RE: LAGESC SET THE RECORDS STRAIGHT ON VIRAL ‘MAGODO’ ENFORCEMENT VIDEO
The attention of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), popularly known as KAI, has been drawn to a viral enforcement video making the rounds on various social mediums.
As the premier environmental enforcement Agency domiciled with the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, it is expedient to set the records straight, in light of the misinformation being peddled about the Agency on social media.
The viral video depicting our officers conducting a raid of walkways, sidewalks, lay-bys around the Magodo area of the State is a lawful and sanctioned operation by the Agency which came on the backheels of a forwarded petition by the Magodo Residents Association seeking to rid the estate and its environs of illegal street trading.
The Corps Marshal, CP Gbemisola Akinpelu (retd) signed off the operation after the Agency’s intelligence team investigated the huge trend of street trading along the axis in which the traders were found to be in gross violation of State laws, thereby resulting in a enforcement operation undertaken on Tuesday, 26th of September, 2023.
We must also State in clear terms that the mostly-perishable goods seized on site were confiscated and transmitted to Motherless Babies Homes on the same day with pictorial and documentary evidence to back up, as provided by the State’s environmental laws.
Also, the Agency wishes to inform further that the State’s environmental laws provides for non-perishable goods confiscated during operations to be placed in se
cured storage till a court order is obtained for public auction which must be adequately publicised.
The Corps Marshal reiterates her commitment to ridding the State of environmental nuisances as part of concerted efforts to make Lagos cleaner and habitable for business as enshrined in the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda of Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Hmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteOgaoooo..it's a pity shaaaa
I can't blame Kai I, if adekeke can do same at owode junction. The way these people curse hold up because of the wares arranged on the road ,atimes it causes accidents at that junction. Road safety had to deploy their staffs there
ReplyDeleteNa wa ooooo
ReplyDeleteI dont encourage road side selling but truth be told those are people cant afford to rent shop and they must eat. Economy is so bad i dont know how people who are earning minimum wage are coping
ReplyDeleteI just feel for the poor families involved. Most of them depend on these daily sales. It's well.
ReplyDeleteIt is the same Kia that keeps collecting bribe from those traders giving them the boldness to stay put on the roads. Can any trader or even danfo do anything irrational during Fashola time as Governor? All these problem is from them, they don't have a firm stand on issues.
ReplyDeleteI have a question.
ReplyDeleteWhat stops this KAI group from mounting signposts at designated points they don't want to see the women sell?
These guys are touts and crooks.
I watched the film clips, the systematic way they threw fruits and tubers of yams shows they're pro at it and been traders themselves.
If their wives' stalls are traced in the city or suburbs, you'll find them selling all these items they took from the roadside sellers.
Do they dirty estate walkways? Yes.
Do they criminalize the estate surroundings? Yes.
Solution:
Mount your Kai guards to not allow them display goods at all first thing in the morning, not after.
I'm pissed.
πΆπ½♀️
louts NOT touts
