Good morning Ali B. This is very important for children, especially when it's their parents fanning their flame first in their early life. When they grow older, there's this boldness they develop to surmount every obstacle. Even if the people around them do not believe in them, they are already wired to believe in themselves.
Very true @Laura, you are very correct too. I can attest to this your fact in my daughter. Two weeks ago, they wrote midterm test. She scored good marks, her lowest was 16/20 which was in either Yoruba or so. She said one of her classmates kept jumping up and rejoicing as she saw her own scripts where she scored 17/20, 16/20, etc. My daughter said she was looking at this girl and was like "see this one is rejoicing because of 17/20 and 16/20, scores that even make me sad when I score them cos I believe I should score higher" I told her, those scores are high for her , probably because she had not been scoring up to that in the past. I told her not to look down on those who score lower than her because fingers are not equal, we are all unique and different and that she should celebrate with her next time. I am my daughter's no 1 cheerleader. I don't believe in bringing down a child so she can perform better. I reward her with gifts that she picks by herself and I tell her to do better so she can get bigger gifts.

Another form of burnout is 'compassion fatigue'. Symptoms include the belief that you're no longer effective, treating yourself and others with detachment, withdrawing from your responsibilities, avoiding social and interpersonal contact, and feeling 'beaten'.
One counsellor says driven people often 'suffer from an "adrenaline addiction" and unconsciously look for ways to get little surges, similar to the high people get from alcohol, caffeine and nicotine, except they get their highs from controlling people and making complex decisions...Spiritual causes of stress include sexual temptation, anger and despair, jealousy of other people's success and anxiety about finances. Pastors are often placed on pedestals...and these expectations can't be met. So in an effort to please, they become too goal-oriented for their people...or too accommodating of their spiritual slackness...they become perfectionists...overdeveloping one side of their ministry or identifying so closely with their calling that it falls apart. Your body gives you warning signals; insomnia, digestive problems, headaches, fatigue, muscle tension, teeth grinding and high blood pressure. Sadly, it seldom slows the victim down... As a pastor, you need to spend as much time with the strong as the weak; they give you strength and support...they can be trained for ministry...and having more hands on deck enhances the spiritual and emotional health of your church.' If you live in a compound with or without the landlord/ lady and "all things are equal" with you and yours, thank your God. So many of these house owners don't have "a clean hand".
I once lived in a house 3 of us tenants lost our fathers in the compound. It could be a coincidence. But happenings there showed otherwise.
My neighbor woke one midnight with 2 bats in his room. He killed one, burnt it. One was in-between the two sliding windows. It couldn't be killed unless the windows broken. As dawn came, there was no sign of the one in-between the windows.
The family down stairs said they heard "kiridim, kiridim" some midnights. She will peep out through her window, no one will be walking pass. She said she hears tap by her window being turned on and some one fetching water. She looks and no one is around. She's tough in prayer. She miscarried in the compound. The only tenant among who did not lose her father in the compound as her father died prior to packing in the compound.
By the way, the landlady was one of these women that comes to wash clothes for the landlord and his wife. Story has it she killed the wife and took over. The landlord's first daughter out of "naivety" bragged she will find out what killed her mother was killed.
One of the tenants who has siblings abroad made so much money building properties for his brothers managed to build a house out of them has completed the house since 3 years now but still lives there. This said neighbor who bats entered his flat hated the landlady most but now dines and dances with her. He had forgotten he built a house and prefers paying rent.

