NAPTIP Says Many Orphanages Are Under Investigation For Human Trafficking

The Director-General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, Prof Fatima Waziri-Azi, says many orphanages are currently under investigation in the country.

She made the disclosure while speaking during a Community Dialogue and Advocacy on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence organised by the agency for stakeholders in Gwagwalada communities of the FCT on Thursday.
According to her, some orphanages commit a lot of infractions that can be categorised as human trafficking.
She further disclosed that NAPTIP is currently prosecuting some of these orphanages.
The Director-General explained, “The agency is witnessing a lot with these orphanages. No orphanage has the right to conclude the adoption of children.”
She warned orphanages to be careful about their mode of operations, and cautioned Nigerians to be careful with the adoption of babies from such homes.
She equally advised Nigerians to follow due process in the adoption of babies in different parts of the country.

  1. They should investigate them very well cos people are very evil, some could be doing it and still be claiming good people.

  8. Why did you announce this NAPTIP? most of them will try to clean their tracks now and suspend their wicked activities for now.

I heard they also use some of those homes for money laundering....

    1. It is heart wrenching what happens in a lot of those places. Even in countries with strict regulations, the foster care and adoption systems are shyt and shytty ppl are being foster parents or adopting. For every great successful story there are 20 heartbreaking ones. Humans can be very horrible creatures. And children pay a hearty price on this planet. Jesus hasn’t returned after almost 3000 years for good reason. You need a bloody long rest after one lifetime here if you are a sensitive soul.

  9. The issue is that adopting through "government route" is cumbersome and frustrating that is why people are pushed to go straight to the orphanages.
I once tried to adopt through govt and they frustrated my efforts. They told me outrightly that I am not qualified. Okay tell me the reason for disqualifying me or how I can correct any identified anomaly; they refused to say. Just told me that I am not qualified tand they cannot attend to me - end of discussion.
If they make the adoption process more straight forward and transparent, then people will have absolutely no reason to go through other ways.
People usually go through dubious ways when they become frustrated and desperate. I know some bad people and criminals exist, it is actually the people with good and noble intentions I am writing about.
