Wow....
Heller wonderful pipu of this wicked world!
How una dey?
Stellamamacita...how market? I hail o!
Na as I dey read one tori upandan about person wey dey worry say her husband fit find male pikin outside, if she nor quick born.
Na im I remember when we dey small. We get one neighbour for next compound.
The man na Doctor, the wife na Banker.
For my entire life till now, I never see woman wey beautiful like that. Choi! She too fine abeg!
They born seven girls! The husband na reputable title holder for village. The girls na 1 year interval dey between them.
*I join you hail the woman o!*
If they wan comot go church, the children go hold each other hand dey waka. Like this, pikin go dey hungry person born fast fast!
Fast forward to years after, the first girl enter Medical school like the papa, he nor too tey, the second one too follow enter for medicine and Surgery, the third one too the same thing. Na the fourth one go read BFN.
Na the day wey i go the hospital where the two oldest girls dey work, na when I find out say their mama later born boy as the 8th child. Choi!
If you see the woman, she fine pass Bianca, if she no open mouth greet person for Igbo, you go think say na oyinbo she be! Very humble! Skin like glass!
Na as I come dey follow my own childhood friend gist, wey the matter come up, na im she tell me say no be their mama born the boy o! But till tomorrow the girls no go ever know?!
I say how?!
My friend Papa dey very close to their Papa, as the two men, na for East dem grow, go school, travel out, come back Lagos to settle down and continue practice.
She tell me say, the man and the wife between themselves agree say the man go impregnate anybody wey the wife chose for am, from her mother's village. The man travel with the wife go meet the wife's mother, na the woman do the selection of the virgin girl.
The girl carry the belle, relinquish all rights to the pikin. Infact she say they no let the birth mother know who the man identity be or even the gender of the baby. I say how he come do the do?
She say those kain things na inside dark room, nothing like 'baby on the light'! *sideeyes*
They agree say if na girl or boy, they go still take care of the baby and give the birth mother anything wey she want except access to the baby. As luck would have it, na boy she born.
I say no be native surrogacy be this one? Difference be say the man go do the do directly and the wife no get contribution. She look me begin laugh.
She say for that kain case, the birthmother no dey too bother as na rich person join her get the pikin! Say na lifetime insurance but she no go ever know the man or the wife identity.
She say some cases dey way be say, the birthmother go know the identity of the person but she go remain for the family with some kain rights.
I ask if the woman go fit befriend another person? She say that one depends o, as some women go remain incase the man want to jollify whenever he visits.
I say no be 'native baby mama' something be that? She say na coded kind of mistresship, but with the permission of the wife of course!
I say why the women no ask to be married as second wife instead to dey out side the fence? She say if na so e easy, the man for just go knock up any strange woman for road.
I say so when the man kpai nko? And the birthmother knows their identity and the babys gender? And she wants to claim inheritance as na she born boy? She say that one na their headache o!
I say what if one day the girl begin miss the baby? She say which kain miss?! Say sometimes, those girls go just wan go school, city or guarantee meal tickets for their aged parents or greedy uncles.
I say na wa o! Even in the 70's, things dey happen!
So they carry the baby come Lagos to raise with the 7girls, as the boy come resemble the papa and all the girls sef na their papa face dem carry, nobody fit ever suspect anything.
I say but the children suppose sense say their mama no carry big belle around the house na.
She come tell me say, even as we were Small, the woman fit waka pass you today or greet you for balcony now now, next minute her water don break, she don land hospital! I say you sure say na she born those children? She say yes o! Confirm! Say women strong pass women! I open mouth dey look!
Wetin me I notice be when them born the 5th girl, I go deliver message to the woman, I enter their house begin hear new baby dey cry, the woman sister dey carry bowl and bucket with water wey get blood inside to pour for their restroom.
E don tey wey FBI dey my Body, na first time wey I go see as dem dey use hot water and towel press new mother belle. I see the evidence say na she born that one. Three days later, I see her for balcony, you no go believe say she just born. *Choi! Women are wonderful abeg!*
To born na normal thing for their house. The woman mama born 12 children, so that one be like hereditary something. I say no wonder!
Na wa o..

ReplyDeleteHaaaaa!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...i get one for my family wey no know say im wife go dey carry belle outside give am
ReplyDeleteGood for them ooo
ReplyDeleteHmmm!
ReplyDeleteThis is standard practice in some villages in Rivers state. A man's wife can marry a woman for her husband and have kids by her, if she is ttc, or seeks a male child, which is not really important because, the first daughter normally assumes the role of a heir in her fathers house. She can give birth to replace her, and later marry if she chooses to.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting story.
ReplyDeleteThis has always been there right from time. I know someone that was paid to do this by one big man and his wife, they had 2 boys from this arrangement and everybody went their separate ways.
ReplyDeleteHe said the man started getting mutinous of how much his wife was enjoying the service, what did he expect bringing a fine young man to service his wife for the 3 days of her ovulation? I think a legal/medical surrogacy is better.
Things dey happen oooo
ReplyDeleteWomen are gifted.