Amazing morning amazing people of SDK ville π. I was chatting with my teacher-friend on WhatsApp yesterday evening, and as usual, she dropped another bomb that broke my fragile heart. It's about one of her students whose mother is indirectly damaging his life. Below is an sms that this boy sent to her on Sunday night which she forwarded to me on WhatsApp while we chatted.
Ma, my mother is not a good person. She's a prostitute. She brings home men to the house knowing that we live in one room. Most nights I don't sleep because they're doing rubbish. I have told her I want to see my father but she says he's dead. I have asked my other aunties and they said he's alive but they don't know where he is.
My mother said it's the money she gets from men that she uses to feed, cloth and pay my school fees. If you look at these men, they don't look responsible. I hate my mother and very soon, I will run away from her or kill her or any other man that steps here. Different men almost everyday. She can work as a cleaner or set up small business. I just hate her. She will be telling them she loves them. They have s*x with her on the bed and they will be saying nonsense things to each other. Teacher, I am angry. I didn't even sleep because I had to open the door around 1 a.m this morning so that they can have s*x and not disturb me. I entered the house after three and decided to send you sms.
According to my friend, the boy is 15 years old. May God fix the life of this young boy.
I was in a saloon some months back when my woman was making her hair. You need to hear what these young ladies were saying at the saloon. They mentioned notable bvs names in their gossip. Dante wasn't spared eitherπππ
I intentionally didn't want to talk about it here then cos I will be decoded. It was my area. That's how I do my gist. I always give it time to avoid decoding. They probably thought as a man I am not a bv. It will shock you to know that a good percentage of men read this blog.
O Allah, what we ask of you is beyond our capabilities but certainly within yours. You are the All-powerful, the All Mighty.

Each individual's path to self-discovery is unique, so embrace the opportunities that resonate with you and be open to the insights they bring.
Believe you me! Is it grammatical to say πthis?
We were having a conversation in one of my classes.
And, one of my friends/students said to ME:
Please Ma I have a question on how to use the words, 'you me' in a sentence.
For example, is it correct to say: Do you believe you me?
My first instinct was to dismiss the entire construction, 'Do you believe you me' as ungrammatical.
But the dictionary culture kicked in.
In my classrooms (in UniPort or on WhatsApp, Telegram, etc), I always tell students to imbibe or develop a DICTIONARY CULTURE.
I always say:
"Before you bring to class a question about the meaning of any word or expression, first look it up in the dictionary (Cambridge, Oxford, Longman, or Collins)."
So, in line with the dictionary culture, I googled 'Do you believe you me?'
One of the suggestions that popped up was 'Believe you me'.
I clicked 'Believe you me' and was pleasantly surprised to find it in Collins and Longman dictionaries.
Consequently, I dropped this response in my global community on WhatsApp:π
Hello! Charles Chigozie (not real name)
You asked for the correct way to use "you me" in a sentence.
Here's the answer.π
Do you believe you me? ❎ Do you believe me? ✅ Believe you me! ✅
The second 'you' in 'Do you believe you me?' is superfluous.
Superfluous is an adjective which means unnecessary or more than is needed.
Hey, see what I found in the dictionary! It's surprising, isn't it? π
Believe you me: You can use 'believe you me' to emphasize that what you are saying is true.
For example π
It's absolutely amazing, believe you me. -Collins dictionary
Believe (you) me: This is used to emphasize that something is definitely true.
For example π
There’ll be trouble when they find out about this, believe you me! -Longman dictionary
@Everyone I keep learning, unlearning, and relearning English every single day! I hope you do too.
In summary, it's a grammatically correct phrase in informal conversation. The word order is unconventional. The sentence is considered grammatically acceptable in an informal spoken English.
However, in a formal writing or situation, it's not acceptable.

It is time to try it yourself instead of basing your opinion on what people say like the saying of mama Nkechi and yard people stories.. Try it and give your children and grand children evidence based stories. If you have not entered a plane before. Save towards it and try it. If you have not gone to a night club before. Try it and see for yourself what is happening there. If you have not entered train before. It's time to try it. If you have not swam before. Register to a swimming pool/club and try it. Enter that cinema. Seat down and watch a movie. What have you always imagined how it goes that is not against your fate. It's time to try it. No fear.
A Cue From Shadrach, Meshach And Abednego!! Daniel 3:16-18.
Excerpts!!
"Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were threatened by the government of the day to bow down to the king's golden image or burn in the fiery furnace. They refused to compromise, choosing rather to die than to cower. Their inspiring statement of conviction and absolute commitment to the Lord is what we read in our theme scripture."
"Their unwavering faith in God infuriated the king who ordered that they be thrown into the fiery furnace. The fire was so intense that it burnt and killed the men that threw them in. Howbeit, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were unscathed. The Lord protected them."
"That’s what happens when you stand your ground in faith, in spite of fierce and daunting opposition. Soon enough, your detractors will be inspired by your faith and convictions, which could lead to their salvation. So, serve God with your life."
Prayer!!
The Word of God is my Spirit so strong; it's as fire shut up in my bones and nothing can hinder the affirmation of my faith and my proclamation of the Gospel of Christ. I'm strengthened and energized by the Holy Spirit who lives in me, and He's made me an absolute victor. Blessed be God!

