Singer Tiwa Savage Reveals She Was Prevented From Performing Because Of Her Outfit

Singer Tiwa Savage says she was often blocked from performing when she first returned to Nigeria because people felt her outfits were too revealing.

Speaking with BET, she said, “People didn’t realize how old I was. They saw the ‘Kele Kele’ video and thought I was some young American Rihanna‑looking girl. I was already in my 30s.”
She recalled waiting backstage at shows only to be told she couldn’t perform because, as she put it, “Maybe the governor’s wife said I shouldn’t come out or wear any of those my outfits.”
Tiwa added that the criticism only pushed her harder, saying, “You guys want RnB? You shouldn’t have said that, because I’m about to destroy.”
