Crooners Peter Okoye And Seun Kuti's Presidential Candidate Brouhaha

Crooners Peter Okoye and Seun Kuti have been engaged in an exchange of hot words on the Internet for some days now and it does not look like it is stopping any time soon..

The Online exchange of words is as a result of some disagreement that has to do with the Presidential candidates of two political parties...

This has always been the trend in Nigeria that people fight over politicians while these politicians do not fight each other over the masses, they know the game and laugh and hug at functions when they meet....

Pity huh?

What do you think about Peter and Seuns current brouhaha? Are you one of those taking sides with either Peter or Seun?

    2. A guy that comes online to smoke igbo, spew obvious things in a twisted manner in order to manipulate undiscerning followers that don't read.... What has Seun done for the Nigerian people other than smoke igbo online and promote his music ? What message does seun have for the you ? What hope has his struggling mop movement brought you ? What message does his music bring you ? It can be very difficult to live up to your great Dad's legacy but attacking Peter Obi is not the way brother.....If it wasn't for Fela's legacy, would Seun had called Aisha Buhari fat ? Never......This guy is fooling no one. Believe him at your own risk...The system that oppresses other Nigerian youth can't touch him and he knows it..... He hasn't felt what other youths go through. I pity those of you that will support Atiku and Tinubu...Peter Obi is the way, the truth and the life.... In my view, a disintegrated Nigeria is best for the country because we are not one people.... I will vote for Peter Obi because he has the capacity, track record, empathy and competence to build a new Nigeria... I believe Nigeria can see a glimpse of greatness under Peter Obi's leadership. However, in the event that Atiku or Tinubu wins, I still win because because this country will collapse... Nigeria is pretending to be united but we are not... Every region should govern themselves as they wish....

    3. Tinubu will win and this country will not scatter. You can't force Peter Obi on Nigerians, the worse that can happen is for your IPOB to continue destruction in their land.

    1. People should try and forget what PO supporters are saying or writing and focus on the man himself. His agenda for the country. He's not a saint but a lesser evil. PO supporters sees those supporting the bigger evils as traitors and sycophants, that's just it.

    1. Seun is very wrong for calling Peter Obi an opportunist. Peter is only trying to right the wrong created by the criminals that have been in power. Peter Obi left 87Billion in Anambra State coffers when he left office. Peter is not hungry like Seun and his siblings caught in camera soaking garri

      Delete
    2. Obi is a criminal who underdeveloped Anambra. Tell the world his achievements. Tell us why he didn't conduct local government elections for 8 years. Tells us why he didn't declare the money saved with his daughter's name in Panama. Be honest enough to explain why he didn't fix any gully despite receiving ecological funds for 8 years. 45% of the land mass of Anambra is filled with gullies

    3. Lyndy you mean Seun is hungry because he and his siblings were caught on camera soaking garri? As in Seun Kuti is hungry? Like, garri is being soaked only by the poor and hungry? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Pls if you must support any of them wrestlers, use good points abeg.

I'm just shaking my head at both of them.

    4. PO is corrupt but is the least corrupt. However he lives in a glass house so his supporters like me avoid throwing stones but use our line of “he is the best of the worst top three, mentally fit and alert. Anything else is a stretch.

“Mr Obi has two children- a daughter, Gabriella Nwamaka Frances Obi, and a son, Gregory Peter Oseloka Obi. Sometime in 2010, more than four years after he became governor, the politician developed an appetite to set up his first discreet company in the British Virgin Island. He named the company Gabriella Investments Limited, after his daughter

To set up what has now become a convoluted business structure, Mr Obi first approached Acces International, a secrecy enabler in Monaco, France, to help him incorporate an offshore entity in one of the world’s most notorious tax havens noted for providing conduits for wealthy and privileged corrupt political elites to hide stolen cash to avoid the attention of tax authorities.

Tax havens are politically and economically stable offshore jurisdictions or countries with extensive laws and systems that provide little or no tax obligations, but enable high secrecy and privacy protection for foreign individuals and businesses.

