INSIDE THE MIND OF A WOMAN GOING THROUGH MOTHERHOOD

As a young adult before the kids, I was passionate about intentional parenting. Growing up, I knew i wanted to do certain things different with my kids.
When I had my first and noticed his uniqueness I was more passionate about being intentional.
As a pastor’s child and the first born, there was a lot of pressure on me to be perfect, prim and proper yet my parents were not really the conventional type.

I just knew that I wanted something different for my kids in certain areas.  I knew what I wanted but I didn’t know how to go about it,So I started to do my research and I found a large home-schooling community here in Nigeria.

I also found a lot of intentional parenting/ gentle parenting communities online. When I say a lot I mean crazy numbers. I  was confused at first because there were a lot of factions like the crunchy crews, the homestead farm crew etc. It was a lot to take in but over time I have been able to streamline my search and focus on what works for my household.

I stumbled on a faith based gentle/ intentional parenting approach online and discovered a community of women in Nigeria here willing to hold my hands, be a support system and kind of hold each other accountable.
If you want to try this parenting approach and don’t know how to go about it , please just go online especially on social media you will find a lot of resources available to help you as you find what will work for your own household.

It’s lovely to realise that you are not alone in your search to do better by your kids and be intentional about how you are raising them.

Congrats, I was never one of those to homeschool anyone at alll. I applaud you and others for this because i know say e no easy!

FROM FRIDAY NIGHT GIST POST

''In church, a new convert, a lady shared a testimony that caused a stir. The background to it was that in the on going 21 days fast, pastor had declared that God will raise people up unexplainably this January and everyone said amen as per usual.
You know sometimes you just say Amen in church for the sake of saying it. the day she came to church for the first time was 12 days into the fast, she hadn't fasted nada and she looked different from everyone. Imagine a gen z baddie in a deeper life setting, that's the nearest image I can describe. Anyway girl's voice was loudest than everyone anytime pastor spoke a blessing and it was noticeable.

At one point, some even laughed because it was odd. So she came to church to testify with letter of employment and a 1.5m check (wardrobe allowance) to testify about a new job she is resuming Monday. She also wore better and godly clothes, It happened that she stopped going to church several years back but just suddenly entered that evening and made a promise to God to return to God if her interview went well. Na so everywhere scatter.

The amen I heard today alone, I am convinced is the loudest heaven has heard in a long time. Even at home, my parents were like, girl wey just come God bless so, the WhatsApp groups is full of gists . All of a sudden, our small church con dey very serious. Even my father that doesn't talk in church said very loud amen that got me rolling. The laugh I have been laughing this week, God will have to forgive me

I dont understadn the wardrobe allowance part oh....

AUTOPHAGY FASTING

Autophagy fasting refers to a dietary or fasting approach aimed at promoting autophagy, a natural cellular process crucial for cellular renewal and maintenance. Autophagy, which means "self-eating," involves the body's cells breaking down and recycling damaged or dysfunctional components.

During autophagy fasting, individuals typically undergo periods of fasting or specific dietary restrictions. This deprivation of nutrients, particularly carbohydrates and proteins, signals the body to activate autophagy as a survival mechanism. When nutrients are scarce, cells recycle their own components to generate energy and maintain cellular function.

How is 'Autophagy Fasting'carried out?

Autophagy fasting is typically achieved through specific dietary patterns or fasting regimens aimed at promoting the activation of autophagy. Here are common approaches:

1.) Intermittent Fasting (IF): This method involves cycling between periods of eating and fasting. The most popular form is the 16/8 method, where individuals fast for 16 hours and have an eating window of 8 hours each day. Extended fasting periods encourage the body to enter a state where autophagy is activated.

2.) Time-Restricted Eating (TRE): Similar to intermittent fasting, time-restricted eating involves limiting the daily eating period. For instance, someone might consume all their daily meals within a specific 6 to 10-hour window, promoting a fasting state during the remaining hours.

3.) Extended Fasting: This approach involves longer fasting periods, ranging from 24 hours to several days. Extended fasting aims to induce deeper autophagy as the body adapts to a prolonged absence of nutrients.

4.) Caloric Restriction:
Reducing overall caloric intake without necessarily fasting for extended periods is another method. By lowering calorie consumption, the body may shift into a state that triggers autophagy.

5.) Ketogenic Diet: A low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet that induces a state of ketosis. Ketosis, where the body primarily uses ketones for energy, has been suggested to stimulate autophagy.

