Chronicle Of Blog Visitor Narrative...

Hmmmm...

STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
ADVICE NEEDED URGENTLY

Please I need advice.
My dad was ran over by a car and he died.
The police adviced us to settle out of court which we did. The man agreed to pay 2 million Naira for his burial but gave us 500k upfront to balance 1.5 million in two weeks time but it's been more than one month and they have refused to pay. Please what can we do in this situation?

You people should NEVER have collected that initial payment ...They will not pay any money again as long you settled with them and took money.....This is how it is,if you already buried your dad then firget it, if your dad is not buried then you people can try to rearrest them but all that is also a risk cos once they give police something they will be released...
I should have said get a Lawyer but there was no written agreement to that effect.
Sorry about your dads death and please move on oh....

    1. "as Nigeria lawyer is so useless"

if you are a lawyer, you may be right commenting about yourself.

If you are not a lawyer, you may be right commenting from dross ignorance, limited knowledge, bias, or lazy generalisation.

    2. Are they not useless? 16:12 . Or didn't you see their handiwork during the last election. As if you are not in Nigeria

    3. I support Makason on this one even though her comments can be annoying some times. But she would have used "some"

  5. The dead has been buried. Case closed. If you wanted him to pay, you will have kept your dad in the mortuary insisting they pay before he can be buried

  7. Nigerians pls stop moving on
Go to the police. Start by going back to the police to report lack of full payment. If nothing then move to sue him. You can get a lawyer or sue him yourselves. Follow the case. Don’t let it go at all even it takes a long time

    1. Thank you.

      Get a lawyer.

Some lawyers will do it free, some on contingency basis, and some on basic fee.

But first artfully and tactfully gather all available (necessary) evidence from the police and even the other party.

This is why it is advised to get a lawyer to walk us through important matters, or at least document and sign agreements by ourselves.

  8. Instead of you people to insist and collect the full amount and keep it going, you people where doing understanding breathen. Pls go and bury your father and forget it. You ran my father over and you are telling me to settle out of court for just 2m? My people perish for lack of knowledge.

  9. This one vex me. You should not even agree to settle this kind of case out of court. So 2m is all your father's life was worth? even if he was selling fish by the road side, 2m is nothing. A life can never come back. Atleast you people should have even collected the full amount since it's just 2m. Instead of using your late father to do buy now pay later.

  10. 2m pere? Abi 2 billion? I will first arrest and lock them up for 3yrs in area f and awaiting trial then we’ll now talk of settlement and they’ll not be released till full payment is made. Rubbish

  11. Is it poverty or what will make you settle out of court over murder? And for such paltry amount? Gosh! I'll run over any human that makes such mistake. Do the time or die same way. No forgiveness here

  13. Firstly, I am so sorry that your father died so untimely. Never listen to a police officer on legal matters, they are not lawyers. Burial money cannot cover the loss of your father. Please consult a lawyer, even visit a law firm that is expensive, there is always someone willing to work pro bono. Keep knocking on doors until you get representation.

Maybe fear, lack of knowledge, shock and stress, or a hate of the legal system made you all settle so quickly and simply for burial money. If your father was the breadwinner then loss of income will be factored into the settlement amount. The loss of his guidance and wisdom and the emotional loss will also be factored in. A good lawyer would never settle for burial money alone. Do some research and get representation fast.

    1. I second this poster try get a lawyer ,the reason is because there is this satisfaction that you tried your best for a dead one ,if you keep quiet it will always nudge your conscience sy that you would be done more , that guilt will never go away if you don't try.
That money shouldn't be been an instalment thing he is human being don't you have a male figure ,a relation however it is things like this always seek the knowledge of a lawyer don't listen to police
They ll always tell you ehh collect money who don die son die na lie try and reopen the case of not you ll see your papa for dream tire.
I'm telling you from the point of view of someone that it happened he appeared to my mum and told her to tell us to stop crying that we did our best.
Make a move that move will satisfy your conscience.
My sincere condolences and I pray the Lord comfort your family Amen take heart

  16. Poster sorry over your lost but I pray that God will console you and your entire family.

I know that 2m is not enough to cover up for the life of your precious dad but you people did that inorder not to prolong the plus that will not bring your dad back. I will say you people should try and reach out to the man and ask him questions why he is yet to balance up. The mistake has already been made for collecting part payment and hoping the man will balance up.

Look for a good lawyer who can stand for the truth with and collect little token but of police and lawyer will be the remaining 1.5m please you people should let it go and find closure. Some people don't have fear of God in them and don't worry the spirit that the man wasted and refused to do thr needful will hunt him, make him useless. Take heart and be strong.

  18. Sorry for your loss. Please do not let it go. Go to LEGAL AID COUNCIL, you'll be given a legal representation for free. They'll help you out. If you reside in Abuja, their office is at 22 Port Harcourt Crescent, off Gimbya Street, Area 11. Good luck