The heat didn't come to play.

Delete✓KNOW YOURSELF PART FORTY-TWO
ReplyDeleteEXPERIENCE
Experience refer to the events, situations, interactions, and circumstances that an individual encounters throughout their life. These experiences can range from significant life events, such as relationships, education, career choices, and achievements, to everyday occurrences and challenges. Experiences encompass both positive and negative events and can have a profound impact on an individual's development, shaping their perspectives, values, beliefs, and behaviors. Here are examples of experiences that can contribute to self-discovery:
1.) Traveling alone: Exploring new places and immersing yourself in different cultures can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your place in the world.
2.) Starting a new hobby: Engaging in a new hobby or activity can uncover hidden talents, passions, and interests you were previously unaware of.
3.) Overcoming a fear: Facing and conquering a fear can boost self-confidence and reveal inner strength.
4.) Going through a breakup: The end of a relationship can lead to self-reflection and personal growth as you navigate through the emotional challenges and learn more about your own needs and desires.
5.) Volunteering: Helping others can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment while also offering insights into your values and priorities.
6.) Participating in therapy: Engaging in therapy or counseling can provide a safe space for self-exploration, healing, and gaining insights into patterns of behavior.
7.) Facing a personal challenge: Overcoming a significant personal challenge, such as recovering from an illness or achieving a difficult goal, can provide a profound sense of self-discovery and resilience.
8.) Taking a sabbatical: Temporarily stepping away from work or daily routines can offer space for self-reflection, reevaluation of priorities, and gaining clarity on personal aspirations.
9.) Starting a journal: Regularly writing in a journal can help uncover patterns, explore thoughts and emotions, and gain insights into your own experiences.
10.) Attending personal development workshops or seminars: Participating in workshops focused on personal growth and self-improvement can provide tools, knowledge, and a supportive community for self-discovery.
11.) Taking up a physical challenge: Setting and accomplishing physical goals, such as running a marathon or climbing a mountain, can reveal inner strength, determination, and resilience.
12.) Stepping out of your comfort zone: Trying new activities or pushing yourself to do something you find uncomfortable can help you uncover hidden abilities and expand your sense of self.
13.) Engaging in deep conversations: Having meaningful conversations with friends, mentors, or loved ones can lead to self-discovery by exploring different perspectives and gaining new insights.
14.) Experiencing failure: Failure can be a powerful teacher, allowing you to learn from mistakes, reassess your goals, and discover new paths forward.
15.) Embracing solitude: Spending time alone without distractions can allow for self-reflection, self-awareness, and a deeper understanding of your own thoughts, feelings, and desires.
Each individual's path to self-discovery is unique, so embrace the opportunities that resonate with you and be open to the insights they bring.
Thanks for sharing.

DeleteBelieve you me!
ReplyDeleteIs it grammatical to say πthis?
Do you believe me? ✅
Believe you me!
@Everyone
I keep learning, unlearning, and relearning English every single day! I hope you do too.
In summary, it's a grammatically correct phrase in informal conversation. The word order is unconventional. The sentence is considered grammatically acceptable in an informal spoken English.
However, in a formal writing or situation, it's not acceptable.
I'm rooting for you!✌πΎ

A Cue From Shadrach, Meshach And Abednego!!
ReplyDeleteDaniel 3:16-18.

ReplyDeleteWomen cheat more while single.
ReplyDeleteMen cheat more when married.
This is so because our prime differs.
Women prime are when they're younger..
Men's are when older.
Only a woman who didn't have anything to do with a married man in her prime, when she dey hot, has the moral rights to complain of their husbands cheating..
Make the rest go face bush..
If dem born you well, cheat back nah, I double dare and triple dare you to cheat back.. who dey beg you.. just make sure he doesn't catch you, na that time your mind go dey.
women sexual urges increases as they age while the man's own nose dives. I am assuming prime is not sexual urges.