Mr Obi also paid Acces International to provide nominee directors for the company. Nominee directors are residents of tax havens paid to sit on boards of companies to hide the identities of real owners of offshore firms.

So, after accepting a brief from the then governor , Acces International officials headed to the British Virgin Island, a notorious tax haven, where it contracted a local registered agent – Aleman Cordero Galindo & Lee Trust (BVI) Limited (Alcogal) — to set up Gabriella Investments Limited for Mr Obi”.. the rest is online by international journalists that worked on the Pandora papers.

Even Abami Eda himself if he was still living won't condone and support these set of politicians his son is clamouring for and dragging us into.

This isn't all about tribal sentiment or whatsoever. It's an election of survival. Nigeria is at the verge of collapsing. People should mind their actions because we will remember them tomorrow when it happens and hold them responsible.

It's a pity some people can't feel our pains and sufferings. I watched how Tinubu daughter finished all of them yesterday not sparing even his father. This is how a daughter should be. Go and watch that video.

This is fighting for the soul of Nigeria, if you still don't get it, then forget!

A New Nigeria is very P.O.ssible.

    2. I watched Mr Kuti’s first video. He was definitely not for Tinubu & stated that “even Sowore his friend” cannot save Nigeria so he is for Sowore, the only truly anti establishment candidate who has no chance of winning.

The reason this blew up is because of the fascist & bullying tendencies of many PO supporters who try to force folks to “publicly take a stand”. It is not compulsory to take a public stand as voting is private. Voting is private hence the campaign on ideology in developed nations not rally crowds & online intimidation. That’s the beauty of Democracy and secret ballot. You cannot be acting like wannabe dictators while mouthing democracy.

As a PO supporter, the insults on all Yorubas as if we will all vote for the same person is enough. We respect our few true heroes & the Kutis have earned their place in Nigerian history for generations. Fela was jailed in the struggle against brutal military regimes, the struggle for democracy. Femi was insulted & bullied last year when he said he had no candidate, even PO who gets history more than Psquare went with Charly Boy to apologize to Femi Kuti. Seun called PO an opportunist. Is it ok to call Tinubu & Atiku insulting names like junkie, druggie, etc but throw a hissy fit at the descriptive term, opportunist? Peter of Psquare was the one that said Seun “erased his father’s legacy by his words”. How so? That is what got many pissed off. Seun said nothing out of place for the Kutis. Do you guys realize Fela didn’t care that Obasanjo was his kinsman from Abeokuta when the latter was a military president? He sang Zombie, + many of his hits, had a running battle with Obj, because they are not into tribalism. Seun has a right to support whoever & a right to free speech. Stop the attempts at making PO lose some support he already has across ethnicities as one group can not elect a Nigerian president.

It’s looking like a PO presidency if he does not check his followers excesses will deteriorate into a dictatorship where nobody can criticize him. Democracy & good governance calls for accountability & if he wins we need to be able to hold him accountable. The “boys-quarters mentality”, legacy of British colonization needs to stop! It’s the reason we call the looters “honorables” & call mediocre folks “your excellency”. The leaders reflect the people they are selected from. Stop the insults & aggressive attacks on his opponents or undecided voters online. We can persuade in a civil way on why he will be a better president than the other two.

Anon 17:26 asked what Seun has done for the masses, what has Psquare done for anyone outside his family? Seun lost his grandma to the military regime, a sacrifice by their family. He is a consistent critic of bad governance. As to drinking Garri, no offense, If Garri was a sign of the Kutis being poor??? it shows they have integrity, as Fela could have “cooperated” & made $billions by dining with the oppressors so Seun will be cooling off jet skiing in Colorado by now. We are talking old moneyed & connected Lagos/Abeokuta elites in Nigeria since the 40s! As to weed, sadly most musicians smoke it. Making money via gambling, a top cause of suicide among youths, is not “holier than thou” too. The Kutis have been among the power elites since the 40s & they still have global recognition till date. Fela is an icon & a hero of democracy. Imagine some dragging him as “not even a musician”! Fela studied music at Trinity College of Music, University of London in the 60s like Made Kuti his grandson did, composing real music hence the global recognition decades after his death. Fela on Broadway NY is the first time a subsaharan African has been honored that way.

