ReplyDeleteso something happened two years ago when I was just starting up my business. I got this gig for a very rich woman she was handling a very huge contract running into millions.
we agreed on a 150k fee, me being new as an entrepreneur in fact she was my second client so my priority was to make an impression, i didn't really ask for an upfront payment I just started the job. she was even the one that asked for my account and paid in 50k.
everything went well, we even became close that she told me about most of her personal challenges (that again brings me back to the guys advice that that big man is not your friend, do your job collect your money and go).
most time she will even take me out for lunch.
I finished the job and presented it to her she complained that she didn't like the final work, I asked her to point out the part she don't like, I was ready to give her the best. she wouldn't say and she started avoiding me, I will come to the site I won't meet her, I will call she will tell me she will be coming and I won't see her, I will call back and she will tell me that she has gone home. long story short, she blocked me. I was Pained because 100k for a startup was a lot to lose. I counted my loss, deleted all her contacts and moved on. I just told God if it pleases you, so be it. at my lows whenever I remember that money I fell pained. I pray about it sometimes though
now fast forward to this January I just saw a message one day on WhatsApp "how far". I said fine who is this please. and it was this woman, as soon as she identified herself, I read her message but did not reply, after a while she sent another message " please send me your acct details". at first I wanted to rush and send it, but something in me said not to, instead I replied her with "you should have it" she read it and for more than 4hrs she didn't reply, I was already blaming myself, I should just have sent it. it took forever but she finally replied that she found the acct and soon after she sent the money. I got the alert and sent her a one liner "seen".
apparently she needed me to do the same job she complained I didn't do well and the reason she refused to pay me.
I told her it will cost her 3x the previous fee, and I will take 80% upfront. she said is it not too much, I told her that is my charge.
she said she will get back to me, it has been over a week and I've not heard from her.
I'm not going to contact her, at least she has paid me what she owed and I've learnt my lesson
