  2. NAVIGATING LIFE’s LOSSES

'A time to gain, and a time to lose.' Ecclesiastes 3:6 NKJV

God's word neither ignores nor minimises the painful realities of life. Inevitably, we and our loved ones will experience life's losses: illness, ageing, death, divorce, disability, loss of independence, unemployment, financial reversals, etc. Today's culture prepares us for gain, but not for loss; to dance, but not to mourn (see Ecclesiastes 3:4). Major losses throw us into unchartered territory.

We need to understand the dynamics of our loss to help us through it and back to living again. Life-changing loss begins with bereavement - the agony of feeling that something or someone indispensable to us has been ripped away, leaving us feeling robbed. Then comes grief - searing emotions of overwhelming sorrow that are often accompanied by anger, distress, confusion and helplessness. Next, we move into the mourning stage - and begin to express our grief and loss. This is the 'hard work' stage of tears, memories and heartrending spasms of weeping that shake us to our very core. We feel guilt and remorse over what we have said or done or not said or done. And our heartache gives those around us opportunity to respond, offering the comfort and reassurance we need to begin healing.

The Israelites' beloved leader died - leaving behind him a grief-stricken nation (see Deuteronomy 34). And God allowed them thirty days to mourn their loss and to comfort one another before resuming the business of life. So, take the time you need to do the work of mourning your losses because Jesus said, 'Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted' (Matthew 5:4 NKJV).

  3. His Nature In Us!!
    Ephesians 4:24. NLT.

    Excerpts!!

"Being born again, you’re born after the Second Adam, Jesus Christ; you were created after Him in righteousness and true holiness."

"No matter how much you train a dog to act like a human, it can never be human, because it doesn’t have the human life. To be human, you have to be born that way. We’re Godlike, and can emulate our heavenly Father, because we were born with His life and nature in us. It’s the reason we can do the same things Jesus did."

"His nature in you makes it possible to express love to those in your world, whether or not they deserve it."

    Confession!!

My divine nature causes me to live, love and talk like my heavenly Father; the beauty and compassion of Jesus is seen in and expressed through me, for as He is, so am I in this world.

  4. I’m not a Nollywood fan, I barely watch them, maybe only yoruba (I have to watch with company, can’t ever watch it alone) but the movies Uchenna Mbunabo is churning out is kinda making me feel Jiggy! I actually watched 3 in a row yesterday and didn’t sleep till past 4! Now that’s a record, Ray Emordi is actually not a bad actor, even tho he’s being overused lol! The babes are fire! Like the one in “On Page 31” fiiiiiiine geh! 😘

  5. MOST people only feel successful when they measure their success VS their friends and relatives....
Whether in marriage, childbirth, jobs, buying of cars/houses etc, some of us love to compete as if there was ever an award for who first got married or first had a child, etc.
Why can't we just push for success or blessings without having to use others as a yardstick to measure ours? May God save us from this unhealthy, unnecessary and senseless mentality.

  9. When I made the decision to be intentional in life, I did promise myself to always pay close attention to details and information mostly about people, events, situations and happenings around me.

    Maya Angelou was right when she said;

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

    Believe Me,

What is hidden in the dark will always come to light.

No mask can be worn forever.

The mask will eventually pulls off. In the end, people always have a way of revealing who they are.

You just have to give them the space and time to do so.

Give them enough rope, they'll eventually hang themselves. All you have to do is just watch & wait.

  22. This is for you;I know it’s not easy but worrying changes nothing..

What will be will be;and what will not? Will still not be..

Try and add a little touch of happiness in your life for your health sake;nothing is easy quite alright;but worrying increases the problem for you;even BP drugs are not free..

If you worry;you will still die one day..
If you don’t,you will still die as well..

At least enjoy the moment, one day all these pains will become a story..

No dey too carry your problem for face every minute;God will see you and yours through..