While these approaches are associated with autophagy, the degree to which autophagy is activated can vary, and the long-term effects and benefits are still being researched. Additionally, these practices may not be suitable for everyone, and consulting with a healthcare professional before embarking on any fasting regimen is advisable, especially for individuals with existing health conditions. Fasting should be approached with caution and with attention to maintaining proper nutrition and hydration.

BENEFITS OF AUTOPHAGY FASTING

While the research on the benefits of autophagy fasting is still evolving, some studies and observations suggest potential advantages. Keep in mind that individual responses can vary, and more research is needed to fully understand the long-term effects. Here are some reported benefits:

1.) Cellular Repair and Renewal: Autophagy is a process through which cells remove damaged or dysfunctional components. This can contribute to cellular repair and renewal, potentially promoting overall cell health.

2.) Longevity: Some animal studies have indicated that increased autophagy might be associated with extended lifespan. However, translating these findings to human longevity is still an area of ongoing research.

3.) Improved Metabolic Health: Autophagy may play a role in maintaining metabolic balance. Fasting and autophagy-related processes might contribute to better insulin sensitivity and glucose regulation, potentially benefiting those at risk of metabolic disorders.

4.) Brain Health: Autophagy is thought to have neuroprotective effects. It may help remove damaged proteins and cellular structures from the brain, potentially reducing the risk of neurodegenerative diseases.

5.) Inflammatory Reduction: Autophagy may influence inflammation levels. By clearing out damaged cellular components, it might contribute to a reduction in inflammatory responses.

6.) Cancer Prevention: Some studies suggest that autophagy could play a role in preventing cancer by removing damaged cells and inhibiting the growth of tumors. However, more research is needed to establish a clear link.

7.) Weight Management: Autophagy fasting, particularly through intermittent fasting or caloric restriction, may contribute to weight management by promoting fat utilization for energy and reducing overall calorie intake.

8.) Enhanced Cellular Stress Resistance: Autophagy is part of the cellular stress response. Activating autophagy through fasting might enhance the cell's ability to withstand various stressors.

Note that while these potential benefits are intriguing, the field of autophagy and fasting research is dynamic, and more studies are needed to validate and understand the mechanisms behind these effects. Individuals should approach any fasting regimen cautiously and, if considering it, consult with healthcare professionals, especially if they have existing health conditions.

  13. It's so heartwarming to write about this man. 200 years ago, a Christian Entrepreneur named John Cadbury laid the foundation for Cadbury Chocolate.

John Cadbury's profound sense of social responsibility, inspired by his Christian convictions, formed the bedrock of both his company and his brand.

In 1824, John Cadbury inaugurated the Cadbury grocery store with the vision that selling drinking chocolate could serve as a wholesome alternative to alcohol.

His concern stemmed from the belief that alcoholism contributed to poverty by hindering people's ability to work.

During an era when factories were often dismal and perilous environments, John Cadbury ensured that his factory was a safe and humane workplace.

In 1893, he acquired land surrounding the factory to establish Bournville Village, a community designed for the well-being of the workers.

His intention was to offer a secure and pleasant living space as an alternative to the grimy cities.

Each dwelling in Bournville Village was designed for comfort and included a plot of land for cultivating vegetables.

John Cadbury went above and beyond the norms of his time by providing his employees with competitive wages, medical care, educational opportunities, and pension plans.

He also implemented the innovative 5-1/2-day work week and closure for bank holidays.

Sports facilities within the factory were provided for the employees' recreation.

In 1918, the Cadburys established elected work councils, comprising equal numbers of workers and management.

Two centuries later, Cadbury stands as one of the world's largest businesses, valued at over $25 billion.

John Cadbury epitomizes what Christian Entrepreneurship represents, demonstrating virtues and a culture that resonate with the teachings of Christ.

As Christians in Business, we are called to emulate similar principles exhibited by John Cadbury, ensuring that our businesses serve a Greater Cause beyond mere profit.

So, Dear Christian Entrepreneur, Are you building a business that will withstand the test of time, serving both God's Kingdom and humanity?

So my little girl of 9 years made Nigerian jollof for us yesterday afternoon, she came to wake me up that lunch was served, omo I joined her at the table and as I was eating the food she was staring at me , obviously trying to get an expression of how tasty the meal was. I had to continue nodding like agama lizard. You guys needed to have seen the excitement on her face when I answered the much awaited question " how is the food?"and I said hmmm sumptuous.

Please Kings , you guys should take out time to appreciate the queens that prepare your meals on a daily. It makes us feel great.
