INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD.

I noticed my son was always cranky and would scream his lungs out non stop when we go out in crowded and noisy places such as churches, market and malls as early as nine months old. He would even develop a fever and start wheezing if he wasn’t taken out of the place.

This made me start reading up about children with social anxiety disorders and learning disabilities and I realised that there isn’t much awareness about learning disabilities and other behavioural disabilities in children here in Nigeria.

A lot of kids a termed weird, anti social, too stubborn, dullards etc and made to feel like they aren’t good enough when they are simply just struggling themselves.

This one of the reasons I believe the educational system needs a complete overhaul and things need to be put in place to help kids that have learning disabilities.

Most learning disabilities are present from birth, but most people don’t find out till their kids have missed a mile stone or have difficulty learning in school. It can be hereditary or caused by complications during child birth and so many other factors.

The common ones I read about are ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).

Children with ADHD have trouble paying attention and focusing on a single task. They are easily distracted and very hyperactive.

ADD( Attention Deficit Disorder (is similar or almost the same with ADHD but in this case the children are not hyperactive nor struggle with impulsiveness.

Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability that affects the processing of spoken and written words. Children with dyslexia usually have difficulty reading accurately and fluently. There are around 3 categories of this.

Dyscalculia children with this struggle with learning mathematical concepts and understanding numbers and how it works.

Dysgraphia this disorder affects the physical act of writing holding pencil etc. This leads to grammar and punctuation issue.

Dyspraxia affects movement, coordination, language and speech. There are so many other social, behavioral and neurological disabilities that children have.

Getting help or diagnosis has been difficult for people I know with kids that fall under any of the spectrum. We have very few pediatric specialists in this areas in the country.

Please before you label your child please seek the opinion of an expert (pediatrician) . Some kids are just taking their time and there is nothing wrong with them.

Errrrr did we post this before? I am not so sure!

Sometimes even an expert does not know more than the mother knows....
Please mothers study your kid well enough to know that there is a problem even before the expert tells you so...

MEMO FOR TUESDAY CHRONICLE POSTER

Stella this is for IHN for the chronicle poster of yesterday (Tuesday)

I was in your shoes before. Miss independent, contributing a large part to everything including our wedding and CS bill. Houserent, school fees, name it. I didn't even take good care of my mum and I had the money.

Then I lost my job and hubby showed me pepper. I would ask him for money to buy even sanitary pads as he doesn't give me one Kobo and I didn't have any relative to give me money, they were all struggling. When I ask, he would flare up and say hurtful words to me. I wept, I became a shadow of myself.

Then God blessed me with another job. I borrowed myself brain. He didn't know my salary cos we were not close anymore, he has become a small god in the house. I just told him one amount like that. Even if he knew the salary, I was also paid some hidden allowances too. I started saving to take of myself and my mum, I didn't contribute much to the house anymore like before.

There is no foodstuff and he is broke? I will buy noodles and eggs and cook for everybody that one time, finish! Or I buy bread and tea let everybody be dipping the bread inside the tea and eat and drink water if they are not ok. If it was before, I would go and stock up the house with my money. He is the one taking care of the food, school fees, houserent, etc. Sebi he is lord of the house, let him continue taking care of the bills. I only add little amount if he gives me money for foodstuff and I need to buy more stuff for my kids or myself like milk and cereals or clothes.

Also, if he is broke and we need to pay house rent or school fees, if he asks me for money, I will just bring out 15k or 20k, tell him that is what I have. Now, I have money in savings(I opened a new account without bank alerts and no bank app on my phone, I check my balance using USDD).

My kids and myself look good, my mum is not suffering. Hubby is now looking for ways to win me back like when we started. I don't tell tell him things about my job or what I do for my family anymore. He doesn't know my financial worth.

I have learnt

Na wah oh.. where do you see these kind of men to marry sef? Or is it that you spoil them so much that when it is time to man up, they cant?

I hold my own side but i cannot deal with a stingy man, I CANNOT!!!

  10. I can never condone a cheating man even in ordinary dating sef. Call me gold digger or whatever and u will explain if it's the 5k or 2k or 3k etc u are giving me that is the gold I'm digging.

How can u want anything and u can't ask ur own husband especially if he can afford it.

I will say this, since I relocated here, my husband's debit card has been permanently in my purse. He has all his card details on his phone and I hold the physical card, of course, I do not abuse this by spending unnecessarily without informing him.

It's annoying to actually hear that men don't take care of their wives personal needs. I have never been shy to ask. If I need 80 euros to make my hair, my husband is definitely bringing 50 euros. And he will happily do it and God keeps blessing him.

Keep being stingy to ur wife and see if God that put her under ur care won't deal with u. Rubbish!

  26. Chronicle advice, they will not learn o. As we type, a female bv is planning to marry a stingy man. Others are still forming Miss Independent

    ReplyDelete
  27. I fear stingy men, marrying their type is frustrating

    ReplyDelete
  28. Okay I've been wanting to type this but I was waiting to clear my skin first. An Anonymous commenter asked about honey and tumeric mix here sometime last month. I read comments under it saying...Try it you'd love your look, someone even suggested using tomatoes too and sugar I think.. I don't have a bad skin like I could go out and not feel any type of way cos of my skin with no make up on but I guess I wanted the extra glow.

I started using honey and tumeric mixture ooo. Which can be found in any kitchen.. Simple right? One week later, my face got so dry and my under eye so thin. I continued into the 2nd week, and then I had to advise myself and say the truth... This stuff isn't working. Omo, I stopped and it got worst. Who send me? I now had to be wearing not to heavy make up daily to cover up the dryness. It wasn't easy but with lots of water, enough sleep at night and my cream which has been nothing but good to me for years, I'm back to my natural glow.

My mom laughed at me really bad and was patiently waiting for my outcome so she can join me. But since I was the experiment which turned bad. She refused to do again. It is well ooo. I guess all skin type are not the same. Na Pears lotions and water I dey use since with zero complain. Make I remain here.

    1. Hi rapsody, some of these remedies are not to be used everyday, maybe this is one of them. Probably if you had used once or twice a week it won’t have been that bad. If you can buy vitamin c or carrot oil and you will love your facial glow.

    2. I always laugh when people are sharing these hilarious recipes from google. Sugar on the face??? See you see micro tears. Once skin barrier is broken, wahala ti de...

    4. I also tried that honey and turmeric mixture shared on the Blog last month. After rinsing off my face with warm water, I will let the water to dry on its own without using towel (let towel not go and infect it) 🤣
Then I will apply vitamin C oil. Omo, the breakout on my face will scare a baby . I stopped and started looking for treatments for big pimples o🤣

    5. Rhapsody, did you moisturise well after use? All these organic stuff contain drying agents, you don't use everyday, you moisturize, also if your skin is sensitive, you dilute it

They now inserted the one in the womb entrance, that one only scattered my monthly flow and gives me cramps during periods but it is still manageable.
