AMEBO CHRONICLES- Crazy Tenant

When you hear the saying “many are mad, few are roaming” don’t just laugh it off because it is actually true. The only difference is the level and quality of madness people display.

This my Estate agent business is an adventure on its own because I get to meet all shades of characters.

I took a client out on inspection and we got to a very fine building, the finishing was beautiful. We went inside and met the person in charge but as soon as we stepped into the apartment I noticed that the sockets on the wall were missing and no taps anywhere even in the kitchen. The WC covers were removed and the junction box in the kitchen was empty. What happened?

The Person said the last tenant removed everything when he was leaving to spite the landlord.

Turns out the tenant was owing light bill and some other maintenance fee for too long and so the landlord disconnected his light for months and when he said he was leaving the apartment the Landlord was too happy to let him go, he forgot to check the apartment for damages.

Tenant decided to be petty and removed all the sockets, taps, switch and the WC covers of all the toilets in the apartment. Jeeezzzz

The Landlord called him several times and all he did was pick up and laugh even when the man threatened to track and arrest him, the tenant laughed over the phone until he finally blocked the Landlord.

My client and I were too shocked to even say anything.

Guess what else the tenant did again? He peed all over the place. I am not exaggerating but the place was stinking and the person said they already cleaned it and so if my client likes the place he can pay the rent and they won’t collect the damages so far he agrees to repair by himself.

Okay now we will get back to you LOL. My client and I literally ran away from there, only God knows what else the crazy tenant has done there.

Hahahahahahahahhahahahaha

  2. Some Landlords will test you though...This heavily pregnant woman came to fetch water at my place yesterday and I was shocked because they have water in their building and she said her landlord disconnected all the tenants because they use water more than he does...I just stared and stared lost for words.

  5. It is likely the tenant took the house when it was run down as you saw it now and was also told to fix is as your client is been told now.
What you heard is the landlord's version, if you hear the tenant's own you will be shocked.

I am also a realtor and have seen a lot. Though I know some tenants can be nasty and petty but for the landlord to tell your client to take the apartment as it is and fix, I am sure he told the person that moved out same thing.

  8. You haven't seen my former landlord. I know some tenants can be quite nasty but some landlords are devil-sent.
My former house was a mess the first time I went to inspect it. I was relocating to that city so I desperately need a place to stay. The man promised to fix the house when I pay.
I would travel back to get my things, so I paid with hope that it would be fixed before I come back.
We kept communicating and he updated me that the house was ready. I was shocked the day I arrived to see that everything was just as I left the last time. I enquired why he lied to me but man was just blabbing.
I fixed everything with more than half the rent I paid and told him I will remove it when next I'd pay the rent. Man unleashed his wickedness from nowhere. No be small attack both physical and spiritual. He cut my light and water. I was just stagnant for years.

Na run I take commot there before my eyes see my ears biko.

  9. Why didn't the landlord fix the house before trying to rent it out? How will the new tenant recoup their expenses? Some landlords will ask you to fix and give you quit notice before you even have time to enjoy the renovations. How can the place still be smelling of pee after it was cleaned and they didn't think of identifying the source of the smell and fixing it? They may need to repaint the house and check if the tenant left a bucket of pee on the ceiling.
