ReplyDeleteThey (fathers) had an idea of "being there" that is very different from our today's or other culture's idea of "being there".
Now I am a father, I know better than the standard I judged my father by. I wish I married and had my child before he slept. Our relationship would have been much better than it was. I am not alone on this feeling. I read here a female Bv's comment that her husband started appreciating his father more after he became a father himself.
We should cut our parents some slack. Enough of the fathers bashing. As it is not easy for the mothers so it is for the fathers. It is the same song on parenting. It is only the rhythm that differs for mothers and fathers.
Fathers bashing ke! Busola is only stating her experience. And on this blog, as far as I know, any gender that is doing poorly as a parent will be bashed.
DeleteAnon 18:05 what Bisola is saying is different from what you are saying. She stated her father neglected her and her siblings including their older siblings from different mums. Which goes to show the neglect was not peculiar to them alone. The dad is the problem by upping and ignoring the welfare of children he CHOSE to have.