Calling Seun, a Grammy nominee a failure confirms what many see as the “make money at any costs” mentality that messed up Nigeria! History should be taught again in Nigerian schools.

    3. Actually if Fela was alive, Sowore will be his choice, PO is an establishment person but he is the best of the worst so I would vote PO as Sowore has no chance.

I really wish I can take all Nigerians on vacation..let them just experience 24 hrs electricity no generator, let them see sleek good roads, let them walk around at night without fear.. let them be in a classroom, learning from nobel laureate professors, let them have so many options when they go shopping, let them write down their dreams and see it come to pass. Then let them come back, and vote. It breaks my heart that many are living in abject penury, way below the standards of human dignity..

I feel sad when some will keep saying eeeh 'abroad is not heaven', sure it is not but, you see a system working and thriving for it's citizens to be better than they the previous government.
They compete to try and make things easier for their countrymen.

      But, come down here?
What one see is like a constant conspiracy to 'wicked' and make things extremely difficult for it's citizens.
Everyone is strictly for his pocket, and can do the unthinkable to make sure the monies is kept in the 'family'!
It's so sad that even the simplest things, citizens would have to beg and crawl!

May we as a people get it right this time around.

  12. I honestly believe Peter Obi is an opportunist. He condemns every policy of the federal government, he has never said anything good about the present government. Now that people are suffering and hungry because of the money swap policy, he came out to support the policy. Obviously believing he came benefit from the suffering of the mass of the Nigerian people

    4. Anon 17:26 & other PO “saint makers” want to turn him into a saint and are putting off those of us that helped support him from the start. Calling him “the way, the truth & the life” is very disrespectful to the Lord Jesus. Peter Obi is my preferred candidate not because he is a saint but because he has “chopped less” than the others, is alert and mentally fit. Turning him into a saint is bizarre😳 Even Mandela, the Madibu himself & Barack Obama the next person in US politics beloved by most blacks is often criticized, insulted & caricatured. Seun Kuti called him an opportunist & the “sky is falling but the same guys call his opponents drug lords, junkie, etc & nobody made a fuss! Are we seeing a budding dictator in PO, made so by overzealous supporters who will take down free speech & create a hostile online environment unless he stops them in their tracks. Obi’s Gabriella investment was in the Pandora papers compiled by 600 journalists globally poring over 12 million documents to track illicit monies. For Sure Mr Tinubu is most likely worse but nobody is denying his own credentials as a very corrupt politician & mafia like “ruler” who many of us would not like to see as President. Maligning heroes like Fela who was jailed multiple times by the military regimes over the years is in poor taste. The matriarch of the Kuti Family, Funmilayo Kuti was thrown down from the first floor of Fela’s house. She died fighting for a better Nigeria. Not a tribe.

Many do not know Professor Wole Soyinka the Nobelist and foremost literary icon was jailed for supporting Biafra after which he wrote “The man died”. Soyinka must feel very sad at the generalizations & bickering between both tribes.

Nigerians frankly have three bad top choices but he is the best of the worst. Turning him into a tribal saint is unacceptable. It is a myth that the East voted for Yoruba candidates because MKO Abiola lost to Tofa in the East in the only free & fair election in the modern history of Nigeria. Obasanjo whose PDP was the northern party doesn’t count because his opponent was another Yoruba man called Olu Falae of SDP. Either vote was for a Yoruba candidate because of the stolen MKO victory but one was for a northern proxy candidate in Obasanjo.
That isn’t even the issue now as many of us have promoted PO & are now concerned by the fascist tendencies of his followers. These folks will clampdown on free speech at this rate. Let this nonsense stop.

