let her know that you've had a chat with the person about this without any change.
Don't report without first letting the person know.

Document, document, document. Write down the date the other incident happened and your colleague advised you to report. Write down the date you had a chat with her and document her attitude or rudeness or ill treatments towards you. When the case starts, and you want to show how it has been affecting your mental health, you will need to be as detailed as possible the first time you report this. You will be surprised that you may forget a lot of things and you may not have the opportunity to keep bringing them up as you remember without it looking as though you are adding pepper and salt.

I hope the chat helps so you can focus on the job and making your money. All the best.

  2. My period is 5 days late. I am really worried because this has never happened before. i don't know if this delay has anything to do with the exercise(workout) i just started,i have been skipping 1500 daily, jogging 10 laps and doing aerobics/cardio daily for the past 10 days.
I has to use PT strip yesterday but it is showing me negative. I am really really worried.

Everything was going on well,The choreography, drama, debate, music even item7 was all good, until they started awarding the best in each subjects and then finally the overall best...Some students got five medals, even six, while some unfortunately got none.

    Here is the dramaπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
I didn't know that one lady parent sitting directly opposite me was fuming with anger and disgust.
Aunty wetin be the issue,I wondered.
Next thing her pretty graduating daughter with all her makeup came to her and that was when the lady bursted and said to her child "So you couldn't even win atleast one award ehn...Not even best dumbest student'...shoo🀯

I sha blame the girl ohh..During my time...

Funny thing is that proteins are mostly those stuff some parents deny their kids of so that they won't have 'long throat', when it's actually what the kids need to grow, e.g fish, egg, beef, milk, chicken etc.. instead of giving a child a full egg, they'll divide it into 3 for the 3 kids, how pikin won take grow..

    10. That's true Dante. I was telling someone the same thing yesterday. Beans has a higher percentage of carbohydrates than protein. It's a second class protein while animal protein is the main/first class protein.

As a matter of fact, a cup of beans has more calories than a cup of rice. The only thing is that the fibre/cellulose in beans helps to regulate calories.

This is now scaring me. Ordinary theory, I never write sef, talk more of practical. I have sha set aside 700 euros aside because I’m giving myself a maximum of 3 trials.

This language someone doesn’t speak is a huge problem sha because God bless ur soul u get one of those grumpy, female examiners. Even if they understand English, they will never choose to speak English knowing fully well u don’t understand them.

I don kuku tell my husband to make sure he doesn’t fail his (he’s passed theory already yesterday) so he can help me be paying for my own if I fail.

    5. Eka Joy, what you need to pass a driving test is courage. Do not panic. Be the boss in the presence of the examiner. Dress simple, comfortable and neat. Use a mild fragrance and wear a clean smelling hair. Take control of the test by adjusting the seat, mirrors, etc as soon as you get seated even if they looked alright. Politely ask your examiner to wear a seat belt if he/she is not wearing one. Basic language skill is all you need. Know what right and left hands are called. Learn what a turn, merge, reverse, park etc are called. Even if you make a mistake, be confident and don’t lose your guard. You are not training to drive like James Bond, it is more of how confident you are behind the wheel.

The issue now is that the girl, who was discovered 3 months pregnant does not want an abortion. The parents are shutting everyone out of it right now and the fear is that they will likely trick the girl to the doctor's and kill the baby. Their case tire me.

    Let me rant.

Your salary takes care of you alone. I pay all the bills. I leave home by 6:30am and return by 6pm or 7pm and I still do some chores.
You leave home by 2pm and return by 11pm or thereabout. You sleep till 12 noon or 1pm (wakes up briefly to have breakfast and go back to sleep).
We make soup only on your off days, which happens once in a week. Even if I should go to market and buy stuff to make it easier for you, you'll refuse to cook unless it's your off day.
Now that you have changed department and close early you choose to hang around and wait for friends to return home at 11:15pm... I don't understand??? Your work place is not far from home - a trek able distance if there's no bike.

I told her to quit the job by end of the month and go visit her mum - I said her mum misses her.
I hope she have some sense and reset her brain.
    End of rant.

    7. So sorry about that. The vaccine reduces the fatality of the disease, not the transmission of or infection with it. Please seek urgent medical care and protect those around you. Warm/hot fluids with ginger and lemon teas and maybe pepper in food if you have the stomach for it. Also try to rest and sleep very well.

    8. Thank you all, I cannot remember the vax I took tbh but this covid didn’t hit me hard. It started with a really bad sore throat on Wednesday then blocked nose followed. I feel better now but can’t taste or smell anything and I’m away from home!!! I’m pretty sure my son brought it home from school because he has a bad cold from Monday but it is home now.

    2. Why do you want him in your business? You said "Money e no get to take person out...." so if he had money you won't mind going over to his house and allow him enter your pant, right?

    3. No not true. I believe in building friendships first. If it will lead to anything it will. A lot of Lagos boys will just tell you to come to their house and they only want to smash. It’s not nice. Sometimes babes like me are just looking for friends and contacts not sick. Plus my business can make him a millionaire in months if he will just be serious after which he will be able to afford any babe he wants. Just trying to make money not fuck abeg.

    1. Dandruff shampoo

    2. Poster, dandruff can be very annoying but understanding it might help with the solution. Dandruff may be caused by multiple factors, including dry skin, seborrheic dermatitis, sensitivity to hair products, and the growth of a specific type of fungus that lives on your scalp. Most people who have dandruff are sensitive to other things and the supposed treatments for dandruff will only exacerbate their problem. I have been there and I tried it all. One thing to note is that stress can also flare up your dandruff and certain hair styles. Most dandruff treatments offer only natural products but then, how natural is the natural products. You might start by trying out one product at a time. What grows A’s hair might actually thins B’s hair. These are some of the home products that help with dandruff.
Tea tree oil. It has anti-microbial and inflammatory properties.
Aspirin: Salicylic acid which is the main product in aspirin is what is in those anti-dandruff shampoos. It has an anti-inflammatory property. You can crush them into power, turn them into a paste and massage directly to your scalp before rinsing out.
Apple cider vinegar: It is acidic in nature and can balance the PH of your scalp. It also has anti-fungal property which can help your scalp. Massage your scalp directly with it can be beneficial.
Baking soda: Baking soda helps in softening the dead cells on your scalp. It also has anti-fungal properties. You can turn it into a paste and massage your scalp with it. Allow it to sit for some minutes and then rinse off. You can mix it with water or apple cider vinegar.
Diet: Fatty foods, excess carbs, red meats can also flare up your dandruff. Building up your immune system can also help you fight the dandruff.
DIYs: You can make your own hair products. Most of the things in our kitchen are great. Flaxseed, hibiscus flower, black seed, clover, thyme, ginger, and many more. You can infuse them like tea and use as hair spray or you can ferment them in a carrier oil like almond, grapeseed, olive oil for at least 30 days. Be creative. YouTube has a lot of great ideas.
Another mistake people make is to mistake psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis and eczema as dandruff. Psoriasis looks so much like dandruff on black people. Psoriasis is not contagious as well as dandruff but it is an auto immune disorder that runs in families. It cannot be treated but can be managed.
Bottom line: Keep your scalp moisturize, you can achieve this by spraying with water and tea tree oil. Try out essentials oils like peppermint, lemongrass, and bergamot. Dilute them in carrier oil on add drops to your hair cream or spray bottle. Refrain from doing hair styles that can stress your scalp so much, air out your scalp, reduce heat application, and make use of silk bonnet or pillow cases. You can clean your scalp with witch hazel as well. Watch what you eat, you might discover what flares up your scalp issue.
