The Federal Government has warned workers planning to embark on the indefinite strike declared by labour unions that they risk a six month jail term. Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), gave the warning in a statement on Sunday.


There was drama at Oro Ago Divisional Police headquarters in Kwara State, on Sunday, when soldiers invaded the station and forcefully moved out rescued Kogi varsity students. In a statement on Sunday evening, the Kwara police command described the action of the soldiers “as disrespectful and totally unacceptable”.

. The Federal Government has increased the 2024 budgetary allocation of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) by 500 per cent of what it received in 2023. Executive Secretary (ES) of the Commission, Mr. James Lalu, dropped the hint in Abuja during a chat with NAN on Sunday.

A businessman, Ali Usman, has been killed by his ex-employee, identified simply as Zubar, and an accomplice, one Rasaq, in the Agbowa Ikosi community in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State. It was gathered that Usman was riding his motorcycle with his son, Sobur, when Zubar and Rasaq ambushed them at a desolate location close to his residence around the General Hospital area in Agbowa Ikosi.

 The cost of liquefied petroleum gas, otherwise known as cooking gas, appears to be on a downward spiral lately. Consumers in Ogun, Lagos, Oyo and others confirmed on Sunday that the average cost of 1 kilogramme of cooking gas is now around N1,000 or below, depending on the location and the seller.

 The Central Bank of Nigeria on Sunday expressed relief that Nigerians have fully embraced the introduction of Islamic banking years after speculations made the round that it was an attempt to Islamise the country. This was disclosed by the CBN Governor, Yemi Cardoso, at a reception organised to honour the Secretary-General, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Centre, Dr Umar Oseni in Abuja.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State, Adeoye Irelewuyi, has confirmed that no fewer than three persons died in an accident that occurred on Sunday when a truck lost control and rammed into two tricycles at Oba on the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

 Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a 70-year-old grandfather with 57.2kg of cannabis in Nasarawa State and also seized over N2.1bn codeine-based syrup and loud- a synthetic cannabis strain, at the Port Harcourt seaports and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

Last week, a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, gave an order stopping the federal government from remitting funds accruing to the 21 local government councils in Anambra State to the Prof Chukwuma Soludo-led administration.
The court ordered that the funds be deposited into an interest-bearing account managed by the Chief Registrar of the FCT High Court until the court hears the substantive Motion on Notice.
Furthermore, the court directed the anti-graft commission, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to invite and interrogate the relevant officers of the Anambra State Government regarding the deployment of funds received between March 22, 2022, and April 30, 2024, being the period that Soludo has been governor of the state.

Lagos State indigenes on Sunday vowed to reject a Bill seeking the return of Nigeria to the regional government.
Speaking under the aegis of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, the indigenes, in a statement by its Media Office, revealed that a proposed Bill, seeking approval of the National Assembly to return Nigeria to a regional system, is set to be considered, but insisted that Lagos State people will not be part of the Western Region.

  2. NLC Has embarked on an indefinite Strike action and TCN said they (NLC) has Shut down Power.
    NLC have issued a statement that they are on strike in thier Official website.
    Cheering News for people living with disabilities in Nigeria, its High Time,They Should be Recognised in the Budget

    1. Islamic banking has no interest. It is interest free that is it’s main difference wt conventional banking system.

  3. Nigeria wants to go back to regional system of government, this perent government is bent on fulfilling it's childhood. I saw the video of that accident in oba, it was terrible. I couldn't even continue, some times I imagine how people video dead victims even with crushed skull. May their soul rest in peace.

    Some people get mind to be videoing that kind of incident..

    It was horrible 😢
