  12. Stella, okpa is made from a kind of seed that looks like beans. They call it bambara seed

    1. Is it the same seed that people snack on the roasted one? It's now packaged in bottles like cashew nuts.

    2. No Love and wealth charms, that one you're talking about is called UKWA (bread fruit) in english language. Okpa seed looks just like beans but smaller in size and a slight difference in shape. It's ground into powder and then processed and cooked into this sweet delicacy you see up there.

  31. The same you prepare moi moi but it has to be very light when you mix if not it will be like stone

  32. The enugu okpa I was given was tasteless. Never again!

  33. Okpa is made from Bambara nuts. Its even easier to make than moi moi. Blend the nuts with uziza seeds, preferably without water. Pour palm oil into the finely blended mix, and massage thoroughly till there are no white patches. Pour water gradually, add maggi, crayfish, salt, fresh pepper. I occasionally add sardine but my kids don't like it as its more original without it. I don't know the leaf that is used though. Stir to the consistency and taste you like. Pour into that moi moi waterproof and place in boiling water. Remove when hard and enjoy πŸ˜‰

    1. Dear Anon 13:23, it is a taboo to add any other ingredient(s) to okpa apart from uziza, salt, pepper and palm oil ( and water of course).

If I am not mistaken, you can only get the original okpa from Nsukka.

      Thank you 😊