Seun Kuti said nothing out of place. If you don’t want to be called names why are you in politics? Mr Datti Ahmed was crying at insults the other day! The most insulted president of the US is Obama who has a thick skin. Even Biden is derisively called “Brandon” & constantly made jest of. The presidents even made fun of themselves at the annual White House correspondents dinner. If we want democracy and good governance in Nigeria we must denounce dictatorial tendencies immediately.

    5. Anon 14:55 “ just open mouth waaa” is the kind of toxic, insultive discourse from some PO supporters. You didn’t have to abuse him as his comment focused on issues, nothing personal! You guys need to stop this aggression else many will jump ship from supporting PO as we don’t need the toxicity & bullying by some followers.

      Delete
    6. You are right about the dictatorial and fanatical tendencies of the Obi Datti supporters. Their foolish zealousness has reduced his outing to a sectional campaign with religious and ethic suspicion and bigotry packaged as a movement. A faultless saint despite all the evidence? The victim mentality of Nigeria's alleged saviors? They will soon count the votes.

  13. Seun made some very salient points tho..

If you say he is right, you are right and if you say he is wrong, you're right too..

It depends on the perception you are viewing it from..

He is someone I have much respect for..

Criticism is needed as a check to abuse/misuse of power.. everyone cannot be hyping Obi.. sycophancy is one of the biggest issue that has killing this country..

I support Obi and I'll vote for him, but I won't turn a blind eye when I see things he isn't doing well or things he can do better

    ReplyDelete
  14. This needs to stop🛑 I’m a PO supporter. Anon 17:26 a former Nigerian governor is “your way truth & life”??? Stop the blasphemy already. I followed the conversation. Seun called PO an “opportunist” saying even his preferred politician Sowore is not going to save Nigerians. That “Nigerians are the ones who will save Nigerians”.

If calling Peter Obi an opportunist is “an insult why is it ok to call his opponents “junkies, drug lord”, real insults? Do you want to turn him into an infallible fascist dictator? No. Others will not agree to that! The demonization of opponents and saintification of PO is wrong & undemocratic. It is called FASCISM! Presidents Obama, Clinton, Bush, even Trump & Biden etc & Western, Indian democratic officials can be called names but even a Kuti from a lineage of fighting colonization to brutal military regimes & being jailed & killed (the military jailed Fela severally, pushed Funmilayo Kuti from the first floor of Fela’s house, killing her), for free speech can not call PO an opportunist?

Femi Kuti was bullied last year, now Seun Kuti for saying exactly what their late dad had said to politicians & successive brutal military regimes by PO supporters! It’s surreal. It makes one wonder what human rights of his opponents will be under his presidency as his followers will clamp down on free speech. Even PO had to go apologize to Femi Kuti because he knows better than Psquare. Nigerians if all ethnicities that have been behind PO will not allow this “Saintification”. He was & is a politician in the most corrupt country on earth, the least corrupt of the top three guys. Comparing him to Jesus, the WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE (John 14:6) is blasphemy, Anon 17:26 needs to withdraw the ignorant stuff he wrote there. For the record, Peter was the first to reference Fela, saying “this guy just threw away his father’s legacy” over an opinion not unlike the Kutis.

It is fascism to dictate to people who to vote for in a democracy. A democracy works on persuasion using superior arguments, I donated, and was active in the Democratic Party so that Trump will not win, then so he will not be re-elected. Neither regular electorates nor leaders like Obama and the top Dems will dictate that anybody who voted Trump hated the US because democracy is not to demonize your opponents, it’s the reason votes ARE PRIVATE. As one who has pushed PO candidacy, the tone of some of his Igbo supporters is concerning.

Yes the “ International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ)-led Pandora Papers project” names PO & his companies. This was by “ 600 journalists from 150 news organizations around the world poring through a trove of 11.9 million confidential files, contextualizing information, tracking down sources and analyzing public records and other documents” so it’s not a Seun Kuti thing but he is less corrupt than the other 2.
