The Nigeria Air project and the concession of the Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Port Harcourt airports have been embroiled in controversies.
Keyamo, on his maiden visit and a tour of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, suspended all plans and arrangements concerning the proposed national carrier, Nigeria Air.
On the relocation of foreign airlines to the new Lagos terminal, Keyamo noted that the reason the new Lagos terminal had been underutilised was that it could not take wide-bodied aircraft, saying the airlines would be using the terminal while the government procures big buses to convey passengers.
He also stated that the old international terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos would be shut down by October 1, 2023, for renovation, and that all private hangars like Dominion Hangar, EAN Hangar, and others would be relocated to pave the way for expansion of the new terminal.
“The major complaints have been with the old terminal. That place is an eyesore for Nigerians coming in. The lifts are not working. The passage is unwelcoming, and there is no air conditioner. We have the new terminal, but it cannot be used. It was designed without provision for big planes,” Keyamo stated.

Suspends and cancels are 2 different things.
ReplyDeleteThe air Nigeria nonsense was just a tourist trip into gargantuan corruption. The rented Ethiopian air plane says it all. If that plane was itself a moneymaker, it would not have been available for the runway drama it was rented for.
ReplyDeleteNigeria cannot afford a national carrier and it's government has no business doing business.
The focus for a poor and densely populated country is a PPP or similar model of trail travel to move goods and passages and take the stress of our roads. The fight time from most cuties in Nigeria is One hour but with the wait times and disappointment, it's even better to just go by trail, enjoy the trip and spend some money locally. That's the key to local tourism for families, groups, schools, etc and even fit those going for business. The railroads are what set Europe apart and prospered the continent. Save with China, Japan. America is now trying to revive rail travel same with Canada but it's proving rather expensive. Let's not miss our chance again at this stage of development: railways, metrolines, trams, mass transit buses, are or only solution with our swelling population
